We all know this game is a disappointment, user. We just don’t care for it.

Everyone gave up on FFXV story when they realized it couldn't compare to the trailers of versusXIII

demon Luna

I don't disagree, but there's some interesting shit in here

Attached: D4_ofJHUIAApO5q.jpg (2048x1152, 210K)

>what could've been
A terrible fanfic that shits on the intended ending of the game?

They seemed to be pandering really hard to the Versus crowd in this. I'll see if I can find the story details.

Ep Luna:

>Luna wakes up in an underground tomb after her death in Altissia following the ten year timeskip. Reaching the surface, she's forced to run from a Deathgaze Daemon. She runs into Solaria and a hunter group, and they try to escape. The Deathgaze catches up, and the two are forced to fight; Sol is experienced, and Luna is forced to use a spear Sol is carrying. She is attacked by Deathgaze, but it is weakened, and when it grabs her, it disintegrates and leaves her arm marked. The hunters, including Sol, are wary of her both because her wounds heal abormaliy fast, and they don't believe she's Luna as...well, Luna's been dead ten years.
>Luna is surprised by the world's state, being taken to a temporary base where she meets Cindy. Umbra also appears and has a joyful reunion with Luna, but when she tries sending a message to Noctis Umbra resists. Noctis is safe, but currently unreachable. Luna decides to keep a note of her journey. The next bit's a little fuzzy, but she seems to help Sol with repairing their vehicle, showing she has knowledge beyond her role as the Oracle as well as martial skills.
>Luna is visited by Bahamut in a dream. The narration says that Bahamut is different from the other Astrals; while the other five are tied to the world of Eos and intimate with humanity, Bahamut is a celestial being who eclipses both humans and the other Astrals in power. He tells Luna her task is unfinished, and shows her a vision of Noctis's sacrificial death using the Ring. However, this was the original course of events; Ardyn's rampage through Insomnia with Ifrit and refusal to follow his destined path means the Ring now isn't enough to purge Eos of the scourge. Luna must now travel to defeat Ardyn herself; Bahamut resurrected her and gave her the power she now possesses to destroy Daemons for this purpose. Luna's puzzled, but as this new fate may save Noctis's life, she's ready to follow Bahamut's lead.

(1/?)

>Luna tells Sol about her mission, and while initially sceptical Sol agrees to take Luna to Lestallum for the time being. During their talk, Sol asks Luna about her harsh training as the Oracle. While Sol can't understand Luna's dogged response that it's the will of the Six, Luna can't understand Sol's belief that such duties should be fun and rewarding to perform as she's never asked for anything in return for her magic. They then get a call from Biggs; the ruins Luna was in were from the age of Solheim, which holds a powerful Daemon called Sapphire Weapon. Sol decides to investigate, and gives Luna some new and easier-to-wear black clothes. Sol and Luna have another argument, this time about whether it's right to follow the Gods' will above her own. Luna reflects that she's seen a large amount of suffering and death in Niflheim due to people blindly following someone else's decrees, and begins questioning her own autonomy. As she accompanies Sol to the ruins, she absorbs Daemons she defeats, getting increasing numbers of black marks on her skin. Sol then asks Luna's personal wish; it's to laugh with Noctis. Sol pretty much says she should make that wish come true.

(2/?)

>Aranea is trapped in the ruins with Sapphire Weapon; Sol is ordered to seal the ruins with Aranea inside. Luna insists on going in and absorbing Sapphire Weapon, even though her body's reaching its limit. While Luna knows Sol's family history from their talks, and knows Nilfheim killed her mother, that doesn't apply here. She's helping a girl named Sol save her mother Aranea. And that's Luna's choice. Turns out Luna trained in the ruins long ago, and knows a secret backdoor inside. As they enter, they discover a statue of Aera Mirus Fleuret. Aera's spirit speaks to Luna, showing Ardyn's past and the truth of the Oracle's power; a derivative of Ardyn's power to absorb and heal those touched by the Scourge. Luna's shocked by the revelation as she only used her power to wipe away the scourge rather than absorb it, and Aera ends with an appeal to save Ardyn.
>Broadly speaking, the mission's a success and Luna absorbs Sapphire Weapon. But then they find out the truth; Aranea was infected with the Scourge, and ordered the ruins sealed before she turned. Using Aera's vision as reference, Luna embraces Aranea and absorbs the Scourge. But this finally transforms Luna into a Daemon version of herself, which Aranea begins to attack. Luna retains her sentience and will, and Sol manages to stop Aranea. Luna is detained and imprisoned in Lestallum. There, Luna's predicament is discussed by Gladio, Prompto and Ignis. They're astonished by Luna's return, and saddened by her current condition. As there seems no hope for her yet she retains her sense of self, they decide whether to grant her wish to travel to Insomnia

Attached: D4-rocdU8AEQZQE.jpg (1003x1039, 289K)

>During this time, Luna has another dream. This time, its Gentiana/Shiva, who warns her against Bahamut's direction. Bahamut gave her this power not specifically to defeat Ardyn, but to become a new host of the Starscourge, effectively turning into a goddess of darkness, to fulfil his own plan; the purging of humanity, using the combined powers of light (the ring and Crystal) and dark (the scourge as embodied in Luna) to trigger Terra Flare, basically Bahamut's ultimate world-purging power. To Bahamut, humans are like flowers in significance, having no individual value. When the Great War of Old broke out between humans and Ifrit, and then between the other Astrals, Bahamut became disgusted with the whole situation and saw the world as having fallen too far to be redeemed (explained in more detail in next chapter). He thought the other gods would use their powers to purge mankind, but they so exhausted themselves in the fighting as to prevent this. Shiva now wants Luna to thwart Bahamut.
>Determined to help Luna, Sol plans to break her out. Aranea catches her in the act, but moved by Sol's appeal helps her rather than stops her outright. Luna and Sol barely escape as an alarm sounds. Luna travels alone on Sol's bike while Sol holds back the pursuers. Luna also entrusts Umbra with a last message to give to Noctis when he awakes. The chapter ends with Luna in the Lucian throne room, facing Ardyn, who is surprised by her appearance and her wish to talk rather than fight. Luna proposes that they cooperate in halting Bahamut's purge.

>Ardyn's rampage through Insomnia with Ifrit and refusal to follow his destined path means the Ring now isn't enough to purge Eos of the scourge. Luna must now travel to defeat Ardyn herself; Bahamut resurrected her and gave her the power she now possesses to destroy Daemons for this purpose. Luna's puzzled, but as this new fate may save Noctis's life, she's ready to follow Bahamut's lead.
Maximum fucking cancer trash fanfic, glad this shit got cancelled.

Translations from Twatter

1. Luna from Episode Luna. The Draconian recovered her body with power of daemon and revived her to fulfill the new mission. She has the power of daemon like Ardyn.

2. Episode Noctis, the last Battle Concept Art. The player has to switch character between Ardyn, Luna, Noctis, Aranea to defeat Bahamut. With Prince, Oracle, Female Dragonian, Mysterious man, they are party of 4 characters just like traditional JRPG

3. The Reunion. After Bahamut was defeated. When the dawn come, Luna wake up and alive again. (By power of Gentiana/Shiva)

4. The Funeral for Ardyn, as the Founder King of Lucis.

5. Luna and Noctis stand behind Ardyn's coffin. It's just empty coffin with his hat above.

6. The Ending Image, the name of two children are..... it's leave to everyone imagination.

Ep Noctis:

>Noctis is in the Crystal dreaming, seeing memories and flashbacks surrounding Ardyn and Somnus's pasts, Ardyn's actions, and Luna's death. Noctis wonders if he's no different from Somnus in the whole tragedy. Bahamut's urging him to think of nothing but his mission, but Noctis goes on remembering, this time Regis and how he was accused of pampering Noctis as a boy, of what happened with Ignis and Ravus in Altissia, Luna's pain and struggles during her own journey to prepare his way to the Astrals. He muses that he just wanted to live a normal life with Luna. Waking up on Angelgard, he recieves Luna's message via Umbra; to meet her at the Citadel. On the mainland, he meets Sol and learns of Luna's transformation. He considers that the gods offer no salvation for Daemons, and decides to save Luna no matter what.
>The scene changes to Luna. Despite his death playing right into Bahamut's hands, Ardyn refuses to listen to Luna's pleas and is about to attack, but Aera's soul speaks to him. He can't bring himself to kill Luna himself because he can't bear seeing Aera die in front of him again, but instead summons Ifrit to do it and leaves. In parallel to their battle, Noctis fights his way through Insomnia alone, defeating the possess Kings of Yore and hearing Somnus's plea to save Ardyn as he has lived in regret for two millennia. Now he knows what he knows, Noctis curses Bahamut for leading them to this point, as it was Ardyn's powers to absorb the Scourge that led him to this path. Meanwhile Luna uses her power to purify Ifrit. Speaking to Ardyn as she does this, she reveals her plan; to trick Bahamut into appearing to unleash Terra Flare, then he can be weakened to the point that he can be killed. Luna asks for a Covenant and Ifrit agrees as Bahamut's now a threat to Eos, causing Luna to collapse from the strain of overusing her powers.

Attached: autistic attention to detail.jpg (1200x675, 134K)

>Noctis enters and sees Luna, who loses her sense of self even as she speaks with Noctis. If he doesn't attack her, Bahamut will. Noctis's role as the True King is eliminate darkness from the world. This next bit's a little fuzzy, but it reads like humanity has no divine protection because of the darkness within them that caused wars amongst the gods, and Luna has become the embodiment of that darkness. The threat Luna poses triggers Bahamut to raise the Citadel into the air in an effort to protect the Crystal. Duplicates of Bahamut (messengers maybe?) appear and begin attacking humanity. Noctis and Ardyn individually warp up to the Citadel, while Noctis's friends are drawn there while pursuing Noctis and end up there by accident alongside Aranea and Sol. Noctis sends Aranea and Sol to evacuate Lestallum, while Noctis goes with his companions to find Luna and Ardyn.
>Ardyn knows and relates Luna's plan, but is unwilling to participate. Basically it's a back-and-forth between Noctis and Ardyn. Noctis convinces Ardyn by appealing to his messianic desires, and gives him to Ring of the Lucii to use against Bahamut. Noctis also says that the only salvation he can offer Ardyn is true death, which using the Ring will provide. Ardyn reluctantly agrees.

Where the fuck is the summary for Episode AraAra?

>They divide into two fronts; Ardyn clears the way for Noctis to face the physical manifestation of Bahamut, who is using Luna's darkness to activate Terra Flare; while Ardyn himself goes into the other world and destroy's Bahamut's spiritual self. During the real world battle, Noctis is aided by the other five Astrals, but even their combined power won't stop Terra Flare, which will be many times more devastating than earlier great outbursts of power and potentially ravage all of Eos. Noctis shares his powers with the others, who unite in battling Luna - who is purged of the Scourge but being used as Bahamut's pawn as she begins unleashing the destruction of Terra Flare across Eos - while he faces Bahamut with the Astrals. Ardyn uses Providence to obliterate Bahamut's spiritual self and fades away, briefly hearing Aera's voice. At the same time, Bahamut's physical self is destroyed. With Bahamut's death, the Crystal and the Astrals, along with magic, begin to vanish. The Citadel crashes back to earth, but Noctis, Luna and his companions are saved by Titan. In her final moment, Gentiana heals and revives Luna, wishing her a happy life. A bright light appears in the following calm; not Terra Flare, but the dawn.
>The scene shifts forward. The Starscourge is gone. Insomnia is in ruins, but as magic is gone from the world and the power of kings has lost meaning, people are seeing it as a memorial to the past time of kings. Lestallum was mostly spared due to the evacuation, and the power plant is undamaged. The Nilfheim continent has become fertile once again, either due to Shiva's power vanishing or Terra Flare not impacting it much, and it's set to become a bread basket. Tenebrae wasn't much damaged, and the royal palace is being rebuilt. Altissia has been rebuilt, and it's there that Noctis and Lunafreya are finally married.

Done for now

I don't think there is one yet. There's a little bit on Aranea in the Luna one though.

This shit genuinely sounds like wish fulfillment power fantasy fanfic.
Honestly glad it got cancelled because it straight up shits all over the original theme of the game, the theme of ultimate sacrifice for greater good.

>Honestly glad it got cancelled because it straight up shits all over the original theme of the game, the theme of ultimate sacrifice for greater good.
Episode Ardyn already did that though.
And like it or not, it's canon.

Episode Ardyn doesn't conflict with the story at all though, nothing about it contradicts anything in the main game.
It's Episode Luna and Noctis that were always meant to be alternate end.
Ardyn was just a prequel and Aranea was a side story about the fall of Gralea as she, Biggs and Wedge make a desperate escape, we know this from the old summary slideshows they released back in 2018.

Completely and utterly this. Every single line of this reads line some awful fixfic by a disgruntled fan who decided "Fuck you. Happy end for everyone." and didn't give a single shit about world consistency or themes of the original.

It's also manages to completely shit on the original ending and makes it not some triumph that ultimately saved the world, but not without some sacrifices, into everyone playing more or less into Bahamuts hands and being played for suckers. This is awful.

Attached: 1449619194657.jpg (500x500, 52K)

Don't forget that this basically goes against the Versus ending because we know for a fact that the ending is one thing Tabata DIDN'T change from Versus.
This shit is a dumpster fire like Blitzbomb FF10 novel.

Episode Ardyn pretty much revealed that everything that transpired was just Bahamut's epic forthelulz preordained puppet show Sure, it didn't outright retcon pieces of the story like Luna actually being alive all along, but the narrative and the themes have already been cheapened.

>the ending is one thing Tabata DIDN'T change from Versus.
?

But the story was literally always preordained from day 1, we always knew this that Noctis is the chosen sacrifical lamb, it's why Regis asks for forgiveness as he lets Niflheim into Insomnia while sending Noctis out in secret so he can accomplish his sacrificial mission. That and crying like a bitch while holding shota Noctis since he knows everything that will happen.
That's why Episode Ardyn is only meant to be played after beating the main game, cause it expects you to know the story same as Episode Ignis.

This shit is straight up fanfic happy end shit.

It doesn't matter anymore

Versus XV is coming and it will be definitive version of XV that it originally supposed to

>effectively turning into a goddess of darkness, to fulfil his own plan; the purging of humanity
Her hair turns pink at some point in the story, doesn't it

Tabata erased a lot of shit from Versus.
Solheim wasn't an ancient nation and was a current-day power with its own crystal, each nation except Niflheim had its own crystal for a total of 4 like in classic FF.
One in Insomnia, one in Solheim, one in Altissia and one in Tenebrae.
Niflheim was collecting them for power like the evil empire it was much like in FF games of old (FF4 being best example).
Insomnia invasion was playable and had Noctis and his crew attend the party on the eve before.
All the continents/nations were supposed to be their own open world maps, not just Lucis lands.
Game has Kingdom Hearts 2-like battle system.

All that shit got axed by Tabata, most of it due to deadlines since he was a Yes-man that agreed to just shit the game out for the 2016 Holiday season no matter what.
Generally Solheim and Tenebrae got cut entirely, Lucis got mostly untouched aside from playable Invasion being cut and turned into Kingsglaive, Altissia got reduced to just one district of the city and Niflheim got reduced into a linear train trade and because of those cuts they changed it so only Lucis had a crystal as 2 of the 4 crystal owning nations no longer exist in relevant form while Combat got changed into Hold O to Awesome for casuals.

i know about all that, but when did we ever learn that Noctis was originally meant to die in Versus?

Just fucking move on to XVI holy shit I want to play it before 2050

People always speculated it from all the death themes that Versus had and Insomnia fetishizing and worshipping death.
Then there's the fact that Nomura said he used his Versus ideas in KH3 and Sora dies at the end.
And then there's Tabata himself saying he didn't change the ending from original Versus outline that Nomura handed to him.

Yes, they admitted this when they announced season 2. It's an alternate timeline that only exists because people wouldn't stop demanding a happy ending for Noctis.

>because people wouldn't stop demanding a happy ending for Noctis
Fuck those "people" that can't accept that not every ending has to be sunshine and rainbows.
FF15 has a bittersweet ending yes but as the word implies it is both bitter and sweet.
Noctis died but in turn saved the world and reunited with his beloved in the afterlife, I don't see this as particularly bad ending, quite the opposite really.
I'm only assmad that Episode AraAra got cancelled since I wanted to fucking explore Gralea and see it go to shit.

>versus XV
What?

Barry is retarded enough to think Squeenix would waste money making a remake of FF15.

This is going to sound weird, but I really can't go along with the idea of the summons being actual characters and big players in the world.
To be told, "It's time to go save the world from the ultimate mastermind and threat, BAHAMUT!" falls a little flat when I've been carrying that scaly bastard in my back pocked for what, 30 years now? And using him to deal 5500-ish non-elemental damage to enemies. I just can't feel hype for that. They should be plot points, not active agents, like Meteor in IX, and how Bahamut himself is in IX

Attached: Bahamut.jpg (850x1130, 256K)

Are you retarded?
This isn't the first time that Summons are actual key characters in the story.
Notably FF4, FF6 and FF14.

I can't speak for XIV, but in neither IV nor VI they're key agents. They're in the sidelines, they don't exactly move the story forward, they're incidental to it because the plot itself has other agents that are actually doing stuff, planning stuff, stirring up The Big Problem that the game puts you up with solving. You don't play IV and learn, ahah! It's IFRIT who's behind Golbez! Having bloody Ifrit be the penultimate boss in XV just feels lame when he's the very first boss in VIII. Likewise, having Bahamut be the actual villain feels just as unsatisfying. Like you play a Mario game, and Bowser is being manipulated by an ordinary Hammer Bro.

Attached: Shiva.jpg (797x1000, 106K)

It's not like they never did it before.

FFXIV for example.

ARR is a sequel to 1.0 tho.

Nigger in FF4 the Eidolons are the core story reason for why Rydia is a thing.
And in FF6, Terra is a half-Eidolon herself.
And in FF14 they are literal malovelent gods that rule the world.

This sounds like the ending of FFVI.

Kingdom Hearts/Nomura fans think that Square Enix was unhappy with FFXV and would actually give Nomura another chance to redo FFVXIII.
Kazushige Nojima was the writer on Versus's original plot and the FFX novel.

>Kazushige Nojima was the writer on Versus's original plot and the FFX novel.
So? He also wrote FF10 itself.
His work is clearly very hit or miss.

Like I said, I won't speak for XIV since I haven't played that fully so I can't make any opinions on how the story handles Primals.
And yeah, in these games the summons are integrated into the world and part of the worldbuilding and they can even have some character.
But I'm talking about the big name summons we know, Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut. I like it better when they're incidental to the story, just small parts of it, not protagonists, or antagonists directly.
What is Leviathan in IV? It shows up, sinks a boat, takes Rydia away from you for its own reasons. That's the extent of its influence in the plot. That's the extent of any summon's influence in the plot. What's Ramuh in VI? It shows up, gives you exposition on why Terra is sick, and promptly goes into your pocket. Same case.
What's Bahamut in IX? A big old eidolon, powerful as all hell, but still a mindless weapon that's used by the actual characters, Brahne, and Kuja, to do their dirty work.
What's Bahamut in X? An NPC, shows up, makes fun of Tidus a little, disappears for a while, then comes back later to give the party exposition on stuff. But the main antagonist actors are still Seymour and Sin (who is also a summon, but here's the big thing, NOT an already-established one).
Now what's Bahamut in XV? Central actor, major force driving the plot, eventually becomes the big villain of the story, eclipses Ardyn, eclipses Nilfheim, the plot and story is about him, what he wants, and how to stop him.
It could be just me, but I just don't enjoy seeing them in these main antagonistic roles. It doesn't let me take them seriously as villains and final bosses.
I don't suppose it makes a whole lot of sense but I hope I managed to explain it alright.

Attached: Rydia - 2.jpg (900x960, 190K)

Serious question but are you fucking retarded?

>Central actor, major force driving the plot, eventually becomes the big villain of the story, eclipses Ardyn, eclipses Nilfheim, the plot and story is about him, what he wants, and how to stop him.
None of this happens in FF15, that's only in the fucking fanfiction novel that's not even canon to the game.

In actual FF15 the summons are basically FF4 tier in that they are their own self-aware entities but they still all go into your fucking pocket with the exception of Ifrit who went into Ardyn's pocket. Bahamut has a total of literally 3 scenes in FF15 itself, one if just giving you an exposition dump, and the other two is him being a scripted cutscene summon pulled out of Noctis' pocket.

All the shit you complain about is exclusively in the fanfiction novel.

Oh so now i have to read a book on top of all that other shit? God forbid i have the game's story contained inside the videogame.
Jokes aside i'm replaying FFXV right now and i'm reminded that it does have many fun ideas in it, it's fun ruining around filling up and emptying your quest log and wasting your time exploring or fishing, taking photos, listening to the bros interacting with each other or imagining what all the good looking food taste like. As long as i'm ignoring the story completely then it's a fun game. Just a vacation simulator in fantasy land.
But i have to say this battle system? What a god damn mess, it has intricacies that are not explained or required, it's more complex than simply holding square but holding square works fine. Visually it's unclear, again messy is the word and i feel half the skill is in making sense of what the hell is happening and identifying where the damage is coming from but it's okay though since you can heal easily. I wouldn't call that good battle design. Coming straight from Devil May Cry fighting in FFXV has been very difficult for me.

Attached: 1403270887279.png (512x548, 181K)

FF15 is a turd more news at 11

You already asked me that, user.
And I think I made the mistake of just talking as if the novel was already an integrated part of the game and just rambled on from that assumption onwards. Apologies.

Attached: Marilith.jpg (409x764, 173K)

>A terrible fanfic that shits on the intended ending of the game?
But XV is already a terrible fanfic that Tabata wrote onver the intended story of Versus XIII, user.

>Ded gem

Tabata mostly cut shit, he barely rewrote shit which is why the game is a mess full of gaping holes.

Coming from XII to XV has been difficult because the worldbuilding in THAT game is so well polished that I was incapable of playing XV without getting fits of anger. Goddamn empty bestiary with no worthwhile lore to share.

>Nomura and Nojima work hand-in-hand to create Versus 13
>it's the culmination of everything Nomura has worked on for all these years
>bring on Tabata as co-director sicne they're worked together before
>"Tabata, management wants me to work on KH and FF7R so I'm leaving this in your hands. Please see that my vision is completed"
>"Don't worry Nomura, I won't make any changes. I'm just here to make sure it gets done."
>Nomura leaves
>"Fuck you Nomura, it's my time to shine. I'm mkainng changes."
>proceeds to change literally everything about the game outside of a few characters
>even changes Noctis' personality, which is nothing like any of the trailers released under Nomura
>remove key characters
>adds Kingsglaive and its movie to make up for cutting out most of Versus 13's opening
>game comes out, everyone complains that the story is trash outside the ending and just wants Versus
>create surveys and questtionnaires because he's visionless and has no idea what he's actually doing, both before anad after release
>promises more DLC to fix all the problmes he created
>it just reads like really bad fanfiction, leading more people to just wanting Versus and none of Tabata's abortion
WHAT A FUCKING MESS

Attached: tabby JUST.jpg (1960x1950, 242K)

The whole first half of the game, the part with the bromance and the 4 fags doing pointless shit it's all on Tabata, that was the game he wanted to make, the second half of the game is what was left of the Nomura game that Tabata coudnt replace cause of no more development time.

Nomura himself said the brotrip was always there tho

You better have actual news at 11 you retarded liar

The best version of FFXV's story was the one at launch.

It's not exactly a complete turd that was my point.
It's half a turd. The combat system can be used if you take a less spamy approach since you can't readily identify incoming damage you have to keep on the defensive all the time only going in on isolated enemies and pulling off warp link strike attacks. You can also do more advance stuff that i don't understand because it sure isn't explained anywhere but if you do nothing but hold square you're going to get wrecked immediately but that's fine you can't lose the game only one's personal pride can be hurt here.

Ignore the story dude, ignore the lore. Go fishing and do some fetch quests that's where the game is at. Fight some monsters.

He said that the brotrip was in but with a more serious and darker tone to match the destrucion of the city that was going on.
the tabata brotrip is literally an happy picnic in a sunny day.
It's a completely different story.

I'll give it another chance in the future. If I managed to play through XIII, I can play through this as well.

>Fight some monsters
Too bad the combat is one, if not THE worst even seen in a JRPG, for sure it the most boring one, with 2/3 of it being basicaly useless(like magics and summons).
Even 25 years old SNES games ahve better combat gameplay that this dumpsterfire.

Remember to do the story until it asks you take a boat toward Atlissia (quest name is Brave New World) at which point you stop, don't do that and go play the open world camping/hunting vacation simulator.
That is my advice to anyone wanting to play FFXV.

Attached: 1450983139316.gif (664x550, 1.37M)

>If I managed to play through XIII, I can play through this as well
XIII is way much more payable than XV, because is all tight and focused on the main story, if that engage you, most of the job is done.
XV on the other hand is a dilued and empty game, with boring filler content and a barebone huge world to navigate, with half the story of missing and a rushed ending that appen after what basically is a COD campain that is the last part of the game.

Can't really call you out on this but it becomes manageable once you get lots of HP augments that allow you not to get one shoted out of nowhere because fuck trying to identify incoming damage in this visual mess.
Switching characters in battle is really cool.

Whether or not it's hit or miss, what mattered is that we got the Fabula Nova Crystallis stuff in its purest form--what we got with the FFXIII trilogy was the FNC interpreted by Toriyama and Watanabe, and what we got with the Agito Cycle was the FNC interpreted by Chiba.

Versus as written by Nojima would've allowed for a greater, if not more fleshed out understanding of the mythos that drove those two games thus allowing us to swiftly and accurately judge whether or not it works as a valid framework to launch an entire multimedia franchise off of once and for all.

Stop posting Zeal

Nevermind FFXV, I just want Type-Next to be a thing. I fucking love Type-0.

>Switching characters in battle is really cool.
yea, its the only reediming factor of the battle system...too bad that feature came out an year after the release.
After a month i already completed the game with no will to ever put a finger on it ever again,, so that addition felt like a massive FUCK YOU to the loyal fans that bought the game when it was an early access disguised as a full release.

>I just want Type-Next to be a thing
After the firing of Tabata, i have no hope to see the continuation of the Type brand at all.
Its a fucking disgrace, since it was the only FF game came out in the last 2 gens that was actually good and felt like a real FF.

>fire

He said he left because he was bored you idiot.

No, this is the best Version of FFXV's story youtu.be/IcUSXub_ypU

That's what you get for buying things at release.

Man they really fucked up Nomura's vision hard

Is Type-0 reall that good? I tried playing it a few years ago and I just couldn't into Type-0 so I wrote it off as a shitty spinoff title

Why do they keep expanding over this shitty game? Why? Do people even care?

The only way it can happen, though, is if legions of fans keep telling every Square Enix representative that they want Versus XV to become a reality and not as Verum Rex, as there are many issues that Nomura can't explore there if Disney supervises that game's development. It already happened once with the Active Time Report a year and a half ago, but we all know that it can't be said only once.

Translation:
>Thank you for entertaining us. The second half of the game's story felt very unsatisfactory. Apart from that, we are also very interested in the differences in the story and worldbuilding produced when during the game's Versus era. We wanted to see Stella if at all possible. We look back at the many changes that occurred and feel slightly sad and wistful (wistful being my--the translator's--addition).

That was when the seeds were planted for internal Versus discourse as we know it, but who knows for sure if Square Enix listens to them now.

Attached: COMMENTS ABOUT VERSUS.png (1920x1080, 1.65M)

On one hand, I like it because its dumb and convoluted and very Final Fantasy-like. On the other hand I hate it because it completely undermines the themes of the game, and changes the only good part of the original game (The ending).

Attached: XCYpZfs.png (526x785, 446K)

It has a really great story and a superb soundtrack. The game isn’t too long, nor is it too short. It allows you become OP if you’re good enough at it, and you can get some OP shit if you grind for a while. It’s part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis trilogy (FFXIII, FFXV and Type-0). The universes are all linked slightly by different things like Gods and Eidolons. E.g. Etro is present in all three.

While Tabata may not be there, scenario director Hiroki Chiba and Takatsugu Nakazawa still are.

Tabata was responsible for day-to-day management and laid down story foundations, though much of the gameplay and actual dialogue writing was handled by those two guys mentioned in that spoiler. Oh, and of course, don't forget that Nomura had input too, but that may or may not be necessary depending on how you'd like to envision a Type-1.

It's actually pretty good. When I was in high school, I called it a better FFXIII than the actual FFXIII and still do today.

It certainly isn't as good as we imagined it to be when it was still untranslated, though, to be honest. Still doesn't make it a bad game.

Cont.
Combat is unique too, you can “kill sight” enemies which is where you can basically one-shot them or exploit their weakness to do massive damage if you wait for them to attack and time your attack correctly. It also has a small RTS mode which you can access if bonus missions if you opt-into them at the beginning of a mission. There’s a shit-ton of stuff you can do if you ever get way into it, for example the Tower of Agito which has many floors of endgame bosses that can be fucked up if you have the right spells.

What would you like the next game's story to be like, Yea Forums? Serious, somber, lighthearted, a mixture? Very high adventure save the universe from doom, or more low-key personal goals? High tech or fantasy, back to western aesthetics or something else entirely?

Zeal is full of shit but VersusXV leak is not coming from him. It's coming from here, in Yea Forums

Speaking of which, here's something funny Zeal tried to pull on Twitter which his followers STILL believe, mind you. *headdesk*

Attached: LMAOOOOOOOOOO.png (1920x1080, 1001K)

I wanted a somber tragedy but they mucked it up with this game so if the next one is also a tragedy that won't do. They're had their shot but they blew it.
In any case it's got to be about saving the universe in a FF game.

This, fuck that nomance shit. Broadtrip 4 lyfe.

Attached: bros.webm (640x360, 1.16M)

How in the fuck is Bazztek/Barry so obsessed with this game? It’s a fucking clusterfuck. This whole goddamn thing is a mess. And I saw his Twitter earlier because in another thread somebody posted a screenshot. If anybody makes even the slightest criticism of FF XV he goes fucking nuts. People were making legit and valid criticism of Square being scummy with the DLC and he literally tries to deflect the attention to Persona 5. I shit you not he tried to flip this whole thing and bring up Persona 5 DLC.

I have never seen anything like him. This is beyond obsession. This is scary. I don’t even think the people who made FF XV obsess about it as much as Bazztek does

Attached: 6335B221-8BEB-435E-AF9A-265A3A6F501E.jpg (540x376, 38K)

Lmfao

Why are you so obsessed with Bazztek, user?

Nobody mentioned him until you did and it was fine like that.

Because his autism and sheer blind loyalty fascinates me. Like I never seen anybody so obsessed with a bad game to the point where he is . It’s amusing

Final Fantasy XVI, as directed by me?
Well, here goes.

>Runs on the Radiance Engine (an upgraded version of the FFXIV engine, the most user-friendly version of Luminous by far)
>Seamless overworld battles
>Active Dimension Battle ver. 2, essentially FFXII but with combination attacks and Gambits disabled on the active player character
>Somber, with low-key personal goals but with several daily life moments that bring awe and moments of joy into the game's world
>Story ultimately slowballs into a narrative about people displaced by war and their efforts to make a life in a world in which their country exists
>Characters designed by Kazuya Takahashi who in my opinion is the next Nomura
>An aesthetic derived from Ancient Rome, with lots of influences from North Africa and the Middle East, but with the customary influences from Japan and Korea in in-universe 'foreign countries'
>Lots of blue in the architecture to contrast with the golden arid sands of the desert
>No steampunk/cyberpunk influences because that can be explored in another numbered Final Fantasy game I'll make a proposal for, just straight up swords-and-sorcery fantasy

Will continue later, but it's the kind of FF game I wanna see--but it's not the only one, no doubt at all.

Zeal and his group are insane, they literally think fucking everything is versus XIII
Kingdom Hearts III? Literally Versus XIII
Nier: Automata? Versus XIII
Devil May Cry V? Versus XIII
Fucking death stranding too.
They get mad if you even suggest that Versus XIII is likely never going to be fully realized.

Attached: 1555783712423.jpg (6832x4364, 1.94M)

>CGI movie
>4 character episodes
>1 multiplayer DLCs
>1 upgrade DLC
>Novels

All just to tell the story OF ONE GAME. That is sad.

Probably the number one reason why it sucked, too much splitting of resources/too many cooks.

Don't forget the developer interviews because you have to watch two japanese men explain bits of lore in a youtube video if you truly want to grasp everything.

>Final Fantasy with Roman aesthetics
We haven't had this yet, have we? That could be cool, especially if other parts of the world have aesthetics inspired by places like Babylon, Persia, Sumeria, very, very old cultures. We have plenty of "medieval" fantasy, I think it could be cool to have a more "dawn of history" one. Still with the classic elements though, like Black and White mages with their distinctive clothes and stuff.

Attached: Dissidia.jpg (850x941, 314K)

So how exactly was Nomura going to show this "serious and darker tone"?

>a world in which their country no longer exists

Ah, fuck me. Sorry.

user, if you think that's bad, wait until you see what he tried to do in these threads the over the past few weeks when his GameFAQs account was linked here. It's not for the faint of heart. Barry posted gore--and possibly CP--just to get mods to try and nuke the thread, but ultimately, it didn't work.

I still love the broadtrip and the 50's Route 66 vacation aesthetic to death mixed with the Empire dropships hunting you. I think that's why people like Bazztek are so obsessed, it would have been less of a game to obsess about if it were just straight bad like 13 or really good like IV. A bad game with moments of pure kino/greatness though, now you have an eternal war on Yea Forums.

that's even worse

>actively checking his twitter
>obsessing over someone's autism
Final Fantasy VII?

Attached: ogura.jpg (923x653, 160K)

It's true--his followers just rally around him like he's the Pope or something. He literally formed a cult around himself and what he calls Nomura's vision (even though we don't know for sure as to what it was). Funny--Zeal identifies himself as The Young Pope, thus outing himself as one of those rad trad MAGA shills.

Better than being a child pornographer, unlike what Barry turned out to be the other month.

You act like this is something new for Japanese games.

Oh, I should also add to --don't forget that time Barry threatened to rape someone over a shitpost. Can't forget that too.

Attached: 1481842734021 (1).png (1052x560, 140K)

that is sad when a shitposter tried to nuke a thread that was calling him out on the piece of shit everyone knew he was

>Final Fantasy VII?
No. FF15

All the FF7 stuff is expanded universe that came out years after release. All the FF15 shit was cut content (or in the case of the novels, cancelled DLCs)

>You act like this is something new for Japanese games.
I know but XV takes it to disgusting levels.

>I know but XV takes it to disgusting levels.

Bahumut is actually quite important to plot in FFX but they subvert this issue by delegating majority of plot points to the fayth, separating it from the Aeon you summon quite well.

I've actually sort of infiltrated the "cult" or at least their discord server. It's pretty boring all they do is make autistic theories and brainstorm fan projects that they never follow through with. Just earlier today today two of them had a hissy fit and wrote fucking paragraphs because I said that I don't think Versus is going to happen. I might be outing myself here since I know they stalk the versus/XV related threads here but whatever.

Okay, the fact that you've pried into this stuff this is just too juicy. Any screencaps? Please, my LMAO quotient has been steadily going down, and I am therefore, dying.

This one is fake but it look retarded enough to be Nomura's writing

I mean a lot of the stuff is cringey but nothing is really juicy, Zeal isn't really active and when he is he's just spouting his usual bullshit.

You say that, and yet at least ome person is aware of demand for what the story was meant to be.

The problem is to convince them that it’s the right thing to do.

to the Japanese, there is always many gods

centralized power such as god of gods always are arrogant fucks

The two Things disappointing about XIII were that Gran Puls was empty and you couldn't even explore any Ruins and that you had to read up on the Lore. The Rest was okay.

>needing to write a book because your games story was shit
whew

its because they finished the script but were kicked out when the dlcs were canceled

>the chatlog you post
>the cringe itself is juice

It’s even an echo chamber there too! Couldn’t imagine it could get any worse, but here we are now!

Barry is sucha dickhead - i doubt it will lead to much punishment for him unless the cops do investigate and find a large stash. I do hope some user did call it in though. A Barry free Yea Forums would be nice,

I like you a lot more than the way xv-kun tries to shill this over in /vg/.

They literally refer to themselves as "the faithful" because of their "faith" in versus. It's fucking retarded, also here's Zeal making up shit.

then you will hate XV.

Ooh, saving this one.

Also, for someone who claims to be aware of what Nomura's doing, he sure doesn't know how to capture his style when discussing what are supposed to be actual story events in what would be Versus XV.

>that actually sounds like an ff plot, instead of the "FUCK YOU, YOU DO WHAT THE GODS TELL YOU"
so basically, it was Fabulla Nova Crystallis again

I hope SE has learned some lessons from this whole debacle.

While I'm not as nutty as those guys, I waited my entire teenage life for Nomuras version. Honestly wish FFVIIRE would get canned or handed off and then Nomura announces he's working on FF versus XV. A complete redo of the game. If anime can redo whole series, why not an FF game.

You know he wants to.

Attached: Verum-Rex-Kingdom-Hears-3-feature-image.jpg (1000x523, 156K)

For that matter, here's my attempt at capturing Nomura's style:

>reading

Attached: bruh.png (645x773, 11K)

Agreed. I don't see this opinion too often, glad I could find someone else who didn't really like how the summons were the "gods" in FFXV.
I liked how it was in this supposed leak better: pastebin.com/QAz8R9AF

why couldnt they just finish the story in the game

The only reason as to why I'm so into the VII remake and Type-0 is because I was SUPER interested in Versus--beyond that, all I think of whenever I think of superb FFs I've played are V, VI or XII.

Nomura certainly wants to, and Square Enix is aware that there is demand. But as I've said in this thread, the only way to actually convince them is if we rally fans together to yell 'WE WANT NOMURA'S UNADULTERATED VERSUS XV' at every turn.

During the E3 event, we'll all have to yell 'Bring back Versus!'.
During the FFVIIR orchestra event, we'll all have to yell 'Bring back Versus!'
During each and every KH3 orchestra event, any one of us at each performance will have to yell 'Bring back Versus!'

Better yet, buy up shares in Square Enix Japan, Europe and America and stall shareholder meetings by protesting 'Bring back Versus' whether in writing or in voice. But alas...

a part of this grander attempt at making a headcanon story based on those fake leaks and other fake leaks scattered throughout the 'net:

I see what's going on here.

Good now maybe Square will do the smart thing and abandon FF 15 and put some actual effort into 16. 15 was shit but had a spark of (utterly wasted) potential, if they just stop trying to emulate Western games a go back to basics then 16 just might be okay

They have, that's why Yoshi is gonna direct FF16.

>start trolling some ffxv fanboy years ago, give him nicknames like XV Kun and find his Twitter/gamefaqs account, prove its the same guy, etc
>Years later he's still posting and Yea Forums is still trolling him

Legit haven't been in a FFXV thread for 3 years, I'm surprised the community is still fighting this guy

>Nomura certainly wants to

Well maybe he should have done it when they first gave him his chance. It shouldn't take 10+ years to develop a game and if you've got time to sit around with a thumb up your ass making tech demos, then you have enough time to release a game.

That's not so simple--Nomura's staff was pulled away from him time and time again to work on FFXIII, FFXIV and anything related to the Crystal Tools engine.

For that matter, read this writeup I wrote in which I tried to flesh things out as best as I could:

Attached: The whole Versus XIII and XV story.png (1920x3177, 2.28M)

I would only add one thing to that
>airship buried beneath the desert

>that forced smile
hilarious, reminds me of the gender reveal cuck dad

>Active Dimension Battle ver. 2, essentially FFXII but with combination attacks and Gambits disabled on the active player character
sounds better than XII, but I wonder if gambits could work in a fully real time action rpg with party members

So what's going to be the excuse for the FF7 remake, since the same exact shit is happening all over again. SE has even chosen a new whipping boy now that Tabata up and quit.

Episode Ardyn already ruined everything for me with them hitting you in the face that the Astrals were bad guys all along. The tragic end with ambiguous deities just worked; Ardyn anime'd it in all the worst ways.

Good because Nomura took his sweet ass fucking time as a hack

Holy shit, how didn't I think of that!!? Thank you, user. May you ever walk in the Light of the Crystal.

Also, Chocobos will function like camels but have to be captured UAE falcon style. Still thinking of more ideas, but it's really coming together.

- Your best ancom girl, Stellafag

>Retread of XIII's "Bring back our god" plot.
This doesn't exactly fill me with confidence either. Fabula Nova Crystallis was such a mistake. The lore was fine before, just the Void and Crystals and various worlds served as a cool framework in which to set your stories and had a lot of flexibility, why did they have to go and wipe it out.

In FF8 they cause Alzheimer's

FF15 would unironicly be a better game if they cut out all of the other story and just made it about a prince going around his country on vacation, righting wrongs with his bros, make the final boss Admantoice and you'd have a decent game

I want FXVI to be
>1930:ies prohibition/noir theme with a dash of french revolution
>You play as a gang member, italian maffia style
>gangsters in FXVI deal with pulverized crystals, which give people temporary magical abilities
>"Gangsters" are actually clans of real magicians who are able to charge crystals with mana
>The MC is a time mage with attitude
>Story is about how he falls in love with a rival gang prostitute who ends up being a princess whose lifeforce could be used to awaken the elder eidalons
>the story turns into a mix of romeo and juliet, bonnie and clyde, robin hood
>Other cast members is MC:s manlet friend (thief), a two meter black woman with attitude (monk), Char Aznable (Red Mage, Guest party member), the prostitute princess (bard/dancer), an alcoholic moogle down on its luck (white mage), a ninja assassin girl (black mage with ninja aestethic)
>endgame is that Char Aznable tries to sacrifice his sister (prostitute princess) to take revenge on the corrupted New Republic
>character development is the story of "from zero to hero", with an emphasis on the theme "nobless oblige". The mc becomes a man who takes action because he has the ability to take action

General character design according to these principles:
youtu.be/wTfjABD1mz0

Attached: 1509233382027.gif (500x362, 2M)

Most probably KH3 DLC and setting up the next saga, but rumors are swirling around an FFVIIR reveal event that'll be held this June--along with (pic related), though unverified (and perhaps fake, unless the European date system is what's being used here).

Attached: 1556280307971.jpg (4128x2322, 2.23M)

I want
>4 character party
>some what light hearted mood
>Job system with accessories that denote changes but don't clash with the character's base outfits
>High-tech fantasy like FF 12
>Big stakes but not world ending tier
>Lots of customization for the characters abilities
>Return of the gambit system
I pretty much just want a remake of FF 5 or something that gets close to the quality of that game

Attached: Final_Fantasy_V_Box_JAP.jpg (425x235, 20K)

Man I fucking loved V.

>Tabata DIDN'T change from Versus.
You have no proof of this. Nomura implied in kh3's ultimania that people still don't know what the actual plot of versus was

>FFV with FFXII's gameplay and modern graphics

>Nomura implied in kh3's ultimania that people still don't know what the actual plot of versus was

Nomura himself didn't know what the actual plot of versus was.

>SE has even chosen
That guy was on the project since the beginning and had already been described by nomura as basically his co-director in all but name years ago, tabata was brought in half way through

does Noctis kill himself by kicking a bomb he thought was a soccer ball

Why would you say that, the script was already finished well before the reboot happened
It didn't even drastically change until tabata took over

Attached: Proof that Versus and XV are fundamentally different.png (1000x368, 74K)

>All these Anons that want Versus
You guys are stuck in the denial and bargaining phases, you have to let it go it's not healthy 15 and Versus is dead

I would argue Episode Ardyn - doesn't - cheapen the ending, or his character, since the whole "pre-ordained" thing is pushed in the game proper as well. Ultimately, Ardyn HAD to be the catalyst by which Noctis became the True King (and thus the sacrificial lamb) since the impetus for the Ring's power (Kings of Yore + Crystal) was Noctis' suffering. The 10 years of darkness Ardyn wrought is just collateral, and ultimately minuscule to the long term threat the Scourge posed to humanity, the Crystal and the Astrals. The Astrals didn't have the power to wipe the Scourge, and the Scourge had the power to infect even the Astrals (see: Ifrit) so the only way to get rid of it was to collect power over generations of time, and the Lucis Caelums were the vector for that plan. It sounds cruel (and really is) but it, from the perspective of the Astrals at least, is for the "greater good".

What trash no

>you have to let it go
Nomura clearly hasn't

>Good now maybe Square will do the smart thing and abandon FF 15 and put some actual effort into 16. 15 was shit but had a spark of (utterly wasted) potential, if they just stop trying to emulate Western games
If only FF15 had tried to emulate western games, the quest design might not have been complete garbage.

Though pray tell, how did a jrpg where you play as a group of effeminate boy band members in matching black outfits, that was pradoxically linear despite being open world, somehow emulate western games?

Attached: 123404034332.jpg (2000x1328, 496K)

I was thinking...

>multiple gambit slots, but you can combine slots together to form actual behaviors
>you can have party members cycle between behaviors

Think--Gambits and Paradigms had a baby.

I wish this salty bitch would live up to his threat about leaving if SE tampered with FF13vs.

>his threat about leaving if SE tampered with FF13vs.

Holy shit, source!?

Thanks user.

Attached: exd.jpg (600x800, 55K)

>If only FF15 had tried to emulate western games
That's exactly what it did and why it was so shit, it's very obvious that games like The Witcher inspired 15 for all the wrong reasons. Also New Vegas is an outlier and a throw back to the old days most Western games fallow the same quest structure that games like Autonama follow or are even worse (Dragon Age Inquesition and Fallout 4 come to mind)

user it LITERALLY chased after the stupid open world RPG with quests trend, when every other Final Fantasy game follows a far more guided plot structure with areas that unfold in logical sequence one after the other.
I love New Vegas, but even a good implementation of something like that, is not what I want out of my Final Fantasy. I hope they abandon this idea completely and never visit it again. Hell, I'd be absoolutely stoked if they actually learned their lesson and actually brought back AN OVERWORLD for XVI.

The best thing Square can do is just copy Dragon Quest at this point. Make a generic but extremely high quality mainline game using DQ11 as a base and they could win back some good will

>having to read a fucking book to understand the story of a video game

jesus christ

>games like The Witcher inspired 15
How would that be possible? Triple-a games take many years to develop. The Witcher 3 came out a year before FFXV. Most of the things about FFXV would have been finalized by the time TW3 came out.

gonna be honest, I don't like this one bit

Attached: bitch is sleeping.png (640x486, 358K)

>if they just stop trying to emulate Western games
You do realize pretty much every thing people associate with old-school FF was copied from western rpgs: the party-based combat system right down to specific spells and classes/jobs, the overworld, even the tradition of getting an airship, etc.

Attached: 1544567776881.png (282x347, 60K)

If you read , you'll know what Western games inspired Tabata!FFXV.

Maybe not Witcher 3 specifically but this user is correct, Square was obviously trying to cash in on the open world meme (five or so years too late) and failed miserably

True, but right now they're trying to copy modern day AAA Western trash like Assassin's Creed chasing after the open world meme and quest structure. DQ 11 shows that it's possible to incorporate some of that if you actually give a damn while picking what works instead of making the entire game like EA or Ubisoft would.

The entire thing that made XV's ending fantastic was the whole "accepting your fate" bit, so I'm honestly kind of glad this shit was canned because it really does reek of fan-fiction (which is odd because I thought Episode Ardyn was a genuinely good sendoff that didn't really put a wrench in the existing lore).
EVEN with the context of Episode Ardyn's two endings, Bahamut never seemed like his goal was to eliminate humanity, only the Scourge.
I'm okay sticking with XV I still want Versus someday though.

Attached: Goodbye, my friends.png (640x458, 120K)

yeah except squeenix forgot what made FF (and DQ) famous, the "streamlined" part of your pic related

>The entire thing that made XV's ending fantastic
Huh? I thought FFXV's ending was awful. It was completely unearned. There was no buildup or symbolism whatsoever to Noctis sacrificing his life, so it fell completely flat for me. And the flashback to the sappy campfire scene with characters literally crying felt incredibly heavy-handed.

Agree, too often protagonists get everything handed to them. The original ending wasn't even that bad? They reunite in some manner, along with a Gladio's sister.

So the patched PSP version of type-0 is the way to go, right? I own the HD version and on top of the motion blur and asset disparity being fucking cancer I remember trying to parse the fucking translation and it reading like god damn gobbledygook bullshit, making it hard to know which menu was the fucking level up screen

It was the first part that got summarized.

>To add salt on the wound, Nomura gets all the
fan hate for "ruining XV" rather than Tabata.

While his handling wasn't stellar either. I can't blame Nomura for going "Fuck it, I'll make a new thing to remind me of Versus inside of KH itself if I have to!"

XV was really his baby and tabata just took a gigantic dump over it. So glad he is gone.

>To add salt on the wound, Nomura gets all the fan hate for "ruining XV" rather than Tabata.

In what world? Every single time someone says anything about Nomura his mealy-mouthed fanboys cry about how the higher ups at SE are actually to blame. But when it comes to Tabata he is the scum of the earth that ruined Nomura's "artistic vision", despite the fact that XV was basically dumped into his lap and he was forced to finish the game quickly because SE had a deadline to meet.

Jap culture works different. People are never fired, cause that makes the company look dishonorable. They instead put the person they want out in a uncomfortable situation or doing a shitty mundane task long enough for that person to call it quits him/herself.

So basically, the "he left" is just a fancier way to say SE wanted him out after the big money loss they were left after XV, but simply did t the japan way and forced tabata to step down on his own.

>was basically dumped into his lap
He was asked to direct XV, not forced, and didn't even say yes at first.
>finish the game quickly
He got 4 years and made development harder on the team by making retarded decisions against the advice of his team.
The reason why tabata gets shit on is because there is evidence showing how much of an idiot he is

Is a new good FF game too much to ask for nowadays?

>He was asked to direct XV, not forced
Just like Nomura was "asked" to work on a thousand games all at once. I'm sure nothing bad would have happened had Tabata insisted against doing it.

>The reason why tabata gets shit on is because there is evidence showing how much of an idiot he is

No, the reason he gets shit on is because fanboys can't accept that Nomura should have stuck to being a character designer because when it comes to directing he is shit at it.

That's where a lot of people get wrong. Many assume Automata's story is this clusterfuck of side-content when in reality is super straight-forward even if you are coming it with no prior experience.

Unlike XV, all the main plot points are obtainable in the story itself or in-game reports already inside the game. while it adds extra flavor, you don't really need to know about Flames of Prometheus or the boys YorHa stage play or even anything from NieR beyond what you can find in reports.

The only one that really I could argue fit the notion is the original YorHa stageplay and even then it gets a summarized bit in the game itself.

The Taroverse is a huge clusterfuck of media ONLY when you want to take it all as a whole.

user it's okay to admit you're retarded, we're here for you

i like XV, and have fond memories of the rollercoaster of development
i want versus someday too
why can't I feel both of these?

In my some 23 years of playing video games I have never seen such a disjointed video game up until I have played FFXV

There is no excuse for this. And many of you keep eating up the DLC for some reason.

If you have hope for future FF games then please commit suicide.

Attached: 1513711844940.webm (1280x720, 2.11M)

I'm pretty sure that's how most people feel.

While you may not like Nomura and his games it doesn't mean that others aren't allowed to, just accept your taste is different than others. Regardless of your personal tastes he actually puts together full games and has vision.

Tabata did not have anywhere near the experience to lead a mainline FF title and it was made painfully obvious by the retarded decisions he made through development. Now the entire situation wasn't his fault, the upper management put him in a position to fail, but he still failed at it all on his own.

dog = Square Enix
woman = fans of VS XIII
cookie = FF XV

>Just like Nomura was "asked"
You know, trying to shift the blame here doesn't really work, since tabata admitted it himself
>No, the reason he gets shit on is
Do you think I make up facts?
dualshockers.com/final-fantasy-xvs-biggest-internal-discussion-was-on-making-the-game-open-world-or-not/
>We learn that the biggest argument during development was on whether or not to use open world technology for the game. Especially part of the engineers thought that since the game was based on a story progression, it would have been better to go with switching maps with an event-driven system, and focusing on enriching the content. There were also some who thought that by making an open world game, they would increase the chances of it failing.
>Yet, for Tabata-san it seemed appropriate for an RPG set in a story in which you travel the world to be actually open word. There was also the fact that at one time in the past Final Fantasy was seen as the cutting edge in RPG, and the aim was to get back in that condition. An open world setting is a good way to convey that modernity.
How about actually reading up on the guy you're defending instead of being retarded

I still see a lot of people, specially people with big fanbases and so called "game dev contact experience" still blaming Nomura AND ONLY NOMURA for XV.

And while tabata wasn't the entire reason why it went to hell, his insistance on changing things did became more of a hindrance than a help.

Really the REAL villains of this whole mess are the Se higherups themselves, who yanked the project off Nomura's hands with the genuine excuse on having to finish KH3 already, but then jump dumping the project on Tabata and forcing him to get it done on a tight deadline.

I'm specially calling out that fat fucker from YoVideogames that keeps thinking he has "inside knowledge" and knows shit even thought he spend years putting his fingers inside his ears and acting like Splatoon 2 sales weren't good just because he sucks at the game.

That sound butt-fuckingly retarded.

Many in Yea Forums thought he was a powerautist until he was right with KH3 being the worst one.

Open world wouldn't have been an issue if they you know, did it properly.

>Actually make the map as big as they showed it off to be
>Don't cut over half the games locations
>Fix the cities, allow visiting them for the ones that were cut, increase the size/open up the others that were in the game but obviously chopped up
>Make dungeons unique interesting areas like all previous FF games instead of copy paste mines (Gladio DLC was a good example of a unique true FF dungeon)
>Fix the world map themes so they stop getting interrupted constantly

What a fucking mess of a game.

Wait. Luna has a fucking rapier in this concept art ?

>2. Episode Noctis, the last Battle Concept Art. The player has to switch character between Ardyn, Luna, Noctis, Aranea to defeat Bahamut. With Prince, Oracle, Female Dragonian, Mysterious man, they are party of 4 characters just like traditional JRPG
THIS is what should have fucking happened in FFXV. THIS sounds like a FF plot. What the fuck was Tabata thinking?

so if I understand this correctly, Tabata is literally retarded and thought that an empty open world was better than a system where medium-size maps would change depending on the story?

Well rarely a concept is fucked on its infancy, it's more when its being built where it falls apart.

Open World wouldn't have been an issue but the deadline set by SE and the budget already spent before turning into an Open World made it way too difficult to fully bring it to reality.

Tabata is not a very smart person

Attached: 1542050878587.png (444x221, 122K)

Do you have a better quality version of that fan art ? I never saw it before, I'm pretty sure its new

Looking back and, while I do like some of these titles, Tabata always had a disdain for full parties and a boner for action styled gameplay.

Crisis Core, Type-0 and even 3rd Birthday all have similar gameplay philosophies when you sit back and think about it.

To be fair SquareEnix does love to throw his name in every project

Attached: Nomura work.jpg (1050x2362, 697K)

I knew exactly who you were referring to before reading the spoiler, it makes me a little angry to see how uninformed some people are on the whole situation and they keep spewing completely false information. The general population doesn't understand that Nomura didn't "fail", he was stalled by SE higher ups, the engine, and was never given his full sized team to work on the game because they had to go fix other problem games. In the end the management team pulled him off the game and forced him to get to work on KH3 and 7R. To make matters worse they put a woefully underprepared individual in charge of XV and we all see how that turned out.

Hearing Max praise Tabata and scold Nomura is the silliest thing ive ever seen.

literally "oh you wanted Stella instead of this useless character? here, take it and be glad we listened to your demand for once", but not done like people wanted

>FF8
>story

That alone should be enough reason for why Nomura should never be allowed to write.

He didn't write FF8, what are you talking about

I actually thought the dungeons were great. The open world itself was many more problems that you forgot, like being empty, uninteresting, lots of unreachable spots that should be, no swimming, lack of enemies (agressive ones at least), etc.

>FFVIII
>character design, battle visual director, monster design, story

You can always look up the link instead of being retarded.
It says he helped come up with the characters background, not the actual plot of FF8

Agreed. I will always respect Yoshi P for somehow being able to flip around XIV and make it become of the most sold MMOS around, but seems people forgot that around the time Versus XIII was in development SE were basically running around like crazy headless chickens at the fire that was vanilla XIV, putting all their eggs into fixing that it above every other project.

Ao even before he was pulled back to work on KH3, he was already experiencing getting his staff taken away. It was a complete shitshow.

Personally, I have no hatred towards Max, since all he really knows/cares with FF is "Is this like FF7?" and that's it since he is a fighting games guy. It's Simmons who I utterly despise and called out because he's the one feeding Max the lies and acts like he is this big hotshot with insight knowledge when really all he does is ride the coattails of his way more popular streamer friends. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Simmons who told him that Tabata did nothing wrong and it's all Nomura.

user come on now

Attached: 2 seconds in google.jpg (650x331, 46K)

And the characters were shit. The fuck is your point?

10/10 saveface user

There's only so much you can do when your main scenario is absolute shit.

It'll always make me mad that XIV even failed in the first place, just another blatant example of SE management being completely braindead. They had run a successful and original MMO for nearly 10 years at the point they started working on XIV and yet seemingly threw every ounce of experience they gained from that into the trash, outsourcing the new project to china. It's a shame that titles showing an immense amount of potential like XV and XIV were forever ruined because of idiots in suits.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, I can't hold it against him but at some point I really do wish Max would take the time to learn the real story behind XV. Someone preaching to a platform as large as his needs to have their facts straight.

>You will never hear this, especially the Somnus part while you fight alongside Ardyn, Luna and Aranea to end Bahumut's bullshit and defy fate

Attached: ffxvnaruto.jpg (1136x1011, 125K)

*FREEZE FRAME*
Yup, that's me.
You're probably wondering why I'm crushing the head of my body guards little sister.
I'm gonna tell you, because we didn't put that into the game.

Attached: Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition Super-Resolution 2018.03.29 - 09.05.59.65.jpg (5120x2880, 2.1M)

That'a chocolate, user.

What's even more hilarious is that then you look at the Dragon Quest side and you rarely find any big drama or development disaster story and if they are they may be way more tight-lipped about it. It feels like whoever oversees DQ sees value in "Let them devs work and they'll get shit done" rather than start putting their hands in the broth before its even inside the pot.

Sadly that won't happen, specially cause Max found this obnoxious new running gag of jokingly saying he is an expert and then calling something of another franchise because LOL SO RANDOM AND SILLY. He's an entretainer so he doesn't need to educate himself, but Simmons can't entretain for shit and kept acting like he is this big boy just because he can do a shitty Dr. Doom voice every few months.

It's a shame they wasted such a beautiful graphics engine on a world that is horrendously boring.

I'm very happy that shit got cancelled

They cut the good looking areas or made them DLC, that's why we get generic landscapes instead of Final Fantasy ones.

Attached: 1521665815392.gif (500x192, 1.29M)

Yeah, it had potential, but in the end it felt like an unfinished game/benchmark/sandbox

Attached: piggyback3.jpg (3840x2160, 2.35M)

So basically replace Bahamut with Bhunivelze and possessed Luna with Etro and we have what probably was the main idea for Versus XIII.

This "leak" over here seems more and more likely as time goes by.

stop shoving your big projects onto one platform. This was retarded during last gen,its retarded now. And get a game director that doesn't have ADD and a zipper fetish

Nah, it completely ignored Noctis's ring. Which nomura said was an important item in the story.
Then dataminers found this in xv, which looks like a death god handing what could possibly be that ring to someone

Attached: 3EYtM.jpg (2048x2048, 348K)

Was any of this true? I haven't tried ep ardyn yet.

Attached: lr.png (1870x673, 229K)

None of it is

good to know, saved the image out of future curiosity

Blitzbomb was fucking based, I salute the writer who had the courage to pull it off.

XV is such a painful game to think about, so many great ideas and concepts that were thrown in the trash or cut from the final product. It kills me that they had a top tier cast and made half of them into NPCs.

>Implying the connections between VersusXIII, Kingdom Hearts and Death Stranding were made up by Zeal
Zeal is an idiot, but you're twice an idiot if you think there are no connections don't exist just because Zeal said so; tons of people already noticed them both before and after him; they're so blatant you have to be fucking blind not to realize them.

all of them ending up dying is the only good thing about the game.

imagine actually playing through the invasion of insomnia ingame as it should have been

Attached: 1521893159976.jpg (1200x900, 206K)

And most of those NPCs ultimately end up doing fuck all. The pacing of the story is just awful, almost nothing happens in the first, open-world half of the game and character development there is minimal, the second half on the other hand is obviously rushed. Really, the only character outside the party who gets enough mileage is Ardyn himself.

those are plaques on the front base of the two oracle statues in Insomnia / the Citadel, they're still in the game
go zoom in on them with the camera, still there

Ardyn was wonderful despite having to do it all himself, the facade of the empire he was supposed to work behind was cut to shreds but he still managed to get the job done alone. It's a real shame we couldn't have characters like Cor, Aranea, and the others as full time party members, so much wasted potential.

truly the greatest failing of XV is completely failing to realize that the most interesting part of VXIII was the tokyo meets fantasy aesthetic and gutting the focal point of that aesthetic

That's true, the dark-fantasy Yakuza aesthetic of Versus XIII was truly what made it so interesting in the first place.

Altissia also looked pretty damn good in the 2013 trailer though. Too bad that Tabata could not understand why Versus was so popular.

I wouldn't have minded this ending just for a two way Bahamut fight. Don't delude yourselves into thinking the actual ending was any good. It was shit, just like the rest of the game.

Sure, but Bahamut as the mastermind is something really retarded.

I'd prefer if Bhunivelze just appeared out of nowhere to having Bahamut as the big bad

Storybros prefer OG ending

Gameplaychads prefer more boss fights

Either way the game is still fucked up and it makes me sad.

>magitech based, equivalent of our current tech or slightly more advanced
>low-key personal goals, with interesting characters. Main antagonist does not need to be evil, it's philosophy should contrast with mc.
>possible spinoff from antagonist side.

Do not care

Fantasy like FF9. Combat like 15, but make it not one button. Fuck open world.

>radiance engine
Into the trash it goes. FF XIV looks abysmal.

>ancient Rome
>character based,low-key personal goals
Great taste

It would need some fusion of magic and technology(as Romans were pretty advanced on latter part)

They shouldn't have removed the FNC stuff from FFXV. Type-0 could keep it, why couldn't Versus XIII ?

Unless FFXIII-2 and LR really stole a lot of concepts from Versus XIII as rumored.

>hey, here's our complete game
>and here are dlcs that fuck over story in complete different direction
No, thanks.
Imagine ff7 dlcs where Aerith comes back as a demon and you team up with Sephiroth to beat Lifestream, who was evil all along.

I don't read moonrunes and I've already lamented on what could've been before XV even released, let alone trying to understand their stupid alt universe thing

>Combat like 15
No

people still care about this game?

Source of that pic?

Well the idea of Versus was to be more of a tragedy, if there were any villains I imagine they were Ardyn, Etro to a degree, and Bhunivelze.

Did they seriously unironically turn Ardyn into a Dindu nuffin?

Wow this entire sidestory reads exactly like the leak

What did he mean by this?

Attached: wait for it....png (1000x498, 65K)

what if the FFVII remake will actually be FFXVII

>you have to let it go
How can we "let it go" when not even Nomura himself did?

Attached: serveimage.jpg (300x168, 7K)

Actually the International release of FF7 included tons of fixes and new content. Upgraded versions are not a new thing for Square.
The DLC/Movies/Anime are not "necessary" for XV, they hold about as much weight as any other FF spin-offs.

Because we have to be the better man

we can't be better than Nomura himself, user

So what in the original Timeline Bahamut just wins and Terraflares everything to death?

Agree. Bahamut just pops in at the end and says he has to die. Zero build up

XV-2

at least it's not bad as gundam franchise

This reminds me back when i was in elementary school and people would talk about catching Mew in Red/Blue.

So if that faggot Tabata fucked off, why didn't SE just get another dickhead to direct the DLC? Obviously Tabata did nothing but fuck about by splitting the story up like the retard he is into different medias (at least fuckhead Nomura kept KH 90% in game form). Was he that essential that without him, there's no FFXV?

A fucking novel? What kind of bullshit is that, I had to sit through brotherhood and that fucking movie about someone not even mentioned in the game for this?

My apologies for the autism, just had to get it out.

>just get another dickhead to direct the DLC
Tabata never directed any of the dlc. He was a producer on all of them while other members of his team directed them.

>Open world wouldn't have been an issue if they you know, did it properly.
Thank God someone finally gets it!
Literally every problem with OWs could be fixed by simply speeding up travels and removing invisible walls.

Attached: FFXV's (((open))) world.png (1276x1866, 1.32M)

It was a hot mess being written during development with nothing finalised

>mentioning FFXV

fuck I'm mad

But that's wrong

I wonder why everyone who hates Nomura does so entirely on the basis of fake news that could be disproved by less than 1min. research

VII was a similar like style, having additions and redrafts late into development

>since it was the only FF game came out in the last 2 gens that was actually good and felt like a real FF
>what is World of Final Fantasy

Atlus are hardly a shining example of good DLC practices but what they do with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal is the kind of model FFXV's DLC should have followed.

The Royal Edition should have been it. None of this episodic season pass shit, work your ass off to patch in cutscenes, fill out the story, add playable party members and and additional scenarios.

Instead we got two years worth of disjointed and spread out DLC packs that didn't really help with making the actual main story feel more like a complete experience. The second half of XV is still one big corridor with a ton of gaps in the plot.

Attached: C0jcDxGUoAAAD0X.jpg (640x360, 33K)

How can any sane person who enjoys RPGs/JRPGs even enjoy FFXV? I've never seen such a trainwreck in any other medium that has been created by humans for entertainment/art/

Attached: 1514659177422.jpg (640x728, 65K)

Most XV fans are people whose first FF was XV

Every FF up to 15:
>a shitload of differently inspired and fully-explorable cities and towns
FF 15:
>2 cities + a shitload of fucking boring generic military bases almost undistiguishable from each other
How do you fuck up SO BAD?

>Combat like 15, but make it not one button.
Being one-button isn't even 1% of FFXV's combat system problems

Attached: bad on purpose.jpg (444x221, 68K)

FFXV was my first FF but all it's done is made every FF game I play seem like a masterpiece by comparison in terms of content and satisfying story that isn't rushed. After XV, I appreciated the XIII trilogy even, hated as it is.

FFXIV is my current fav.

Attached: eb3d4def83dc1c0c78296d2b10fd92ea.jpg (800x1200, 661K)

>Aerith comes back as a demon
Somehow this thought makes me hard

I can't believe fucking XIII got 2 sequels to complete a story that no-one gave a fuck about and was done with the first game while they left XV, a game people have waited 10 years for, riddled with plotholes and just shittieness all together. Might as well have dropped FF from the title completely to lessen the disappointed and just went with a king's journey or something like that game within the game.

I want the MC to be the Player Character someone you can create and assign a Job to and switch throughout the throughout the story.

I also want more fantasy no more cyberpunk/modern/futurstic shit.

>2020-1
>still blaming Tabata and Nomura when the real culprit was Wada
that old fuck wanted FFXIV 1.0 to be rushed out so that it would compete with WoW and almost bankrupted the fucking company

Tabata was a mistake.

Okay this is fucking retarded and I'm glad it was cut. Jesus I though it would feature a slice of her life in that cool looking city. Instead we get some random shit nobody cares about or wants to see.

I mean I don't hate XIII or Type-0 but why the fuck Square made them such a big thing when Versus was the original Fabula Nova game and the one that was to be the "ultimate take on the mythology" according to the writer.

Type wasn't even originally a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, they forced Tabata to tack on the lore for some reason.

XII-2, Lightning Returns and Type-0 got made but Versus XIII didn't. WTF. Although it does feel like certain ideas from Versus treakled into those games. Caius the immortal tragic villain (Ardyn) and the 4 crystals of orience and that karmic cycle, Versus had 4 crystals too and Verum Rex in KH mentions something about karma so it could've been versus thing too. Pisses me off the actual Versus XIII never got made though.

>FFXV was my first FF

You're definitely underage aren't you?

>Type wasn't even originally a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series
Well that's because Agito XIII wasn't included until a year after the FNC concept was created. It was originally just FFXIII and Versus XIII.
>Tabata to tack on the lore for some reason.
No they downplayed some of it's aspects due to the poor reception of FFXIII

I'm in my early-mid twenties but I got into JRPG's pretty late. I've played VII, X, IX and VI in that time though. I still have XII on the backlog.

>How can any sane person who enjoys RPGs/JRPGs even enjoy FFXV?
My First FF was I back during it's release year. XV is above mediocre, some enjoyable parts but ho-hum otherwise.

>player has to switch character between Ardyn, Luna, Noctis, Aranea to defeat Bahamut
They would've ruined Ardyn's story as well with this shit. Thank god it was cancelled, based Square

what's this gif referring to? it seems familiar

>can't bring himself to kill Luna himself because he can't bear seeing Aera die in front of him again
Did they pull a fucking Martha moment on Ardyn

Most XV haters never played the full version of the game with DLC. It's a decent game. Combat is shit, yes. But it's not annoying shit, it's the kind of shit you ignore and move along

>JUST IGNORE THE GAMEPLAY TRUST ME BRO

Has there actually been this much stockholm for a FF game?

Okay who the fuck is Sol am I the only confused here

The roadtrip with the bros was really fun
Overall it's meh but it's not offensively bad, unlike FXIII and FXIII - part 3.

Most importantly, does Luna finally get a personality? I'm being serious, do they actually make her a person instead of exposition machine 1.0?

Attached: Luna x Noctis.jpg (1648x1706, 2.12M)

>combat IS gameplay
You must've loved 13 then because it's literally true for that game

Really? I liked some of the characters in XIII and and the world looked nice, albeit a corridor.

Soon. And by soon I mean 3-4 years.

Attached: FFXVI.png (1245x921, 1.4M)

FFXV is an action RPG, turbo nerd. It's either the interactive combat that's utter shit, or the walking around waiting for something to happen that's utter shit.

Don't you have to do that in every FF game? Don't tell me you enjoy using fire attacks on ice enemies and ice attacks on fire enemies because that is the extent of combat in FF1-10.

Well said.
The finale of XV justified the entire game.

No, it's an open world action game. In no way is it an RPG. Literally how is it an RPG? The leveling system is about as deep as you would expect in an open world action game.

This is why I am glad FF novels never translate to games.
>head writer of FFX wrote a book in which Titus' head blows up

>FFXVI
lmao you gotta wait ten years for the FFVII remake first

Yes it's a tumblr link I'm not copying it here like a retard

You’re joking, right?

Unless you have arguments sounds like I'm right.

>hoding attack button
or
>selecting attack, magic or technicks
are you legit retarded? do you really prefer ff xv combat?

They should do something more with the Comrades idea. Maybe make a full game around with optional drop-in/drop-out co-op and the MC not being the chosen one/protecting the future heir.

Was there really anything worthwhile there? I played it lightly when it came out, found it unimpressive but was satisfied because it let me make a cute girl.

I honestly like the concept of this game. Did they add more monsters? Because ff xv kinda lacks in enemy variety.

Neither of those combat systems have any depth, but one can easily be ignored and the other is annoying. I unironically prefer XV combat to 1-10 combat, both are shit, but XV isn't annoying shit. 12 and 13 combat was good though, not that ATB brainlets would ever admit it.

There was one thing that was really worthwhile and that was the hard mode Bahamut boss fight, because it was a legit, 4 person boss fight, with actual mechanics, tells, and patterns and not just random shit thrown at you all the time. BUT it's only at the end of the original campaign and no one queues for it anymore. There was also the setting which was neat, since it was set during the decade the world fell to ruin and the crafting system which was cool, though very broken. You could be so OP the hardest bosses would go down in seconds.

Just pic related. Everything else is recycled mobs.

I agree with XII, but XIII? For literally 3/4 of the game you can just select attack and you won't loose.

Enjoying them so far? I'd reccomend IV and V when you have the time (for story and for gameplay, respectively).

How is it not an action RPG?
>can chain combos
>can spam items
>has status effects and status buffs
>multiple equipment options

Valhalla looks like something that would have fit Versus XIII. Kinda like Bhunivelze, the sleeping god.

Art-wise the FFXIII trilogy is a mess without any coherence.

That's weird, normal Tonberry is exclusive to Comrades? Because I literally fought a Master Tonberry few hours ago on the road to Hammerhead after Noctis woke up.

She's the bastard granddaughter of Iedolas. She is raised by Aranea during the 10 years of the world of ruin. It seems that the Emperor's son died during some battle years before FFXV.

it started as a XIII spin-off and will die as if it were a XIII spin-off. I don't fucking care

Does anyone have that fan-made Youtube video showing FFXV 4K graphics? I can't find it anymore and it was posted all the time here when it released on PC.

they just shared mythology and common themes, from what I'm aware of.

I work out, eat dinner, have a snack, prepare for the JLPT, sneak in a battle into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and come back to Yea Forums. How on Earth is this thread still active?

And of course, HARNESS THE BURNING ANGER

HARNESS THE BURNING ANGER
give us a good DLC for KH3, that's all I hope for
and please give us Versus XV

Versus XIII would've probably had a vaguely similar cosmology, like a mortal realm, middle realm where etro resides and the unseen realm. But Nomura's take would've been different, Valhalla would've likely had a different name and looked completely different, probably more gothic given Nomura's tastes.

Dude, all HARNESSING THE BURNING ANGER did for KH3 was prove how petty Nomura is. He's willing to tear down this series he's built since 2001 in lieu of his edgy not!Noctis shit. I love the idea of Vs XIII but it has no place in KH and I no longer have any hope for the rest of the series now that I've seen how Nomura intends to treat it.

Versus crowd?
More like literally every person who was hyped by the game for years

So basically the original trilogy planned would have been:

>brotrip till Noctis gets put to sleep
>Luna journey to gather starscourge in the world of ruin
>Noctis waking up, reclaiming his kingdom and raising an army, righting the wrong done to Ardyn giving him a chance to redeem himself and killing off bahamut and magic

We'd lose the kino last scene but this would have been an interesting story. The whole needing to set things up to get Terra Flare seems forced but humans getting to reject magic and the crystal after the gods dangled it over their heads like drug addicts does have an epic nature to it. Still not sure how Eos fits into all this though.

I really would have liked to have seen this outfit in action.

>all the versus fags ITT
Look guys, I'm one of you but you need to learn to let go. Think of it this way, it is almost inevitable that Nomura will eventually direct a mainline FF again. It won't be versus but ideas from versus will definitely leak into it, but it will be something new entirely.

>it is almost inevitable that Nomura will eventually direct a mainline FF again
With the way they toss him around between projects, I'd be amazed if he didn't just decide up and leave in a few years.

Hopefully he pulls a Kodaka and takes everyone that matters with him, Square can fucking rot for all I care.

>All those times I got blindsided out of an attack
>All those times I thought I was staggering a foe then get molly whopped
>All those times I got K.O.ed by an super fast attack
It all makes sense now and I'm fucking pissed, Christ could you imagine DMC or Sekiro if Itsuno or Miyizaki had these kinds of ideas

>Comrades was the best DLC in terms of gameplay and story.

It's still FFXV's mediocre gameplay at it's core so that is not saying much, which is why I never got it despite the Sales.

>Expanding lore in novels and other bullshit

confirmed shit

A lot of the dungeons were incomprehensible labyrinths (the Sewers come to mind) but it was weirdly refreshing since alot of JRPG have reduced dungeon design to linear corridors, they also had some great atmosphere but were bogged down by slow dungeon movement speed and nearly useless maps

For those that didn't realize it, in FFX Bahamut is the hooded child that is present during every important story moment and pulled Tidus between worlds. The entire story doesn't happen if not for Bahamut.

Will the novels be localised?

>The DLC/Movies/Anime are not "necessary" for XV, they hold about as much weight as any other FF spin-offs.

except then they are content literally gutted from the game to be sold back

>tfw we finally get "Stella"
>ITS A FUCKING BOOK
Tabata really hates girls.

I've never met anyone that cares about this game in person.

>Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal
Release a fully realized game then wait a year before releasing a definitive edition with a bunch of brand new shit that radically changes the original game into a nearly brand new one but then expects the player to buy the game again for full price? If that's what you mean that's retarded at least Royal Edition was a DLC upgrade for 14 bucks instead of a 60 dollar new game. Fucking over the guys who buy your game first is a terrible idea

Don't fucking kid yourself user, the DLC was going to suck anyway.

I don't want to point fingers because the whole production has been such a cluster fuck for years BUT let's be honest; Tabata really fucking blew it as a director. I mean a dirt cheap game like NierA puts XV to shame mainly due to its director.
