An SBR can carry drums that far out strip the P90 mag in capacity. An SBR can also be made to exceed the P90 in rate of fire.
The muzzle report is also of little consequence when the trade off is increased and much more versatile firepower. 5.7 is a meme cartridge and always will be.

in carrying drums you greatly increase the weight and form factor of the weapon. a ROF comparable to that of a P90 in an AR style sbr would be less controllable. 5.56 is superior that's for sure but working in the conditions where you would be using a PDW style weapon, the extra power of the 5.56 is not utilized.

I think you greatly underestimate the bulkiness of P90 mags. One drum and two or three 30 rd mags will always be a better setup than 2 extremely long and awkward 50 rounders.

This is almost as stupid as that nuclear power nuke. That is, a nuke that can fly indefinitely. Supposedly it was going to be fired, would fly in circles over the ocean until final comfirmation could be given to it, and then fly to its target at like 50 meter altitude.
Imagine a cruise missile that flew at Mach speed right above your head, destroying everything in its path while radiation poisoning the surrounding area and then detonating anywhere in the world it wanted.

I think they are just a testbed, not an actual working system you would implement in real use. However, stationary systems might work in asymmetric warfare. In conventional war you would want those systems to be mobile. Immobile tank turret emplacements were used during the WW2, but these days those would be impractical.

It's alroight in 4, and it was actually truly decent for the first time in 5 before the TU. After the TU it's still "good" but now the magum is just the best gun in eveyr situation and there's no point in using the AR even if it's decent on paper
