Sure it is. Returns and TF were decent hits. It was never a spinoff-crazy series except for that dark age with the Climber games, and it's likely to get a new game on the Switch.

Star fox was literally never good. The best game in the series was 64, and even that game is pretty ass nowadays when there's much better games like ace combat to play. The gamecube and DS games were shit. 1 and 2 have aged like milk. The 3DS port was just "okay". The wii u game was dogshit. Fox at this point is basically just a melee meme.

Kid Icarus Uprising was the best Star Fox game in years.

Final Fantasy is definitely not doing as well as its peers on this list. Metal Gear is dead. Samus has a pretty good game not too long ago, with another on the way. F-Zero and Punch-Out didn't die any worse than Mother or Kid Icarus. All four series has good games released and then just stopped.

Donkey Kong isn't in a bad place, but I dunno if I'd say it's a healthy series. Its future is 100% up in the air, it was basically dead for a long time until Retro gave it some love. We don't know if they intend to continue working on the series, when a new game will come out, or if it'll be even half as good as the last two if someone else gets their hands on it.

11 is one of the best games in the classic series, with more new ideas than 9 and 10, and sold well given the series' history.

That game is considered to be the peak of the series + it still had an anime and one more GBA game afterwards. That's not a painful death, a painful death is when it dies in some horrible manner like a terrible reboot or a complete blunder like MGSV. No one would say Contra died painfully even though its last few games didn't sell so well, because those last games were fucking amazing and left the fans pleased.

It's doing about as well as all the other mid-tier popularity JRPGs like Persona and Xenoblade, especially with the gacha shit, so your asspain about the Smash roster is irrelevant. That's just sales though, the upcoming game looks horrendous and might just kill the momentum they've built up.

Star Fox died painfully. Punch Out died fairly peacefully. A Punch Out!! wii sequel is definitely on the top of my wishlist, but I'm okay with the series ending on such a 10/10 installment. Kid Icarus Uprising 2 is also a big possibility.

I don't understand why you would put xenoblade or final fantsay as struggling. As much as you didn't like Xenoblade 2 or Final Fantasy XV they both did great commercially and Xenoblade 2 brought a relatively unknown JRPG game into the normie light. Also Square Enix is milking the MMOs to death so there's no reason to say either series is struggling even if you didn't like the recent games.

I know using an IP to death is bad, but there's a midle ground between that and waiting 10 fucking years to make a proper following to a beloved game.

Why does Uprising need a sequel? It's a very complete game. It's normal for somebody to want to make a new game instead of something derivative.

While MG Survive was definitely a spit in the face to something, did anyone even care enough to be bothered by it?
I sure didn't, but I'm not everyone. I try to look at MGS5 as what it was, and while not great, was fun, and it had enough content/story within it for someone to be able to write the series off for themselves as just simply finished.
Snake living through games like the way Captain Falcon does seems like an okay way to to continue to celebrate the series.
Though Fzero at least needs another shot at a game before truly going out like Snake has
