Aipom is the best example of this, adorable in the games but the toothy smile looks terrifying in this realistic art style so they've made the Aipom in the trailer really vicious.

It was originally an ecosystem style game (more like the original Bioshock or SS2) where you can use a variety of methods to get through an area. They changed it to a corridor set-piece shooter with dual weapons and bullet sponge enemies.
