Planet Zoo

>Get fucked in the ass by Sony from making a proper JP:OG game.
>Use it as a tech demo for your own Zoo Tycoon.

Also they are teaming up with the original devs of Zoo Tycoon. Who HYPED here?

I've seen ads for this game on instagram, and it looks appealing.

What do you mean get fucked in the ass by Sony?

but, can I force animals to fuck?

isnt frontier the guys behind JPE? if this game is gonna be like that then I wouldnt get my hopes up

Sony forced Frontier to release JW: E by the release day of the new JW movie despite them telling Sony how shitty the game would end up.

When you shill you're not supposed to make it so incredibly obvious, Mr Akon.

the game is a freemium game without microtransactions, you still have to wait time to perform a lot of actions, its visually pretty but the gameplay is the equivalent of a screensaver

>Sony forced Frontier to release JW: E by the release day of the new JW movie despite them telling Sony how shitty the game would end up.
How did Sony manage to do that? I don't remember them having any involvement with that game. If anyone I figured it would have been Universal.

I have no proof of this, but I think the OP is lying.

That sounds unfortunate and an incredible waste of resources. Are the animals at least a cute?

yes, there are 56 or so dinosaurs, and all of them look astounding, but the building tool feels awkward as heck, requiring to build a dino lab everytime you want to make an enclosure, and those can be quite big, add to this the weird shapes of the maps and the gigantic size of the maintenance buildings you are required to operate the park and you will end with a jurassic world with 3 or 4 enclosures at most.

its a pretty comfy game and you can dick around with it 3 or 4 hours, but damn is the replayability terrible

isn't this is technically 2nd time frontier make a zoo tycoon game?

It will live and die with the amount of animal diversity and breeding mechanics. This are the most important features of zoo tycoon games.

Did anyone like planet coaster? Seemed detailed but soulless to me.

From what I heard it was excellent when it comes to the building part but the actual simulation and management part are poorly made. Sounds like cities skyline.

I got bored of it within a few hours. Parkitect was way more enjoyable to me.

I did like JW:E, the campaign felt rewarding and I actually liked that the maps were small. It fit the jurassic park theme with the small islands. It got boring pretty fast tho. Let's hope the best for Planet Zoo. They should copy parkitects decoration mechanic. Having decoration actually serve a purpose made it a lot more fun to make good looking parks.

this games could learn a thing or two about prison architect, easy to get into but damn hard to master, just how a game should be

What the fuck would be hard to master about a zoo tycoon game? This entire games lives off the behavior off the animal. Ideally it would be similarly to a sims game only that all the animals act on their own but interact with the environment realistically. The second thing is content, a zoo tycoon without tons of animals is just trash.

>Planet Denuvo
Nope

how do I get an amazing park in planet coaster like the ones I see usually posted?
do I need to be autistic?

>I want to play screensaver
lol, ok kid, go play prison architec and see how a simplistic concept can have an actual in-depth, instead of shilling out on games designed for brainlets, zoo tycoon was easy as fuck, it was just eye candy and people praise it because "muh 90's animal planet" in reality the game was nothing but a glorified tamagochi, jurassic park tried to do the same and failed misserably, mainly because it didnt offer any kind of palpable difficulty, there's zero feeling of accomplishment from playing it, just as zoo tycoon

ask the autists at /mcg/ how the can build literally anything but dirt boxes

You didn't answer the question in how to make a zoo tycoon challenging. It's just not the type of game for that. You play it entirely for building and designing and the sense of progression of earning money and expanding your zoo with it.

It would be extremely hard to add true challenge and still allow the player to build a creative and beautiful zoo without penalizing him for not min maxing autism.

I fucking hate Zoos in real life

No, but animals can fuck the guests

Planet coaster is good shit.
>soulless
You haven’t experienced the gentle touch of Chief Beef

Apparently they're going in hard on the breeding mechanics. You have to rotate animals in and out to prevent inbreeding

Spam foliage and lighting.

If this ends up being like Zoo Tycoon then I will be satisfied

Why would you prevent inbreeding?

You kinda do, the controls for placing shit in that game are fucking terrible and it takes fucking ages to make even like one building that looks decent.

I really hope they make it more intuitive in planet zoo or it's fucked.

>Built off Planet Coaster
>Steam workshop support
Imagine putting this in your zoo

>Also they are teaming up with the original devs of Zoo Tycoon.
Really? Because if that's true I'm legitimately excited.

>How did Sony force the company that was making a game for them do that?
>Sony has zero involvement in a game they licensed out!

>Planet Coaster.
>Soul less.

Shit is as soul full as it gets.

honestly I almost don't want Planet Zoo to have this. I think part of what made Zoo Tycoon and many early management games so fun was the fact that you didn't need to make every building from scratch and add all these little details to them. You could still theme and dress up your parks but ultimately it would still look good even if you didn't and let you focus a bit more on the management side of things.

The thing that many modern tycoon and builder games have been focusing to much of is how much customization the players have ironically. What happens is the only way to make anything look good is to spend hundreds of hours being autistic in designing everything, which if you don't your game just looks like ass noodles. Then the actual sim part is boring, bad or shallow, leading to a game where the only way to actually win is from 1 or 2 set ups till you ball enough money up to make your park look semi realistic.

I didn't really like Planet coaster
loved Zoo tycoon as a kid
I really liked the campaigns in zoo tycoon
So I'm cautiously optimistic
Will be disappointed if I can't murder guests

The problem with JWE isn't that it's bad, it's that the roadmap for content got screwed because Universal stopped giving them money to make it. Frontier's B-team is working on JWE now, while they focus all their attention on their own proprietary brands, and we all know how slow B-teams are.

Guest killing was nerfed big time in zoo tycoon 2. I think only the t rex and killer penguins had a guaranteed kill chance so im used to it.

Judging by Planet Coaster, I expect it to be mediocre

People are doing the most insane shit ever with it.
I don't understand how any human with a functioning brain could describe it as "soulless"
