Should stream sniping be bannable?
I think if someone's broadcasting their location in game to 3 million people it should be a given its gonna happen, thats the price you pay

What even qualifies as stream sniping? Say the streamer just gets fucked by a better player from the git go. Does that make it stream sniping? Cause everyone would immediately go "sTrEaM sNiPiNg"
This is the most cancerous post i've seen in Yea Forums today, congrats OP!
>What even qualifies as stream sniping?
The streamer dying, it doesn't matter how they got spotted and killed, every time they get killed it's stream sniping, 100% every time hands down no question. There's literally no possible way that a player could legitimately kill a streamer without stream sniping
I don't care what anybody says, streaming/youtuber culture has ruined all modern videogames. There was like a small era where it was actually beneficial but that has come and gone. Every faggot playing online games just wants to be like "x" youtuber or "y" streamer. They act like them. They spout the same bullshit memes and catchphrases non fucking stop. Literally every game I've ever played online has gone to shit because of youtubers/streamers.
Of course the developers played a key in the game becoming worse and worse over the years, but streamer culture and shit has just tarnished absolutely everything. Everyone just goes on Youtube and search up what's the most overpowered weapon, class, build, or setup and that's what everybody runs. The days of people using whatever they like or playing whichever style is most fun to them are long gone. It's just faggots using the most cheesiest and cheapest methods ever to win or get over. Online videogames are a fucking joke nowadays.
>Everyone just goes on Youtube and search up what's the most overpowered weapon, class, build, or setup and that's what everybody runs
communities could already figure this stuff out on their own over time just by being raped by it themselves or being told over forums and friends
though youtube does spread the information much faster
How do you even prove someone is stream sniping outside of the obvious stuff (always knowing where you are even through walls, always reacting to what you're saying you're about to do on stream perfectly, and appearing in the chat room with the same username as your in-game name but that could be framed)
>I like to make 5 digits while playing games
>I don‘t want the cons that comes with the money
I do agree with that but people who browsed forums were far and few between. You cannot fucking compare a few thousand people looking shit up on Gamefaqs, compared to fucking 12 year olds and everybody's fucking grandma searching up a video on Youtube. Literally EVERYBODY has and watches Youtube. It just doesn't compare. It ruins any and all online games.
the fuck you say to me you little shit?!
Yes it should be bannable. just the same as if you were playing go fish with your sister. If she turns her hand over and shows you her cards, if you look, she automatically wins the game. Don't cheat and you won't get banned.
No it really shouldn't be bannable.
When these faggots started whining about this shit and companies started listening to them is the moment this entire "hobby" jumped the shark.
Was bad enough they were making money by playing games so other people could watch them play a game, rather than PLAYING THE GAME THEMSELVES.
Now they're banning people who play a game, because they're watching another person play a game so people don't have to play a game. It's just beyond retarded.
e-celebs have power. even if you're not cheating in any way, if an e-celeb like this clown says you're cheating, then your fucking cheating. you will get banned from the game.
It tends to get pretty obvious when the same name pops up in most of your game
Is this the new zoomer rules for go fish? So I win if I show you my hand and you don't look away?
You look at queue logs
???
Literally who gives a fuck about streamers. kys for even making this thread.
No, if there's no way of 100% verifying that streamsniping was utilized instead of the player just being better at the game compared to the streamer
>Should stream sniping be bannable?
obviously not
it's your own fault for streaming
and you can use a delay and hide your client before getting into a match
usually when people cry about stream sniping, it was just a better player killing the streamer in a normal way
If you look you gain information that puts you at a significant advantage. So looking should be bannable. Same with Go Fish as stream sniping.
I used to just Google game builds when I was 12 and gamefaqs came up pretty often
Those extremely long walkthrough guides people typed out and tried to explain better with pictures formed by text and symbols had soul
Bannable? No.
But I feel it's like screen-peaking: If somebody sees you doing it IRL they can punch you in the mouth.
It's especially bad in MMORPGs and the like, 15 years ago the metagame was balanced around players being mostly mediocre but the fact that every kid has been told to look up the meta build online means that endgame content is mostly about pushing numbers and playing the way someone else intended you to
people bitch and moan at others for not following a meta build/comp because every faggot wants to be competitive
>play go fish with my zoomer nephew.
>"hey, I know you like watching twitch, what do you think about stream sniping?"
>"it's cheating!"
>show him my cards before he can look away.
>"why would you cheat like that?? I win by default!"
My biggest issue is how the streamer culture made a whole new generation of tryhards. I can't tell you how many people who are clearly trying their hardest in the game ended up having a channel. Less and less people are playing shit casually and instead are trying to be the next streamer. I don't remember a single time in the MW2 era where people were genuinely trying to be the best, just about every game was people having fun.
>what is intent
certainly this board is just pretending to be retarded right
In this scenario, your nephew cheated. He should lose the game and never be able to play Go Fish again.
Can you explain what point you're trying to make here?
Of course it’s cheating, you can’t “accidentally” turn on a stream in the same way a couple retards in this thread think you can accidentally view a hand of cards deliberately shown to you. If you don’t want to get banned, don’t do it.
The real argument is that last sentence isn’t always true.
yeah, the streamer is intentionally showing everybody his screen
what
Contrarianism is too appealing
Dude just don't stream your game, lmao
Zoom zoom goes the little zoomer zoomin' it up
Unless this sounds silly. Then in that case stream sniping should not be bannable, put a fucking delay in if you are that butthurt.
You cannot defend banning snipers and not also this scenario.
Do they dye their hair because they're going grey?
stream sniping only affects multiplayer games that are slow, like brs. People who stream battle royale games deserve to get sniped.
That's very childish user, are you sure you're old enough to be allowed onto this site?
>two countries at war
>one of the soldiers keeps posting his location on social media
>soldier from other country picks this up and shoots him from afar
It's just intel gathering.
Except in this case there are war gods who will lay down divine punishment if you do that, because it’s their planet and they think you’re cheating.
>Online videogames
found your problem. 12 years ago
No, You usually can't prove shit properly unless you install some spyware to players computer. Besides that streamer should have expected that and there is an option to delay the stream for God sake.
>kill someone in a game
>get banned because they were some faggot streamer who thought you were stream sniping
but how do they know, just use alts if it is about trolling streamers.
>Should stream sniping be bannable?
yes
Fuck no.
If you are retarded to stream your game and you get brain ventilation from it, its your fucking problem.
Don't be an idiot next time.
I'm more than certain that war gods will smite the social media posting retard.
Streaming sniping just means finding a streamer in game or in public if they're an IRL streamer. It doesn't necessarily mean they're there just going to troll them.
>I'm more than certain that war gods will smite the social media posting retard.
user, this was an extension of his metaphor for video games. Maybe you didn’t realize this, or maybe you just don’t play video games, but I was explaining what happens in real life.
Did you really take my post seriously user?
Yes it should be and all of you people are retarded
If any of you illiterate fucks bothered to read a paragraph deep into all of the TOS agreements you’re signing, pretty much all of them say “using any third party programs to influence the result of the game can get you banned.
There’s absolutely no way to enforce it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t bannable if they could
Sorry, guess I got the autism because I didn’t realize you were making bad arguments already addressed in this thread as a joke.
>broadcasting yourself playing the game can be construed as a third party program that is obviously influencing the game.
ban all streamers please
No worries user. My response wasn't meant to be serious anyway.
Except stream sniping part. Making it bannable offense is just protecting ego of a streamer because of his stupidity.
Unless there’s an in game video browser, you’re using a third party program to view the stream.
Remember when making videos of games was a hobby and not some lowlife retard's career?
>literally using 3rd party software to stream gameplay
>obviously influencing the game if snipers become a problem
>not banning the streamer
>my response wasn’t supposed to be serious except the part that made even less sense because it was just a repeat of the debunked arguments in this thread didn’t read.
Am I falling for the double-leveled bait?
You tell me Cher Amie
>guise I said LITERALLY!!! That means I'm right sweetie, gib upboats
literally no argument
Suck my dick you fag
fucking THIS i cant STAND that shit, this is why everyone jerks off about vanilla WoW; because nobody knew what the fuck was going on! Everyone just played what they liked, and what was working, got together with their friends, and tried to win. That's what made it fun, it was an adventure. These days every single MMO dungeon or raid, it's all just gear checks to make sure people can hit X numbers so you can finish Y daily tasks so you can get more Z to pass gear checks for harder content. This is what ruined WoW and then GW2 for me, you have to have kill proof to enter raid, but you need to raid to get kill proof, but no one will take you unless you use a meta build with meta skills with meta gear, all defined by the overlords of the raiding community, and even then nobody will take you because nobody is interested in adventuring they just want to clear the content as quickly as possible so they can work up the gear to clear more content as quickly as possible. It bums me out.
this
>broadcasting location to everyone in public domain
>player using information gathered from said public domain
it is just like when you open a pack of gum in a class. Suddenly you will be targeted inb4 food analogy
This and the push to add a ranked mode to fucking everything, even games that are supposed to be casual and have no business having a ranked mode.
Imagine how much better a game like Overwatch would be if they never added a ranked mode and focused more on the casual fun experience.
