Makoto and Futaba both have personality and design that will appeal more to the people here.

I know what you want to say about the narrative and how the game is actually about how society enables its oppression/exploration or something similar and not about adults being shitty, but truth is that for 90% of the game the narrative will be presented as a black and white dichotomy of oppressed kids (who aren't actually oppressed) fighting against shitty adults (by the game own words; repeated countless times) who abuse their powers exploiting other innocent kids. The game has absolute no nuance in its presentation and you can't deny the conflict is presented in a black white one-dimensional manner, as the protagonists are all moralfags (even though the game tried to present them as underdogs and counter-culture, but failed), the adults are all irredeemable pieces of shit (don't care if this was explained by brainwashing plot device) and the narrative only shifts to what you could say is the ''main theme'' around the time you reach Shido's Palace, before that, the theme is mostly on the underlines and the presentation is overwhelmingly about adults being shitty and kids suffering for their abuses.

So you have 80 hours of dumbed down KND with rage against the machine tones and the end of the game giving just a bit more complexity and nuance to the rage against the machine aspect while reducing the KND tones.
