This is one of the times I genuinely don't get why people hate this game. I played all of them back to back and 1, 2, and 4 are all solid and fun. 3 was a mistake.

I don't have nostalgia for any of the games. I played them for the first time like a year ago. 3 I can only imagine holds up at all if you have nostalgia for it.

Weird redesigns for characters, Time Travel plot that only has easter eggs to Clockwerk but no actual interaction with Conner Cooper, a massive step down in bosses and villains compared to the Fiendish 5, Klaww gang or even most of 3's villains, made Bentley suffer for no reason, levels were actually too big making bottle hunting an actual chore this time around, the gimmicks with the ancestors were not used to their full potential, 6 axis bullshit etc.

It's a mess.

Only the art style and the fact that Sly's MOVEMENT was nerfed to keep the level design tighter.

Honestly other than Sly 2 it's the best game. In some ways it's better than Sly 2 with generally less frustrating stupid minigames and more side content. It's worlds better than Sly 3 with its fucking empty soulless hubs and awful minigames/bosses constantly.
