>finish vtmb for the first time >jaw dropping story and characters >get around the map by using signs and know them by heart by the end of the game >the map is filled with stuff to explore, every building has a story and a purpose >almost every quest feels engaging even if you simply need to collect x and bring it to y
>play a modern rpg >big world brother 5x the map of skyrim xD >start a literal fetch quest >there is nothing to see except for a few ambushes >you cant possibly know where to go without checking the map every 10 secs >end up fast traveling >spend most of the quest in a menu
what the actual fuck happened? why do people like open world? my guess, they feel like the game is longer and they got "their moneys worth"
I unironically love open world games. Though I think it ruined Witch3r.

>every building has a story and a purpose >almost every quest feels engaging even if you simply need to collect x and bring it to y Now you're just telling lies
Logan Jenkins
>vtmb >jaw dropping story Dude don't open le box xD
Cooper Foster
>>jaw dropping story and characters pffthahahahahahahahaahaha
Levi Russell
VTMB fucking sucks dick, get your head out of your ass.
Cooper Nguyen
im telling you how i felt when i played the game i think there were a couple of buildings that you couldnt enter, but im not sure theres a way to mask fetch quests into something interesting with writing i liked witcher and it would've been better as a hub game
TW3 isn't an exploration game, it's a story driven action RPG just like the previous 2, the open world is mostly there for the atmosphere, to make it feel like a big adventure, not to get lost in like you would in a TES game.
Gabriel Evans
Yea the quest where Fat Larry asks you to get him a suitcase where you're brought to a parking garage with 6 identical floors of the same goons over and over sure was engaging.
Austin Morgan
yeah open world hurts tw3's narrative i think, since the main quest is supposed to be urgent
Jason Foster
that one was pretty shit yeah, when i say all im obviously being hyperbolic is this your first day on Yea Forums?
Ayden Kelly
I really dislike exaggerated bullet point OPs
Cameron White
so do i but if you dont do that there is going to be 0 engagement on your post im probably unironically going to make a reddit account, i dont think you can talk about anything here
James Rivera
Go back.
Liam Thomas
>im probably going to crate a reddit account >go back pretty sure i cant go back if i never went some where in the first place, retard
Henry Nguyen
>comparing visualization of pen and paper rpg designed specifically to tell a story with fun little eurojank rpg >being surprised the latter has weaker storyline hurr durr
also, most of the bigger kcd quests were rather fancy and full of character story stuff
Ethan Russell
The interesting stuff is far and infrequent on Yea Forums, other boards are better but if you're going to reddit you might as well just go to /vg/ if you want to discuss specific games. I dislike the hivemind mentality reddit's format lends but I guess if you're okay with that then it might be worth. Their banter also sucks.
Samuel Hernandez
i didnt even mention kingdoms storyline, which i think is alright and interesting their world is empty as all fuck, it should've been smaller or hub based yeah i hate the rating system and the fact that you cant just call someone a retard for the sake of banter, but i hope its at least better than this, Yea Forums fucking sucks even though theres a golden thread every 2 weeks or so
Cameron Davis
Return to which thou came.
Luke Turner
im glad you want me to stay here my dude, but i dont think i can really stomach the level of retardation i see on a daily bases, so i probably wont be able to
Blake Hughes
Excellent blog.
Thomas Nelson
>i didnt even mention kingdoms storyline, which i think is alright and interesting i guess you didn't, i saw "literal fetch quest" line and kinda went further on my own. derp
>world is empty as fuck it's autism tier accurate, and scale/occasional boredom is a byproduct of it. you have little settlements, bandit camps, ridiculously detailed and clearly handmade parts of enviroment in some random forest in the middle of nowhere. although i agree it could work much better when scaled down, games of this kind should be designed to let player navigate without gps, like Gothic did

>vtmb >jaw dropping story and characters stopped reading there
