Sound is far more valuable, especially when you consider that if you can't see something because of an obstruction of sight, chances are if it makes a loud enough noise, you will hear it.

usually they are a special character, or the blindfold represents something. If the blindfold is a willing piece of attire the character wears it usually means the character is a mystic and does not need standard vision to see, they see through auras etc. (think neo from the matrix), if the blindfold is forced upon them it has a more bondage based meaning, as the character is bound to whoever placed it upon them, be it an individual or a group (2B is an example as she blindly follows the organisation, while A2 discarded hers)
