I rarely cry at deaths in vidya because either the execution is awkward or there's not much personal attachment to the character or there's no good buildup to even care about the character so it just becomes another death amongst many others like it.
I really especially hate when people just suddenly introduce death like it's gonna automatically draw the tears. I'll see right through it. I'm motherfucking Jim Cornette when it comes to seeing it.
Like, take a character, for example, nothing going on, and then bam, a sniper takes that character out, and we don't even really know about the sniper, we get a slow dying scene from the character, and the "oh noooo" from another character holding that dying character until the last breath.
It's not sad, it's just completely random and obviously worked with little to no thought. Come on, Russo, your writing sucks balls. Wait, no, that's giving too much credit. Even sucking balls sounds more zesty than that idea. There is no low bar that isn't gone past on its dive downward to even past hell itself that would effectively describe such a shitty idea. Even Aeristh dying was just ehh. Because she's a "flower" girl you met and joined with and she's a symbol for whatever, but it was just an attempt to be symbolic or tell me it's sad when such a life dies, but how many people immediately feel sad when a random person dies in the middle of a combat zone? It's like that idea where one person dies vs many die, but to me, those aren't separate because there's no personal connection for me.

My honest opinion on this game is it was just zombie movie plot #2150 with shit stealth segments. It was just all the standard zombie cliches tossed together into a game. It was a well executed experience but i was not really invested in any of the characters and had zero emotional attachment. Frankly wandering around and looking at the ruined overgrown city was more interesting than the plot.
