But in Japanese, while Morgana is still being oversensitive, you can understand how literally everything Ryuji says pisses Morgana off. His crude, callous way of speaking rubs against everything Morgana holds himself to and his vision of a Phantom Thief.

Persona games are not for you, you'll be annoyed at something like most of the plot. It's not all dating/life-sim stuff, that's the minority, but the rest is character development and plot development.

Unironically play SMT instead. It's the gameplay with barebones plot and doesn't do the whole character/VN stuff.

I love persona but I still think her design is shit. Ribbon color on that hair color doesn't work and her only change to the standard school uniform being her shoes is pretty boring and doesn't make her stand out as much as a main cast/party member should. Her phantom thief outfit is better but the heels ruin the ballerina shoe look and so do the long tails on the jacket.

I played and enjoyed 5. You'll enjoy the combat but some of the better aspects of it are locked behind real life relationships, you'll never get a baton pass or follow-up attack without first befriending them in the real world. It will be playable from start to finish but your experience will be much shallower and more difficult. The game is all about living the double life, so that shallow and difficult experience is also going to be only half of the game.

Lucky for you Persona 1, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment don't have that school sim aspect. Even try out something like SMTif since it just got translated recently and the first persona is pretty heavily influenced from it.
