Unlike most characters, she actually gets consistent characterization and develops throughout the story:
-Chapter 2 you find out about her love of serial killers and she helps during Peko's trial to find out she wasn't sparkling justice
-Chapter 3 she feels guilty for leading Hiyoko to her death, and helps out during the trial about Hiyoko's murder
-Chapter 4 gets a relationship with Gundam and has to see him get killed
-Chapter 5 gets to be your investigation partner before the murder about finding more about the hope's peak ruins, she then finds out Komaeda's bombs are fake, and gets fed up all the infighting and sending people to die and decided to defend Chiaki as the traitor
I would like more non-main characters to get to that level of screentime she gets, because otherwise you have others like Akane who doesn't act like she learned anything from Nidai dying for her twice, Fuyuhiko might as well not even be there after chapter 3 as he gets fuck all to do, and then there is Souda who gets even worse the longer he's in the game and is only important because of his SHSL ability.

If you already like Danganronpa I don't see why you wouldn't think V3's plot twist measures up to the others. 1's was mostly "It's actually the apocalypse outside, and you guys trapped yourselves in here on purpose to keep yourselves safe, so all your wishes to escape that led to murder were pointless." DR2's were "You're actually in the matrix and were the ones responsible for the apocalypse, and if you try and pull a shutdown to stop my plan you'll revert into those monsters."
V3's consistent in that it provides an unexpected revelation about the environment "You're on the set of a TV show", and about the characters "You were actually just really big fans of DR that wanted to participate and were given false memories." The characters struggle with that revelation, have a sudden burst of willpower, and decide that even if shit's bad, they're not going to give up. V3 is pretty much exactly the same as 1 and 2 in terms of twist.

No, because what DRV3 points out, and has been a common theme in a lot of works that deal with false memories like Total Recall, your memories have a lot to do with who you are, to the point that two different sets of memories in the same body can be considered different people. The normalfag versions of V3's cast aren't the same people as the characters that would later inhabit their body. So while "I" would get to experience a killing game, the me that's making the decision to participate wouldn't get to see any of it.
But if I survived and got my memories back, I suppose it would be fun to play back the footage and see someone who looks and sounds like me running around with an absurd gimmick talent and solving mysteries in a dramatic fashion.

Wow I'm late to reply. What I didn't like was how underwhelming and anticlimactic it felt. Regardless of whether you view it as retconning the past entries in the franchise, and making them pointless, or you view it as a separate fictional world that contains the Danganronpa franchise but just as a game show, it was simply still a letdown. There was so much intrigue and mystery up until that chapter, and it could have gone in so many directions. I don't think Kodaka had written himself into a corner at any point, so it could easily have had many different conclusions that would have wrapped everything up nicely.
Like, fuck I don't know, how about Tsumugi really was a remnant of despair, like a second generation that formed as a response to the Future Foundation restoring order to the world. Maybe the Mother Brain Monokuma was an advanced AI that was somehow going to revive Junko's conciousness or some shit. I dont know, I would never say I could do it better than Kodaka, but I think Kodaka could have written it much better than he did for DRV3.

I'm not convinced. I didn't mind the remnants of despair plotline. I do see your point though, that they couldn't continue the ploone of DR 1&2 unless they did that. But what I'm saying is that there were more ways that the ending to V3 could have happened without becoming some Truman Show thing. Again, I don't mind the whole remanants of despair plotline, but if they needed to do something completely fresh, then maybe theres some absurdly rich serial killer inspired by what happened, and is forcing students to kill each other for their own amusement. You don't get it, V3 was always intended to take place in a different universe than the previous Danganronpa games, it was never presented as a straight-up sequel in the same universe. The core of Danganronpa's never had anything to do with the larger narrative of the Tragedy and Ultimate Despair, the core of Danganronpa is a 16-person killing game with trials, investigations, and revelations.
