Because this post will be buried I'll let you all in on a somewhat well-kept secret.

Back in 2005 there was a game being developed that was going to heavily feature storylines from the greatest heavy metal band covers of all time. The story was mainly driven around the covers for Slayer- Raining Blood, Megadeth - Rust in Peace, Metallica - Master of Puppets, an album by Overkill with a huge tank on the cover (forget the name), a couple Iron Maiden covers, and one by Ministry. The game, codenamed "Iron Project" failed miserably because of licensing issues and high costs to procure songs for the game, alongside some bands not wanting to be included in relation to other games (Kerry King hated Al Jourgensen with a passion). The game was going to be a hack-n-slash game that involved a fan's dream to exist in a world surrounded by metal instead of hip-hop and pop music.

The project plan also involved slaughtering pop music enemies that were trying to water-down the realm of metal. No final boss was determined and the project plan was an absolute mess. Some people on that project went on to work for Double Fine, and the rest is history.

Don't tell anyone you heard it from this metal user though.

What does Yea Forums think of this game and where can I find something with similar vibe? I kinda like developer's other works too but no one else doesn't have that kind of style.

The only level that had any work on it whatsoever (with no music at the time either, which was a shame) was a small section of Raining Blood, crossing a chasm of blood and screaming people trying not to drown as you enlist the help of Satan himself to grant you powers to defeat the pop and hip-hop scourge. On one hand, what a waste of potential. On the other, I can't really even blame the other guys; everything else aside, imagine if the band took off but that got out to the public and they were associated with him.

I thought the system where you could get addicted to chaos was really good but the level design was kind of sloggy and only reached it's peak when the Killing Road revealed their Youthanasia plan to the Blood of Heroes.

I also hated the train of consequences. Everybody loves it but I couldn't stand the flow after that great terrorist attack opening sequence that the Killing Road keeps referring to as Reckoning Day.

In terms of beat variety and good wordplay you might be right, but the skits are way too long and numerous. They break up the flow of the album on relistens. I prefer Vaudeville Villain and Mouse & The Mask, which happen to be on the polar opposite ends of tone from one another.

Having listened to his whole discography, I enjoy searching the internet for his features and the good fan remixes. XMAS DOOM from Cooking Soul was great shit, that feature on Police Myself from Open Mike Eagle this week was smooth, there's that album of a jazz band covering the instrumentals off of Madvillainy (which were already sampled from jazz), I occasionally go back to this really good underrated remix EP called KANNIDOOM that has a great music video of clips from shows and movies edited together for it.

I appreciated the fuck out of its OST last night running Bitterblack and the other times I've played but the track that plays on that bridge started to wear on me so I'm going to use something stronger to push through.

I listened to some Blind Guardian when running NG+ since almost all the music was going to be the low-threat-level version for most of the game and that worked out great.

I haven't because I don't want to go through the steps of getting it to work on my gaijin toaster when most of the text still isn't translated and the aesthetic/gameplay are like any other anime MMO outside of some of the DD staples. I love what they did with Warrior and I like the idea of having Daggers and Bows as separated specialized classes, but otherwise it looks to take things a little too far. I think DD1 but with a few more cool moves and maybe 10-20% faster would be good for a sequel, but not the straight-up DMC shit that Alchemists can pull off, for example.

I can respect all of that, I felt very similarly before finally trying it and the gameplay improvements definitely won me over. The atmosphere definitely suffers from going like super warcraft tier bullshit fantasy but all the art asset/music stuff is still top notch. Hope when DD2 happens they keep most of the vocation adjustments from online like the warrior and sorceror stuff.

Alchemist does some rad shit and it works within DDO but I don't think it fits what DD1 was going for. I'd rather a DD2 be a slightly more involved/mechanically thought-out version of the original, perhaps even with an Alchemist equivalent, but when you can use gold as super jumps, Trickster air dashes, full-body magical armor, and a fucking shotgun while flying around at 60MPH, you're not exactly getting the same feeling as DD1's vocations. Maybe keep most of those skills, but tone them down or give them a limit on how many of that kind they can have at a time.

Tai Shan's a nightmare trying to navigate, but using the lock and key can shortcut it. Evenutally, Tai Shan will become second nature to you. I'm assuming you got the right key, the one where inside the book and turn the page to page 63, right?

yeah alchemist would definitely not work in single player just because most of it's mechanics are designed from the ground up for the multiplayer party role formula. You don't have outright tanking in Dark Arisen nor do any enemies do shit that necessitates 1-frame parries into super armor triggers and all that shit. The super jump pad is literally just the fighter's stepping stone throw thing or whatever it was called. It's just that it's actually useful because you can do it to yourself instead of aimlessly launching pawns to their deaths. I guess a lot of the stuff looks crazier than it is because of the cool gold effects and shit but a shotgun blast isn't really any more fucked up than doing like a 15 explosive arrow spread shot
