Good, but has unnecessary things for a SC game like Reversal Edge(a sort of a counter than goes into a rockpaperscissors thing) and Critical Edge(specials of the game) which breaks the fluid gameplay of first games.
DLC so far has been slow and only waifu shit. 2nd season pass with more characters is going to happen but that will take a great while since Season 1 still have a character left that should be release in 3 months or so.

Game has some good single player content. Online is really missing a crossplay. CaC is fun but they removed a lot of content so they could release it as dlc

Fighting games due to their nature will never be a genre that brings in the same amount, say, as something as COD or a FIFA. Honestly DOA6 has done basically everything right in that area. You can play free to see if you like it, you can buy the characters you like, the netcode is good and even exposes wifi shitters do you can avoid them. In my opinion the gameplay is good as well. Shame there's a legion of triggered incels who don't actually care about DoA beyond fapbait with a vendetta against it (Even though it has skimpy costumes/jiggle physics anyway), though admittedly I don't think DoA could ever really go beyond niche just due to how it plays.

DoA6 had--and still has--LESS content and mechanics than 5 on launch, and I'm not talking about costumes. Speaking of costumes, grinding for costume parts was annoying as you got shit all AND THEY WERE RANDOM until they added player matches, where I unlocked everything for everybody within a few hours of matches with friends. Player matches were not added until recently; they were absent at launch.
It's not been a good launch, but at least the netcode seems to be slightly better than 5.
