Golden Sun represents an opportunity cost, they can just make a better selling Mario game

You can only sustain so many IPs with a given number of employees. Camelot probably makes them more money making Mario spinoffs than they ever did on Golden Sun. This is assuming that Golden Sun appearing in Smash even generates any interest, and that the interest generate actually translates to consistent sales.

They need to invest in themselves and develop more studios, increase how much they can make. Not even talking about SSB here.

Golden Sun didn't sell horribly though. The two on GBA did about as well as the average Kirby game. The third was a flop though, and I didn't even know it existed until last year.

Nintendo already has much more IPs than games they can produce, and have been struggling for a while in finding a balance between releasing first party software support and letting third parties live on the platform by not competing with them.
Nintendo has no interest in reviving Golden Sun or whatever, they are fine with Monolith Soft covering party based JRPGs and having the million JRPGs Square Enix and others bring in as further support

And that's why we have droughts.

I think the problem is the kind of IPs they decide to focus on, Yoshi was released recently but no one gives two fucks about it, that was probably their First Party major coverage for this month, with Mortal Kombat, Smash's excitement with Joker's DLC, Cuphead and Katana Zero as further supporters

Joker's reception is tepid at best. As Sakurai said, once the initial shock of an unexpected character wears off, you're not left with much afterward if the character itself isn't creative, unique, and fun.

I mean, a DLC even if you hate it usually does bring people to play the game more, to try the character or try and beat up him

I don't understand why anyone would think a bunch of distinct platformer series works but a bunch of distinct games of other genres doesn't. Good libraries have all kinds of unique games in every genre.

You can construct this same thing with almost any character, stop being a parrot

2D Platformers are much cheaper and the characters are too much of an icon, they are also faster to finish which means people who like them are eager for more easily.
JRPGs are long as fuck.

And this is where franchise fatigue (Yoshi, Kirby) sets in. Nintendo needs a lot more volume and variety than it currently offers.

Yoshi's problem is that the games have been consistently mediocre for a long time. Both to fans and non-fans. Star Allies got some flak but Kirby has more or less retained the interest of the series' fans.

Absolute worst type of characterfag right here. The kind that just sees Smash as a means to revive their favourite dead franchises and act like doing this is the entire purpose of Smash Bros.

Smash is not a hospital for defunct IPs. It is a crossover game for popular franchises. The franchises that are in Smash are there to improve Smash, not the other way around. If you actually want a particular character to be in Smash start by asking for their series to get a new game.
