Any good?
Any good?
Yes
Game of the Generation.
Its amazing, the best JRPG released last year.
it's ok. you can spend a lot of time on it and collect stuff which is its redeeming factor. no gameplay though
Yes
It's got it's issues, but it's pretty good.
Yes.
best jrpg ive played in a while.
I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's very good.
>last year
2017*
agreed. best I've played since I played Trails in the Sky when it was released on steam.
It's tied with Dragon Quest 11 for JRPG on the generation
Extremely rough diamond. It's objectively flawed in a lot of ways, but it's still a fantastic game in spite of them.
It's really really good. Probably the only reason I don't regret buying a Switch.
God no. Terrible characters and character design, mediocre story and littered with objectively bad design everywhere from enemy placement to UI and menus and maps. Grindy mobile gacha progression tedious auto attack combat and wait for combo prompts. Great world design, so much that it belongs in a better game. On the letter grade its a F. Don't bother.
Yeah, it’s objectively good, even if certain shitposters will come into this thread sooner or later and say otherwise.
the game is decent. the voice acting however.... prepare to have your ears bleed. British peasantry speak is unhealthy to listen too.
>Being this upset you can't afford a Switch
Flawed masterpiece IMO
I have a switch.
Xenoblade 2 really scratched an itch I never really knew I had or perhaps an itch that I've long forgotten.
Xenoblade 2 brought that early MMO feeling back to me in the form of a single player JRPG.
In a lot of ways, it’s like a PS1 RPG. The music is great, the story gets just the right amount of insane, and the tropes are cute and cozy.
Underrated IMO. The game has its obvious flaws, but it’s a blast to play. It really opens up after the 20 hour mark, and I know that’s a meme, but damn it if the end to chapter 3 isn’t worth the wait.
It's a 7/10 (still a good rating), reminds me of the old JRPG and old anime I grew up with.
Play the first xenoblade instead, even though 2 is really good
How is Party building in this game?
Is it like FF5 where your options become obvious very early on and you have the whole game to build on them?
Or does it do that thing where you're constantly trickle fed new characters (or forced to use certain onces) causing you to have to relearn new mechanics and team dynamics as you go along?
How bad is that isekai trope where characters yell the name of their attacks as they use them? I hate that shit but I can stomach it in low quantities
Was thinking of grabbing it while it's 33% off on the e-shop
I liked XBC1 but never finished it because it was too buggy on the 3DS, is it necessary to play the first to understand this one?
ANKA SHAWT
Another XBC2 thread? Nice! Just want to thank user from yesterday who told me about Ursula quest line. Was spamming mercs missions and doing side quests whole evening.
It's great. It is a Xeno game though, as in its got a ton of flaws and design choices that will have you scratching your head. And the story is a Xeno story full stop which either means you'll love or hate it, no inbetween.
>How is the party system?
Characters can be either Attackers, Healers, or Tanks, or any combination of two depending on what Blades you assign them. However, certain characters are naturally better Tanks, healers, or attackers, and you should work them in a way that you can benefit from that niche.
>Spoiler
Yeah, they talk A LOT during fights, so they only thing I can recommend is turning your volume down or something like that.
>Is it necessary to play the first to understand this one?
No, but you do miss out on little references here and there, and the ending is somewhat less satisfying.
You basically have 5 party members, MC whose good at everything, ether based healer, big damage warrior, speed tank, and beefy tank.
But you can totally customize any of them based of their secondary party members (Blades) that can fill all those roles and all have different properties associated with them and change the main members moves. There's a good deal of customization involved.
Thanks user, I'm not too bothered about talking, it's more the yelling out attack names specifically that trigger me
That doesn't address my main concern though, can I build a party and stick with it or will it force me to use/not use characters at random times throughout the plot?
I like the tank/dd/healer trinity, MMOs are my main fave genre
This game has one of the best rpg combat systems ever.
>And the story is a Xeno story full stop which either means you'll love or hate it, no inbetween.
I was actually surprised where the story ended up going considering initial impressions, feels like a much more lighthearted xenogears at times.
There will be points where some characters can be unusable, but that mainly happens in Chapter 5, but doesn’t happen much before or after that point, and you’re never forced to use any party member that joins you.
Best rpg of this generation
