mexicans are this much obsessed with dragon ball because back in the day when they were airing it, we didn't get a lot of dubs of any other popular anime in latin america and DBZ was pretty damn big at the time, so basically even shitty national TV networks could transmit mexican tvnovels all day but still get DBZ in the schedule, DBZ is also dubbed in mexico and many of the voice actors are pretty fucking big in the dub scene, Mario Castañeda the guy who does Goku's voice, did his voice for all the season/episodes and works on pretty much any other big profile movie, he gets invited all the time to live shows and shit like that in mexico either to talk about DBZ, his carrier or to even do gay roleplay with Vegeta's VA, its all ironic tho, mexicans hate faggots so they can easily make fun of then on TV without the fear of being hunt by some gestapo, this can also be true for most of latin america thanks to the excellent quality of the dub, which by far is one of the best one in existence
TL;DR: mexicans see DBZ basically as national pride, they embrace it as their creation
