Really wanted it, read the hell out of aars in one of the game magazines. Unfortunately, didn't find the game in any of my local stores (somehow, EQ didn't seem to be widely present in Moscow in 2000) and ended up getting UO Renaissance.
how are the ads in this? what about everquest 2?
its only comfy when youre a ranger with fungi tunic, cloak of flames and double lamentations
wurmslayer/lammy is also acceptable
Man stop making me feel bad with those kind of threads. I have a Human 27 Warrior parked in High Keep and I haven't touched him since months.
bet youre still wearing banded and fine steel weps, noob
I am wearing Crustacean gear bich
(I definitely didn't get this gifted)
crusty armor and no fbss? and youre sub 37 meaning no yak procs, you couldnt even hold aggro off the weakest rogue, lmao
never played EQ because I was an early pserver UO fag back in the day
how fucked will I be if I start playing this right now
then where do i go smartass, I am sick of Mistmoore
>friend tells me to buy this game
>doesn’t tell me fucking anything about it
>roll an iksar shaman who worships cazic thule
>spend most of my time dying
>ask him how he gets past the guards
>ask him how he kills anything
>Meanwhile he and his dad are playing a Druid and a mage just no skilling through the whole fucking game
I later rolled a cleric but dropped the game when WoW came out.
mistmoore is prob the best until 40 desu. you can try lower guk but i hate guk.
you need to be able to hold threat though lmao!
not at all. its a comfy game, but you need a kind veteran to help and twink you out a bit
What a faggot.
what do EQBoomers think about the new Pantheon gameplay?
youtube.com
buy some jade maces x2, noob. you can prob hold threat with those procless. and beat some ass too lmao
tfw a warrior """tank""" doesnt even have these 2x.
invite canceled lmao
is there any gameplay of leveling?
if its not group grinding in a camp with a puller pulling shit while people recover mana its just another wow clone
So it’s a QOL EQ clone?
he falseflagged me ->
>Tfw born in 92 and was too young for everquest
>Got my first computer in 2001
>Tfw i am a zoomer and my first online game was wc3
>Tfw Runescape was my first MMORPG
>Tfw i didnt know about everquest till about 2006
So did i really miss out on a master work or are boomers just full of shit?
I have a velium rapier and velium dagger or something like that
ye, those are barely better than fine steel, ie trash.
jade maces are solid but you need some platinum to buy them.
if you can play runescape, you can definitely play classic to Velious EQ.
I always thought about trying out p99 can someone redpill me on what made Everquest so great? I always wanted to get into MMO's like it when I was younger but we had shit internet out where I lived. I tried getting into Guild Wars 2 and stuff when it came out but that themepark feel to everything made me bored. It felt like playing a single player game while a bunch of other people were also playing a single player game around me. There was no "multiplayer" in the MMO, just massive and online.
best proc weapons for threat holding (for warriors)
any weapon with a DoT, debuff, poison, slow, or ykesha proc.
but procs are random and youll lose a lot of threat overall just grouping, so you should just buy some jade maces x18 and hold dps with taunt and melee dmg.
I could play it.
i tried runescape again about a year ago and let me tell you...
Man that game is a shitty rpg
the community. EQ is a hardcore PVM mmo, all the nu mmos are solo questing ez mode.
the best comparable MMO to EQ is final fantasy 11 (not 14).
I don't know man, whenever I come back to P99 I don't even know if I will be playing my warrior. I have a Halfling 14 Druid parked in Kurn's and he's been very fun and I don't have to worry about gear. I barely got into raiding in WOTLK (only done shit like Onyxia and some Naxx bosses + Flame Leviathan), I should've read a guide before picking up a class that's geared towards raiding - something that I will probably never ever do unless I get extremely addicted to the game again.
eq was better than any modern mmo but it wasnt that special for the time, its remembered fondly the same reason UO and WoW are, all three of these games focused heavily (for their times) on advertising and were many peoples first mmos.
any /mangler/ niggas?
Also I don't know if it's because the danger that's involved of losing xp/doing corpse runs but why are EQ dungeons so much better than other MMOs? Estate of Unrest and Castle Mistmoore are max comfy and even the path to them is a pleb filter(at least for zoomers).
I don't really want to invoke the soul meme but it really doesn't look as charming as EQ, visually. That being said, if it's basically just EQ but for people who want to do anything with their lives before they die of old age then I'm kind of interested.
your warrior has bad weapons, no wonder you dont want to play him.
crusty armor is solid though, just make sure your agility is at minimum 75 while wearing it. or else you get a huge penalty to your avoidance.
you just need a jade mace or two on your warrior.
Just wait for Pantheon
I do love PvM I never got the appeal to PvP. If I want that I'll play an arena FPS(if only they weren't dead)
Is it just autistic level grind or is there fun in exploring shit or interesting dungeons or some sort of player economy? I don't mind autism level grinding so long as the game still feels like a fantasy world I get to explore and not just a numbers go up simulator dopamine skinnerbox.
this weapon is dirt cheap, but proc doesnt work until 46.
autism level grinding
dangerous dungeons with loot.
some classes can solo or duo said dungeons (like necromancer).
and ya player based economy.
it has it all
>don't mind
you see, you have never played an mmo with proper leveling and so your all confused and mixed up.
Leveling is the reason you play such a game, long nights in a group grinding exp is the fun of them. The last proper mmo like this was ff11. The leveling of every later game has been absolutely shit, and the problem is since most people now have never experienced correct group grinding mechanics in an mmo devs (if they themselves even know what they are) are afraid to pitch a game like that because everyones used to shitty post-WoW grinding.
i guess you can use these, theyre cheap lmao
It's the first game I'm looking forward to in many years.
I am trying to log in so I can tell you how much plat I have but I get some error ffs
you prob need to patch. visit the p99 website
>literally waiting forever
how is everquest 2?
>Leveling is the reason you play such a game
Yes thank you, that was another thing that really bothered/bothers me about new MMO's and well a lot of games. This obsession with an "Endgame" fuck I bought the game, isn't the game supposed to be the game? I want to have fun from the get go and not just wash away hours of bore till the real fun starts. I also feel this obsession causes people to focus on end game meta as the only thing that matters which is so dumb. I'm totally fine playing a game, experiencing it content over however long and then shelving it. I don't need some horrible treadmill that wastes hours of my life for the sole reason of seeing a number go up and giving me some weird sense of achievement. I have real life achievements I play games to immerse myself in a world I can't experience in real life.
This all sounds pretty cool, I might see if I can convince a friend to try it out with me. How alive is the community still?
it looks alwight actuawy
more dirt cheap warrior weapons
wiki.project1999.com
poison proc = huge aggro
wiki.project1999.com
solid 1/2 ratio piercer, dirt cheap. just make sure your agil and dex doesnt drop below 75.
very much alive
Seems like I need to update the spell files but the link from the "Starting out" thread is broken, gz
I remember playing this for a bit when I was visiting a friend for the summer out at his farm.
Rolled a Wood Elf Warrior and he was a High Elf Enchanter.
Was fun falling off the tree city every few hours.
youtube.com
yea you gotta look around. it will probably be in a post on the main page.
such comfy music
bruh the link is at the top of this
project1999.com
Nvm boys I clicked on the wrong "starting out" link. Btw my plat is like 223, ouch. Seems like I might need to hit the Nybright sisters or the Bandits for Bronze weapons. Btw I am lvl 28 not 27 lul.
223, you can buy easy. or just save it for classier weapons. but ya
Man fuck all the naysayers about how only boomers can like this game. I played this in 2015 for the first time and I get a warm tingly feeling when I hear music from this game. Dare I say I even feel nostalgia.
Only 4~5 years. It's normal for an MMO to take between 5 and 7 years.
warrior bro - you could possibly camp this yourself.
but those burynai will zerg you and possibly take you down with sheer numbers
They should've made some single-time quests more rewarding btw. I liked the one with the barbarian fisherman and the secret entrance to the ebil base in Freeport.
noice
another dirt cheap wep
Any advice besides "don't" for someone new to the game on making a wizard?
and lastly, the jade mace. 700-800 plat for one, but well worth it
I am not worried about the mobs in Kurns themselves but by the journey of going there as a plain Warrior without invis. Going there with my Halfling Druid was fun when I can just make myself invisible and give myself a SoW.
The flickering highlighted name text annoys the fuck out of me to the point where it stops me from playing P99
wizard is pain. i would recommend necro for starters
>recommending a class that's KOS to 80% of the town npcs in the game for a new player
Bold move.
well, the necro is the best soloer though. roll ikky necro, ikky is KoS is everything except ikky anyways.
and you get the sweet ikky health regen for your wraith form
wait I was thinking of dark elfs becuase they're connected in my brain, don't mind me I'm just retarded
ya. you can bind in the ruins to Dalnir though
no youre right, necros arent always KoS but they have less than perfect rep.
but for soloing and exploring you cant beat a necro. maybe shaman is better but you need gear.
or Kaesora, whatever the ruins are in field of bone, you can bind there. just watch out for that roaming skelly
Anyone thinking of joining p99,they are releasing a new server soon
i would prob play on mangler before p99.
and i have a level 60 ikky warlord on p99
son, booming IS better. Glad you're playing.
I kinda feel like a fucking hipster sometimes but I am unironically enchanted by the music and most of the areas and the dungeons. I grew up with WoW and even though I still like it, Everquest is just so different in a good way. In WoW, even though I levelled to max level a lot of times, I feel like I haven't really played the game since I've barely raided. While in P99 I am already content with the journey I've had with my 28 Warrior and 14 Druid. I really like the sheer variety in choosing your own hunting grounds too. In WoW it's like "oh you're 10-20 level and you're Horde? Pick Silverpine or the Barrens and stay there".
Classic everquest zones were designed as if they were real locations with mobs and set pieces placed logically. They were not designed like modern wow dungeons where it's obvious the developer kept the player and how they would want everything to be as convienant as possible for the player in mind.
thats beautiful. I wish this was a part of my childhood.
youtube.com
ahead of its time
I simply like that the world feels more dangerous. You can be farming something close to your level, then bam, out of nowhere a red shows up doing it's thing. You have to stay on your toes and be aware of the zone danger.
>zone danger
>that one asshole bard multikiting through your camp
>that one asshole multikiting through your camp
>me
>wanted to get a friend or two to try EQ or DAoC with me
>they've all either quit MMOs or just play FFXIV/retail WoW
bumping thread for interest
>92
>zoomer
If your first real online gaming experience wasn't being an annoyimg queaker on cod4 or halo 3 then you aren't a zoomer
t. dirty 99fag
