Usually with big engines it's in the menu and easy as fuck. That hasn't stopped a number of big games' GNU/Linux releases from being absolute dogshit. If you've never touched a GNU/Linux distro before and have no idea what the fuck you're doing it, I would encourage you to think twice about half-assing it. Exporting to windows only and letting Proton do its thing is more often than not a better option. Hell, exporting to Windows and then optimizing your shit for Proton is a potentially easier full-ass option than exporting to native.

>Access Linux through the startup/boot menu by mashing ESC/F10 after a restart and selecting to boot from your new drive instead of booting from your original
>Practice with it until you figure out what you're doing

If you're confident in what you're doing and aren't afraid of a windows update fucking everything up, you could install Linux on your C: drive side by side with whatever OS you're using in a separate partition. Most beginner distros give you this option, and although they say nothing will go wrong, there's always the chance something will and if you're a total novice it's gonna frustrate the hell out of you. Linux plays nice with Windows most of the time, but Windows doesn't give a fuck about Linux and could just start erasing shit.
