I don't see any buzzwords there, but putting Automata that high up on a list of that title is ridiculous. Nier is a vastly superior game. I'd argue both games have mediocre combat. Automata has great animations, but that style-over-substance Platinum combat is wasted on what is essentially a numbers game with infinite dodge. Making the combat ridiculously easy.

I'd say Nier and Automata together are the greatest video game of all time.

As a "game" I'd say Automata was better but in general Nier did everything else better, except for the music. The characters were much better, the writing better, music is generally equal with Automata. Automata was fucking fantastic, but two of its three main characters were boring. 2B was just fuel for 9S' development and to make ironic weebs buy the game because "haha ass" while A2 was just a very toned down version of the angry bitch archetype that Taro puts in his games. The conflict between the androids and machines was pretty fucking cool but it lack the personal element that made the fight with the Shades a personal endeavor. And the machine lifeforms were cute looking but they were fucking boring to fight against.

I'd say giving an infinite Dodge is pretty reasonable when everything in the game kills you in one hit. Still have to be dodging to not get hit, considered in conjunction how well enemy attacks are telegraphed I see NIER:A's dash spam as pretty inconsequential since you don't need to spam it to avoid getting in melee and at the same allows the game to have large mob fights with buckets of projectile chaos on-screen and still provide players the opportunity to liberally position and reposition themselves without taking a single hit

Collating a bunch of subjective opinions is an objective metric of "unanimously agreed on as the best games" sure, but not objectively "Greatest/Best Games of All Time".

For example, I don't see how Super Mario 64 is objectively better than Super Mario Galaxy 2 considering the latter is better mechanically and aesthetically. Unless it's the best because it was the first to do something really well, which seems silly.

Calling anything in Zelda a puzzle flat out a crime. Its a game for toddlers, and just happens to resonate the sorts of people who feel a sense of achievement when following basic instructions like "when you see this symbol, play this song!" (Aka every "puzzle" using the ocarina).

It is when the game's combat is entirely designed around it, which is the case for NIER Automata. Enemy Audio and visual telegraphing in NIER Automata is incredibly thorough, unlike similar action RPG titles like Kingdom Hearts. And what excuse do you have for getting hit anyways when Dodge is "too OP"? Just because you're afraid of it, doesn't make it bad game design. You're afraid that you're not up to the challenge, or you just haven't played the game, if you can't recognize how core to NIER Automata's gameplay design very hard mode is.

To be fair, I do think that any "best" list should at least give games a 5-10 year cool-off period before adding them, otherwise the novelty factor will heavily bias the list.
That said, games that one played when one was a teen in his formative years definitely shouldn't be added either, too much bias. If games had to be replayed 7 times back to back before being added to the list a lot of these would be filtered out.

Shadow of the Colossus certainly isn't, at least in terms of gameplay. The soundtrack and atmosphere are the only things it has going for it. This might be one of the few games where watching someone else play it is more enjoyable than playing yourself.

Shadow of the Colossus put in a ton of work creating a very specific and unique experience. The downside it that said experience involves a lot of horse-riding and deceptive light beams.
Read Dead Redemption was basically GTA: Fictitious Town in Texas Circa 1911. It was loads of fun, but all the side shit was mostly gambling and QTEs.
