I used to work for a guy who previously was a regional manager for BK. Said if things were done properly and standards maintained the food was definitely better than McDonalds, but for whatever reason BK could never get the consistent mediocrity they wanted to stick.

Most DQs have shit service. If you go to the average DQ that manages to fuck up something as simple as a blizzard with "take vanilla ice cream, add a single topping, and put it in a blender", and somehow end up with the wrong topping and also choco vanilla swirl for the ice cream, you're going to have a bad time if you try to order a cooked meal.
If you find a rare good DQ with servers who are decently competent, their chicken is merely okay but their hot dogs are actually pretty solid.
