It's like Chivalry with reduced spinning bullshit and less annoying slowdowns on your camera and movement, no catching people with backswings after you did a 180 nosheath.
It's like Jedi Knight II / Mount&Blade with the ability to attack from several angles and deflect attacks with your own attacks that intercepts at the same angle instead of just blocking. Instead of needing several binds for each angle the likes of Chivalry, you can do it JK/M&B style with foot movement or mouse movement to dictate the angle of attack.
More than just Chiv's attack feints, you can cancel the animation of any kind of attack and go into something else as a means to bait parries, stall your attack, alter your angle of attack, or mix them up by going from feinted sword swing to a kick or vice versa.
Stamina bar to manage so you can't just block/swing/feint all day.
Some deathmatch game modes, an objective attack/defend game mode, and a simple "battle royale" one-life elimination mode.

In Mordhau, 90% of the time a matrix will not be able to pass through a player-model without damaging them. If it does, then it's not a matrix but a ghost hit based on server quality. The matrix's in this game, however, are not as good because you can't instantly pack your legs and chest together like you could in chivalry, but the hitboxes are wayyy better so doing things like turning your head and looking up/dowb are really effective in dodging headshots.

It's not like chivalry, the turncaps are a lot more restrictive and there's an actual mechanic that punishes you for hitting people with a spin attack.

If you look really closely here, you'll see the type of spin "attacks" you can actually do in this game compared to chivalry. In chivalry, you could spin around during your attack animation, which lead to most of the serious cancer attacks.
In Mordhau you can't(as much). The gif shows him turning around into an accel direction then starting an attack. You see that he only hits the other player when he's actually looking in his direction, in chiv he'd just hit the backswing. It's much more readable from the other player's POV compared to having to judge whether the backswing will actually be a decel or an accel.

There's a dodge perk but it's not as strong as it was in chivalry.
And feints the mordhau community (at least know) are a lot less looked-down-upon becauss there is a built in gamble feature called chambering that "counters" feints.

he's just moving his character model since your upper body is tied to your camera's orientation looking up jerks your entire upper body backwards, and while crouching making for a very good evasive trick. It is completely shutdown by a simple drag, but most casuals fail the most simple of drags.

How does chamber counter feints? I thought a chamber was beginning your swing at the perfect moment that your attack counts as a parry against the incoming attack, while attacking through it to deal damage a-la mount and blade

I'm worried balance will be shit. especially with mounted combat being added

I only played Chivalry with a bardiche, and for like 300 hours. All the feinting and meta game stuff rarely applied to me and I usually went 45-3 and finished in the top slot every other game. Granted, I was mostly running up from behind and stabbing players that were already in melees with others, or I'd spin and swing causing incredible amounts of team damage. I played as I live, like an incredible coward - poking my bardiche in and then sprinting away when an actual good swordsman could challenge me. It was incredibly fun and I'll see you tomorrow lads.

they need to add some kind of lore and more objective based maps. it would make mordhau a better game.
i remember those maps where the agatha knights had to defend the peasents, then the city walls and then prevent the order from poisoning the city waters with dead bodies. it was great.
