My favorite is 6, 9 goes in the trash.
5 is pretty good, 4 is decidedly mediocre, 8 is mediocre but streamlined.

Haven't played the newest yet or the original 3, and 7 is on my backlog.

My favorite Dragon Quest is Monsters 2 which is actually a way better mon game on GBC than Pokemon in my book.

I really like the cast, I actually had a hard time choosing who I wanted in my full party just out of liking them, which has never happened to me in any other dq I've played, and the two worlds thing, while I feel like it could have and should have been used more, was still used pretty cleverly here and there. The world in generally had a very cozy feeling to it, I remember I'd go back to towns for no reason just to poke around sometimes.
I got hit with genuine feels regarding the MC's "sister" that I've never felt anything like in a game before.

I liked how gating the world map was handled, the two worlds thing meant that you got to go check out all that new shit more than usual.

I do wish it had more monster raising, with the class system it would have been absolutely delicious, but I was still rather pleased that we got some at all.
The class system in general offers a lot of flexibility and fun when it comes to making your characters really feel like you're developing them.

I've only played 11 and I thought it was mediocre as fuck. Like there's nothing specifically wrong with it, it just wasn't good, felt painfully generic and safe

My favorite is 3. After that it's 8 and all the other games in no particular order. That said I never get around to playing 11.
