Combined handheld and home console dev teams

>combined handheld and home console dev teams
>still WiiU tier droughts
can someone explain this?

sales are also on par with the ps4. probably because the hardware is so underpowered that all you get is ports and sometimes an original game by nintendo that isn't from the wii u

HD level games take on average 3-5 years to make nowadays.

Wow. That was easy to explain.

that's great for nintendo. But that doesn't answer my question, nintendo has had shit hardware for 1.5 decades now and the combination of handheld and home console did seemingly nothing

every game on the switch was made in like 2.5 years except botw

I’m calling now and screenshot this.
Nintendo will release a followup handheld to the 3ds and it will have switch games, but only low powered ports of them. Like everything else they do you will have to buy the game again.

Dude, why is it so fucking hard for people to understand. You buy a nintendo for nintendo games. You buy something else for everything else.

This is what everyone has been doing since ps1 came out. Get with the fucking times and move the fuck on. God damn.

I understand that, but despite double the amount of devs due to combining handheld/console, it's the same drought as before. Why?

But that's the problem. Just where are these new Nintendo games?

And every game on switch has been rushed as fuck.

4 board Mario party? Xenoblade 260p? Fire emblem warriors: Awful roster edition? WiiU ports

We won't see full fledged games until next year at least. Look at the PS4. It only started actually getting a steady flow of actual fucking good games after FOUR years after release

Nintendo still kept trying to support the 3ds

Why would they change? They survived this long with the same plan. Quality of quantity. This is why if you like nintendo games and cant deal with slow release you have to make up for it with a more mainstream console.

>Dead until the end of July
>If you don't life Fire Emblem then it's dead until god knows when
>Metrod Prime will probably release in 2021 and will most likely be shit because development hell
Why did I buy this thing.

they're rushed, but despite that and double the amount of devs there's still droughts? that doesn't make things easier to understand

by releasing double the games on the same platform, they can make more money

Why make anything new when old will due?

>2021
quite optimistic on your part

Games can take a long time to design and devs didn't believe the switch would be as popular was it was so it'll take time to catch up.

lrn2indie

but that doesn't explain the first party drought

I have a PC for the indie games.

But double the games at the same speed would not be possible without a larger investment on their end. Also it is best to save that for when the current business plan is no longer working, or else its harder to improve if desperately needed.

2019 has

>Nsmbu Deluxe
>Yoshi
>Labo VR
>Boxboy and Boxgirl
>Smash DLC
>Links Awakening
>Animal Crossing
>Luigi's Mansion 3
>Pokémon SS
>Mario Maker 2
>Fire Emblem
>Astral Chain (publisher) exclusive
>Ultimate Alliance 3 (publisher) Exclusive
>Daemon X Machina (publisher) Exclusive

And this is all before more Direct and E3 announcements. Name ONE other publisher with as much software output.

Oh, you can't.

Nintendo probably put half of there internal staff making all the Labo games.

Damn, you typed out so much shit that had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CONVERSATION AT HAND. Good job on your pointless ramblings.

You fag complain that nintendo have no games only because you cant enjoy a game anymore

Absolutely BTFO and mad as fuck

No one here has said no games, just slow games.

You mean the part where lets go and smash basically just came out

Yoshi, smash, and pokemon all came out recently user

>>still WiiU tier droughts
>can someone explain this?

Yeah.

You're gas lighting again

>you buy the most expensive base console with the most expensive games and most expensive add-ons for only one companies half-assed kiddy games.

The absolute state. I own a Switch and its mostly a BotW and local Diablo 3 machine. They havent even ported anything good yet for fucks sake.

>buying nsmb for the tenth time
>yoshi demo was good, easy but fun
>labo is for actual retarded kids
>literally a game about squares...
>dlc isnt a game
>looks bad to be honest
>usually good
>enh
>absolute trash
>enh
>literally nobody cares, smash players still wonder why they have so much representation when nobody likes FE games
>looks a little shit
>gonna be a great party game
>demo levels were pretty sweet

Quantity

Mobile.

Mobile is draining their resources. The myth that the EPD merger in 2015 would suddenly "boost" Switch games production like a funnel is in fact just mobile replacing handheld. ON TOP of their theme park/movie/merchandising gig. They are divided into divisions just like before with EAD.

They launched what 2 games for mobile?

Nintendo are just really bad at managing themselves, for every good decision Nintendo makes like moving Monolith Soft from 2 development teams to 5 and developing 1.5 games at once to developing 3, you have like 5 other retarded decisions like:
>retro studios still being one development team in spite of having released single games that have outsold monolith soft's entire lifetime catalog
>mismanaging retro studios and not solving any of their internal problems for a space of 5 fucking years
>developing phone games with your premier internal development teams
>cutting ties with development studios instead of putting one of their key developers in charge of them to teach them how to make games
>not marketing games or releasing them at the worst possible times, namely dillon's dead heat breakers and ever oasis releasing on 3ds at the end of it's life instead of the switch during the rush where everything on it no matter how bad sold well
>not funding the expansion of already existing studios like hal and int sys which make an increasingly smaller group of games

Nintendo aren't making cinematic games that require a full studio of 500 plus 200 additional staff for outsourcing additional assets, this isn't even comparably the same. Nintendo's own games are taking around 2-3 years to make, and most of that is Nintendo's own insistence on polished bug tested games, their development teams have always taken longer, only moving into the new generation Nintendo aren't wasting resources like their contemporaries on cinematic experiences with intricate detail, detail is normally wasted on scalable elements with the world, things like lighting, the ink in Splatoon, the grass in Breath of the Wild, the cloud sea in Xenoblade 2. This is unironically the best approach, even though Xenoblade 2 shat the bed and went for intricately detailed characters, and ran on an engine built for the WiiU.

That's cute.

Super Mario Run
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Fire Emblem Heroes
Pokemon Go
Miitomo
Draglia Lost
Mario Kart Tour
Dr. Mario World
The Legend of Zelda

One is discontinued and 3 are upcoming.

They need resources to maintain these mobile games, they get updated frequently. Nintendo is also anal about IP representation so you better believe they are on top of that shit 24/7. And the fact that they have to announce mobile games during investor meetings shows that this is the handheld replacement.

>The Legend of Zelda
>mobile
What?

have we gotten anything for ps4 this year?

>Yea Forums is still seething because they just report the most profitable year since 2009

>port of shovelware
>shovelware
>gimmick for soibois and not a real game
>a game, but a small download only one
>not a game
>unreleased and looks like shit
>no gameplay footage or confirmed date
>no gameplay footage or confirmed date
>literal garbage
>the first good retail switch game of 2019
>literal garbage
>the second good retail switch game of 2019
>capeshit
>the third good retail switch game of 2019
