Alexander is the best raid, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
The music, visuals, and tone are all fucking amazing. Coil is better in terms of story and theme, but that's about it.
Omega is passable at best. Alphascape is the only good part of it, and only then the fights where you actually fight omega are legit.

The only downside with waiting is that you'll have to go through the extremely long story of every previous expansion to get up to the cool new shit that everyone else is doing when the new one comes out. If you want to try it, go into it knowing that it's a story-focused Final Fantasy game above all else and it's 100+ hours of main story, not even counting important side stories like Crystal Tower and Alexander.

Sounds like your healers and tanks weren't up to the task. A tank LB can make you survive through meteors, and as long as a healer has their reraise proc, they can also use healer LB if needed.

I don't mind story and if it makes me feel even half the adventure something like ff12 did then i'd be pretty happy.

EX primals and the first two fights of the raid tier. The problem is that you and everyone else defines "mid-tier" as being juuuuust your ideal amount of challenge and nothing too hard or too easy. It's entirely subjective.

XIV's world is heavily inspired by Ivalice, and the Heavensward main scenario writer worked on every Ivalice game with Matsuno. As a warning, the first part of the story is very slow and they spend most of it world-building and setting up plot points so they can rip the rug out from under you and let shit hit the fan.

Healers are 100% most broken role, you can easily carry to diamond with healer if you're competent. ALWAYS go tanky with your traits.
MCH is better than BRD and can peel for days, SAM is good if you want burst/Tankiness it has the highest pvp burst among the melee. DRG is pretty shit, so is NIN unless you wanna be slippery. MNK is like an easier SAM and can save it's burst a lot easier.
WAR is best tank hands down, PLD is second only because DRK is useless.

So move up to Savage raids. The purpose of difficulty tiers is to train yourself to move up to the next one dude. This is why there's no such thing as mid-tier. Because you're supposed to grow yourself so that whatever you're currently at is your mid-tier.

The only one you can get by that point is the cat. Black cat is a Gold Saucer reward, the bat is from fully completing a mid-level FATE series, Bartz is from SB collectors edition or preorder, I forget which, and the Kojin is from Kojin beast tribe quests which are 63+.

WHM for stones/assize you can switch them out with an AST but WHM does more damage.

Yes, cat is bought with mgp (which you will have plenty of if you're dumpstering fools in the saucer), kitten and bat are both easily obtained from la noscea the moment you unlock airship travel, bartz is from the stormblood CE which most people will have. Only the kojin is gated behind high level stuff, but you can substitute any gc mammet for it (bought with mgp), it's the anti-crystal attribute you want and the speed is just a bonus.

it's probably the best choice for a high cost monster-type minion yeah, alongside wind-up odin (the anti-search eyes trait is more valuable than anti-gate which is the decisive factor).
Generally the use case for fielding expensive minions at all is for defensive purposes, if you need to protect something and need to quickly put a bunch of stats on the field to contest it.

It comes down to the way minion stats, minion costs, and time to build them interact with each other. Cost scales up faster than stats do (2x 10 cost minions have more stats than 1x 20 cost one), so a swarm of cheap low cost minions does more dps to other minions. There are also other factors that favour low cost minions, like damage to structures scaling with the number of bodies inside the capture zone (it doesn't use the atk stat at all, 3x 10 cost minions do 3x the structure dps of 1x 30 cost minion), and also needing 4x of a minion to use an LB, so more minions = more LBs.
Because of that, for offensive purposes you'd always favour swarms of cheap minions. The flipside is that time to build scales much more slowly than minion cost too. A 10 cost minion takes ~5 seconds to build, a 30 cost minion is roughly 200% stronger individually, but takes only ~7 seconds to build (only 40% longer). So you can see if you need to defend something very quickly with as much stats as possible, you're best served pumping out expensive minions for that purpose.
Generally speaking, cheap minions = better for attacking, expensive minions = better for defending

You need to hit diamond at LEAST to secure the sets. So 1400-1500 hundred points is what you're gonna want.

And absolutely none of that implies that Omega was basically the main reason Allag tech leapt forward by several centuries.

leveling crafters efficiently involves using the Levemetes to get quests to turn in specific crafted items.

at level 50 the Moogle Beast tribe is available which gives a lot of crafting exp for no material cost and are really easy. At 60, the Namazu become available.

Ixali are available pre 50

yes, but they cost crafting materials, give shit exp and require you to mine/harvest/fish

My go-to for randos who don't touch lucid/diversion is to just let them tank the boss until they remember that those buttons exist. If they can't be fucked to press a single button I can't be fucked to swap stances and fuck my whole rotation up. The only people who still have any kind of excuse are bard/machinist.

To look up the most optimal leves to use to level
Have a friend HQ craft stuff for you. Do this to get at least one to 50. Unlock moogle beast tribe ASAP. Long quest line but worth it. level that crafter to 55 to start doing weekly collectable turn ins
Use your red scripts to buy the "+150% xp for crafting for 300k xp" buffs. You can get a ton for cheap.
Now, using those buffs, quick synth on other jobs to get to 50, while using leves probably somewhere between 30-40
You can get to 25-30 just by quick synthing vendor trash at the crafter guild
Get everything to fifty (while also getting the first crafter to 60 using moogle dailies) and unlock namazu
Now, every day you can do the namazu for your lvl 60 and moogles for your lvl 50s and by the time you hit 70 on the first one, you'll reach 60 on the other so you can just keep it going.
Don't forget collectable turn ins and GC turn ins as well for extra bits of xp to make it a bit more bearable.
That's it.
I guess you could do it without the xp buff but you just get the most bang for your buck that way.

for the first 50 levels the crafters are pretty independent aside from processed materials like cloth or lumber.

alchemy and culinarian rely heavily on mining and botany but don't need much else

culinarian is pretty much self contained, but it's a pain getting ingredients if you don't have gatherers
the better option is probably carpenter, since you want to level that one to 50 first anyway for byregot's blessing and it uses mostly wood with some alchemy stuff

We go to the First for the main expansion story, then wrap up the aftermath in 5.1, and then head back to the conflict with Garlemald in the next patches, setting up for 6.0 which is finally going to be about us taking the fight back to their homeland.
This expansion is basically just a filler story so they don't have to resolve the main conflict of the game just yet and can string us along for 2 years more.

I can go ahead and tell you right now, no amount of you gearing yourself up will not fix a 30% enrage. That time would be better spent coaching each individual to play their job better. It takes 30 mins to an hour at most at dummies and a bit of research to play jobs at a baseline level needed for clears.

When I first started FFXIV I chose an American server since I figured I'd have to go there as an English speaker.

All that fucking aggro pulling until the 2 other tanks gave up in Labyrinth of the ancients was atrocious. It's like a dick waving contest. Glad I moved to Kujata a year later. It's a completely different experience.

There's a lot of other English speaking players so it's not so bad. I have macro's made up to say Hi to Japanese players in dungeons.

Most people don't care if you're not a shitter.

People have commented at length about the difference in play style on Japanese servers leading to a generally more pleasant experience with randoms. There are a couple servers with sizable English communities too. I think Tonberry might be majority English at this point, but it still acts more Japanese in public.

They are really friendly even though i can't understand them
They also don't yell at me when i fucked up the strat
They are very good and can carry you.
The only downside is the loneliness and the feeling of being left out because of language barrier
