Steam user here. I prefer Steam over other games distribution platforms and I like Valve developed games as well.
That said, I am worried about Steam’s future. And not because of competition like Epic Games Store, but because of some of the users in Steam: mostly the /pol/zoomer and anglo crowd on Steam. I’m worried that while Steam is objectively the best tool for Developers to use a wide audience, more and more that very audience itself is leaving bad tastes in developer’s and the public’s mouths and more and more they are starting to abandon them.
I’m a level headed and practical guy. I don’t care about idealism and slogans. I just want to live a good life and be good to people. Steam platform was the platform for me because it never bought into bullshit.
Unfortunately, a lot of users on steam have bought into bullshit over the course of their lives and through their spergy attitudes they are destroying Steam’s reputation.
Devs don’t want to release games that have black characters in them on Steam because they’re afraid of getting reviewbombed by these very people who have lost track of what’s good in this world.
I get embarrassed when I see discussions about EGS. Instead of criticizing its practices and actions, every thread becomes a tired racism thread where we hear chink or tianamen square 1000 times. It almost feels like it’s the shills themselves doing this to make Steam users look bad, but in the end it’s hard to deny it’s some of these self-labeled “redpilled” crowds that do this shit to themselves.
I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t think good times are ahead for Steam, and it’s all your fault.

Do you have evidence of publishers or developers admonishing Steam users? I haven’t really heard anything about it. A couple indie developers who are mad their shit game got made fun of don’t count.
I agree with you though. It socks me out that gamers and games are so polarized and fucking politicized sometimes. I hate hearing consumers pretend to be psychotic bigots or altruistic retards. I don’t know if that behavior is really going to affect Steam though.
