this game is a huge cluttering of ideas that don't work together
It bombards you with tons of stuff but in actual execution there's very little reason to care about any of it
I'm 10 hours in and every single battle has been me going through the exact same motions and hitting the same button prompts, which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have 20 different menus and skill trees that do nothing but boost your characters and blades as you (wait for it) go through the motions
It's like all the worst aspects of a korean MMO in a single player game

What the fuck am I reading. Literally everyone can topple. Tora gets a topple from moment one with Poppi Alpha. It's one of the few driver combos that every character has available to them.

Reminded me of those threads where people complained how you NEED field skills to pass certain points in the story and that was what turned them off... even though you get blades with those field skills just by playing the fucking story.

nigga if you cant build a basic team that gets the job done without pyra/mythra you fucking suck ass. The game gives you plenty of quest and story blades to work with.

its almost like you have 2 other party members and a ton of other blades you can use to fill the gap. Tora in particular fills in the gaps really well though I dont remember if you can have all 3 poppis by spirit crucible

Mythra is pretty overpowered and easily the best blade, I cant imagine a playthrough without Rex.

The Cliffs of Morytha section has a few obstacles that require more significant field skills to pass, ones that may need more than just the story blades, or to have at least made good affinity chart progress to improve them.

Basically that section is sort of a check that you aren't being too complacent and have done some amount of side quests or party development.

Yeah never got the field skills bitching. By the time I got to Cliffs of Morytha I only had to level up in one of the charts once to get through everything.

It was okay. Combat was pretty good but the story is weak. Get it if you want to see the universe shit on Mythra for about 15 hours straight.

Same here. Doesn't help that the DLC covers a part of the story that we were told already, so that kills all kinds of attempt at suspense and honestly feels unnecessary.
I don't think making that part playable adds anything to it.

the only threatening things has been some random level 80 mob swooping down and killing me in one shot, everything else is just me doing the same thing over and over again

I would like to know what you think I'm not doing right though, I'm cancelling all my arts at opportune times and use all my QTE combos when the prompt shows up, so I don't know how you'd assume I don't know how to play when I can't see myself doing anything else

I'm on the verge of dropping the game because I don't feel a sense of progression, and when I do try to do new things I get instantly punished for it
It really doesn't help that they spatter the map with level 100 monsters for absolutely no reason other than to waste your time, by the time I'm strong enough for them to not be instant death the rest of the map will just be on ignore-mode
I like side quests but none of it matters and it hasn't really given me a reason to care

The most annoying part is you CANNOT get rid of your first ever garbage Blade.
