Playing with randoms is like pulling teeth. Get your other autistic friends together and play with them, otherwise it's going to be an awful time anyway. The only time randoms have spoken over mic in the past few months or so in my experience is in the middle of PvP, and it wasn't my teammates doing the talking.

I haven’t played in years, yet I only have fond memories and 1000s of hours, abs anytime I log in the lobby’s are crazy, and filled with fighting over the mic and shit.
The game is as popular as it was, there’s an entire scene surrounded by this and it gets regularly updated. Just because/v/eddit doesn’t play doesn’t mean shit in terms of its presence in people’s minds.

Only a few Adversary Modes are fun since most of them are garbage. There's a reason why so many of them are dead.
That being said, all these new memeatic modes killed all the original ones that came with the game. Not to say that they were good, a lot were awful, but the entire list is bloated and you can't join the exact game you want without being specifically invited by someone or by luck, or you have to make it yourself.

I remember liking Survivals a whole lot, even if they were usually bullshit with enemies spawning quite literally behind you and have insane accuracy, but Rockstar never even bothered increasing the pay of the old modes because they want everyone to grind the new modes.

I remember before heists the only missions I ever did were contact missions because it felt like I was taking part in the world somehow and not some weird, meta deathmatch where nothing matters. I prefer that kinda stuff and freemode stuff.

I've deleted the game a day before the nightclub music came out. The music was good, sure, but like I predicted, it had a hidden "update" in it with a brokenly OP meme vehicle, as if the flying DeLorean with ultra-accurate rockets (I forgot its name) that people were able to exploit to fly under the map wasn't bad enough, and they're all insured, so you're punished for daring to defend yourself with a $10K insurance bill.

I started playing well after all the major updates, when GTA V went on sale for about $10. It was fun grinding for a good 2 months, but I missed a daily and realized I didnt really want to play anymore after buying mostly everything.

I created a 2nd character to house duped cars. At first, it was slow with some glitches only netting me a total of a million, but then I hit jackpot with a glitch that made me play as Franklin in Online and froze my cash, so I could buy anything I want without having to spend a single dollar as long as I had the minimum amount of money to buy the items to not get the message I don't have enough to buy the item.

I've quite literally had 70 of the X80 Proto in many garages, 10 Oppressors in the biker garage, and I think a handful of the giant russian plane you can put in your hangar. If I sold them all, I'd get over 200 million dollars, nearly 300 million if I traded all the properties for the cheapest ones. By then, I realized how fucking pointless the game has become now that I no longer have to worry about grinding ever again.

Contact Missions and Heists are the best thing about the game. PvP is broken as fuck same as Red Dead and all the other content is more or less Trackmania. I remember when they wanted to tell a story with missions and hinted at adding liberty city.

Been playing this all year since 2019, the only online game I like, I'm new, this and RDR2.
People are on it all the time and fighting over the mic. For me it is new, and overwhelming at first, I've seen many new players say the same, that the game has so much content now that if you're new, it will be difficult to understand for a while. But then it all makes sense and you get into the grinding for money stuff.
It's still a fun game as far as online games go.

RDR2 online is just death match stuff and mostly empty outside of the death matches and only the newest ones, the older game modes are already empty. They also have some grindy missions spread out across the map.
Many are hoping they finally add something to the game.
I don't play online beyond these 2 games.

Yeah I think they went the other way actually. All the more recent MC/CEO stuff forces you out of passive and that's a large chunk of the game. And you don't have to pay for exploded vehicles now. I think even bad sport lobbies got removed.

I couldn't keep up with the people who nonstopped grinded. The first week was kind of fun, nobody had shit, so even if most dickheads started randomly trying to kill you, you could fight back. Then I stopped playing for a bit to play other games, went back, and found that everyone left was a dickhead with the top stuff because they grinded so hard. So the only way to play without dying every few seconds to a bunch of people roaming the map just looking for people to kill was passive, which was no fun. I hear it's even worse now, with everyone with a fucking armored jet just flying around and blowing anyone up on the ground.

Taking away levels, cars, and items from people who literally get 1 dollar from a hacker (happened to me)
Heists never getting fucking updated
God awful randoms
Shitty "world" events that gave god awful EXP compared to heists
SHARK CARDS
and the inability to allow us to mod the game made me bored as sin.
Plus, all the fun weapons were locked to level 200+.
It was fun for a while, blowing up kuruma shitters though, fuck those niggers.

yep, it's still shit. with friends it's kind of fun or if you know the game doesn't have cheaters then yes. some of the missions are pretty good in online too. they add some content to the game despite being simple fetch missions but they got some story too.
