Meanwhile Genos lost literally every fight he was in until just before the tournament arc, his entire purpose is to make others look better than him.

That mosquito was an extremely dangerous enemy absorbing the power of a whole city, and he lost because he let his guard down, talking to Saitama who he thought was an average citizen.
He was fucking Sea King up until sea king played dirty and attacked civilians. Genos "lost" because he threw himself in an attack that would otherwise have hit innocents.
Plus, Genos (at least in the manga, I'm not that familiar with the show) Keeps getting upgrades and growing stupidly stronger.
Like I said, the whole point is that he is AMAZINGLY strong, yet he looks like a bitch next to caped baldy

While Genos absolutely is meant to showcase the difference between what would normally be a shonen protag and Saitama. that fight would have been a foregone conclusion either way. And Genos would have lost badly.

I would accept all these except for one thing: Raiden's sword still turns Genos to scrap and he can use it with bullet-time speed. Against any other foe I'd give it to Genos but Raiden pulled off some ridiculous shit against an entire army of cyborgs, including performing a wrestling move on a giant mecha.

Not just that, see: Genos was fucking Sea King up, exactly until Sea King attacked civilians and genos sacrificed his body to protect the civilians. In a straight fight, Sea King would haven eaten shit right there.
As for vaporizing, when training with Saitama he took out a large chunk of earth two times with his attacks (granted not nearly as much as saitama with a pulled punch) but that was also Genos as his weakest upgrade level. Genos is also obviously an overpowered satirical version of characters exactly like Raiden. He is stronger by that virtue alone.

Honestly I want to say genos. But Genos has a habbit of getting torn to shreds in his fights and Raiden is kinda really good at it. So in the end Raiden, if not solely because of a running gag.
