Stop playing with the godawful classic controls. You are supposed to rotate the camera and attack at the same time with R1 and R2
Every other action game I plays lets me control the camera without it being locked so close to the back of the main character that it becomes the worst enemy in the game, why should I give it a free pass when it's a retarded design decision?

You don't get FOV sliders in real life, you just have to notice something's behind you, which are what the indicators do.
There's literally nothing wrong with a game giving you a visual to know someone's about to attack.

Stop with the hyperbole and git gud. I play on the hardest difficulty with no HUD and I never get hit in the back because I keep track of them and listen to the audio cues.
Also it zooms out a shitload when you actually start swinging. It only snaps back to right behind you just when you aim your axe or put up your shield to block

This is also retarded and a step backwards from what most games are doing where you are required to read enemy attacks and react accordingly, not have a big flashing arrow show up.
It has issues but it's easily the best modern western action game. A solid 8/10. Hopefully the sequel has a lot more bosses (that aren't trolls) and refines/builds on the combat mechanics. Also needs to drastically improve the climbing and have puzzles that aren't braindead.
People who complain about the camera are plebs, it gives the game a unique feel and forces the player to develop situational awareness. It's not quite God Hand but it'll do.

Opinions. I genuinely thought it was not a good game. Too much down time, especially for a GOW game. Also, the kid and the LOL SO WHACKY characters drove me insane. Tired Kratos is a good concept, though.

The disconnect between the video game part and the story parts is actually one of the biggest problems with this game.
It wants me to get all emotionally invested in this journey between a father and his son, but then it suddenly just cuts to "OH RIGHT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A VIDEO GAME" and it's super fucking jarring.
Like when after you kill the first Troll boss and Atreus loses his temper, it's supposed to be this emotional moment where Kratos sees himself in his own son, but then right afterwards the game goes 10 XP GAINED and the whole moment was completely undermined.
So basically you see that gameplay and think "psh that looks easy" then you try it and it's not, so you go "fuck this game" and stop playing

It adds depth to the gameplay. Managing your positioning so you don't get surrounded or cornered or back attacked is very important
Climbing puzzles needed more to them but I suppose many of them were loading screens correct? My biggest complaint is I could only use 2 special moves at a time, sucked having all these skills and not able to use them
