Raiden makes Liu Kang god as a way to make up for Liu Kang getting fucked in every possible timeline. Liu Kang and Kitana reset the entire universe so the only people that exist are them and human Raiden so the story can go anywhere and none of the deaths mattered.

The real question is, are all the costumes Raiden and Liu Kang wear in different timelines avaliable to wear in this game?

When you are on character select you can push square to let the AI play instead. You can customize your AI in the character customization section. It doesnt work for tag battles and you have to do brutal difficulty yourself but other than that you can just watch a movie or something while the AI grinds for you. Just set combos and reversals to 30 for up close guys and set zoning and runaway to 30 for ranged characters.

The problem is what said that Boon and his team still wanted to stick to old characters, their stories and weird timeline shenanigans despite 9's "reboot". It wasn't a clean reboot per se, just another timeline added on atop of the old because of this.

This time the timeline is completely erased, it's a clean plate except for Liu Kang who is an omnipotent being now and 2 characters that are confirmed alive besides him, Kitana and Raiden.

It's a lot more interesting what they can do now instead of just making a character evil, good or a zombie revenant which was a lame concept anyways.

Kronika isn't an Earthrealm elder god which by the look of things is more of a title than a measure of actual power. Shinnok was an elder god and elder gods have rules for themselves not to interfere with the realms.

As someone who hasn't played MK since 3 or so, the story mode was sick. The 30fps was mildly nauseating but I get it. I think everyone is just jaded and can't manage to enjoy a thunder and fire god blowing up entire armies of demons like a fucking meteor.

I don't think the next patch will really fix the krypt or towers

By their nature both are random and grindy. The tower modifiers aren't fun to deal with, they don't change up the gameplay but are just free damage for the enemy. You'll still be fighting boring or button reading AIs that can just freeze your character mid combo. Random chests just suck, that will only be fixed by a complete rework of the krypt. And still 90% of rewards would be consumables and icons. You still won't get everything without playing for a year as so much is linked to beating towers. Do you really want to fight AI for a year?

Because the moment has to feel earned and actually lead to something interesting. No one would like Baraka randomly killing Scorpion either. D'vorah killing Hanzo was random, there wasn't a build up to it, most have no reaction to the news, nothing significant happens because of it, she then just left the story and young Scorpion just turned good. If none of that happened and it was Hanzo on the boat at the end little of the story would be different.

So all we gain from it is one less Scorpion, and a one good Scorpion minus all his development from the past few games. Didn't do anything for D'vorah's character outside giving her another free kill of an OG character, which really feeds into the idea she is the writers pet. At best this was shock value that got completely erased by the ending where everyone is gone.

Remember the combos are different from other 2D fighters. You don't cancel, you queue. You can't double tap or mash or you'll fuck up your queue for combos. A 21212 DF1 has to be exactly that, but you don't have to time it like links or even chains just dial it out as soon as possible. The difficult timing comes from juggles, but there are so many ways to juggle there is always an easier way for slightly less damage.

I don't see many sticking with the game at all desu. It is super dull, even the NRS heads shilling don't have much to say. Just it is really neutral based guys as they do a safe string that moves them in. The zoning is way better, as they try to outrace the others chip damage cause projectiles not clashing is the dumbest thing ever. It is full of difficult decisions as they do Erron's safe dropkick for the 10th time this round. Game removed a lot of layers of decision making, even your wake up game which is tied to a meter system you barely have to think about. All while having bad presentation, realistic graphics don't magically make a fight exciting.

Jade beating the shit out of Kotal and then Shao Kahn opportunely showing up and capturing him was one of the most hilariously retarded things I've ever seen. Not that it would matter anyways because the Shao Khan sub-plot had literally no relevance to the story other than "He's buying time by being a disruption". Which was literally every bad guys purpose that wasn't Kronica, making them all pointless to the story.

The guy they got for Lord Raiden is great. Perfect voice for him in the last few MK and Injustice games.

I know nobody really plays these games for the story, but the plot felt really weak in this one. It's like they don't know how to move forward. Then again a lot of fighting games have this problem of shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to story and characters.

Megaman wouldn't be half the game it is without that fucking awesome soundtrack, The Darkness bleeds atmosphere from every pore, even MK wouldn't be MK without the pointless but entertaining fatalities. Devaluing other aspects of a game simply results in a poorer experience and somewhere along the way NRS started doing this resulting in MK11 where gameplay is improved, but literally everything else is downgraded.

If you don't care about kosmetics it's fine imo. The time to kill is long enough to not feel cheap but not so long (fucking injustice) that you feel like you aren't doing anything. You will get bored of the animations for fatal blows very fast though. The first time you see them they're hype as shit, but they're too long and too frequent.

I was pleasantly surprised by 11. I hated X's story and focus on shitty Boruto characters, and while half of them still had a presence in 11 they weren't the main focus and didn't defeat the bad guys due to asspulls in lieu of being interesting characters.

I dunno if this is a controversial opinion or not, but the weird focus on the earthling military in recent MK fucking sucks and I always thought it was supposed to be some kind of joke that they even exist in previous games. Making Johnny Cage a serious character almost ruins him even if the jokes are still good. I don't like any of these kids. I was worried X was going in a direction where I wouldn't care anymore and 11 basically revived my interest.

I only played Deception's Konquest mode but I was confused by the cliff hanger. Onaga telling him he could have helped the elder gods instead of him if only he found some 5th artifact reeks of bad ending to me so I kept playing searching for it only to find out that was the only ending.

MK11 is great, i'm european and can play with americans with basically no delay and no lag.

Where things are before the timeline reset is meant to set precedence for future games, so that the audience is less confused by where things are at. Basically just expect everyone who has an older counterpart to still be old except maybe Sonya, everyone who's young to still be young, and Scorpion to be a wraith but also an anti-hero. Maybe Kano is magically alive as well. Or maybe literally everyone is young again but all the characters who aged have their older selves' memories.

Just think of it as an excuse to keep everyone around but not alter the established characters for the next game. Which is the real reason why they reset again. They fucked their own shit with time travel and a time skip.

Give out hearts for winning matches primarily instead of being forced to watch the same fatality over and over
Double all currency drops or reduced costs

Make a UI on the character select screen so people can choose their special moves like MvC2/3 assists without using presets
Allow kustoms for ranked and tournament mode
Kustoms are more enjoyable and allow for creativity and planning a lot more. It can help characters with bad matchups more. If it's broken it's broken, but the FGC comp scene isn't fucking MOBA, they don't give a fuck about balance early on and generally embrace jank (MvC and DBFZ). No more hotfixes unless it's a legit gamebreaking bug and SUBTLY balance maybe 3-6 months.

Well as of right now Liu Kang can't win the Tournaments and he can't forcefully stop Shao Khan (well he can but he wont). Which means Raiden or Scorpion will likely win the first Tournament, Raiden has to win it or Shao Khan will merge realms. MK2 could be a variety of people.

This, Cage actually growing up and yet still having those moments makes him a great character, the only other ones that can compete are Scorpion and Subs for obvious reasons.

Kotal is a nice antithesis to Shao Khan, D'Vorah had potential, Skarlet had potential, Cassie is alright at times, Takeda is nice, Kung Jin is ok, Jacqui is shit, etc.
