The gaming industry is massively larger today than the early to mid 2000s. This is the earliest chart I could find but the industry is close to $130 billion dollars now, 75% larger than even in 2016.

It's % market share hasn't increased but as the total market increases it does too. If it maintains the same % market share than that means it grows by the same % of total growth.
So if it maintains a 30% market share that means a 50% total gaming market growth would be a 50% growth for console gaming as well. It only gets tricky when that market share shrinks since you have to do more math to see how much money that particular sector has grown.
