When the fuck does it get 'good' or more interesting? Been playing it for almost 2 hours now it's only been pretty damn boring so far.

Never. It's BG for the new generation without all the DnD charm.

Literally all of DA:O is "that part". Though it's still fun to play when the game opens up after Lothering.
My biggest problem is the lack of fun builds, even mages do the same shit in every fight. Rogues are actually the only dynamic class.

The game and story are fairly generic, it was serviceable for the time, but far from a timeless classic.
My suggestion is to just play Divinity Original Sin I/II instead.

Combat never gets good.
Characters, once you get ones that aren't just fill-ins during the early tutorials, are immediately good. Alistair/Morrigan banter starts immediately and never stops.
Story is bretty good at the start and end of each of the four major branches, and dead and nonexistent in the middle of those as dungeon crawling happens. Biggest offender is the mage tower, where after what feels like ages you finally get to a dumb fakeout which throws you back to even worse dungeon crawling for several more hours before the story finally feels like progressing.

Don't listen to a single one of these brainlets.

You're only half-right, dude. There are still loads of crappy sections where you do nothing but fight enemies which is lame because the combat is the worst part of the game. I'll say that it's still stupid to disregard the game because of that.

Getting all of the stat boosts in the fade is tedious. Running through it without going out of your way isn't that bad.

Fade is only fun if you are playing the first time or completely forgot about how it plays. Otherwise it's a drag with the easy puzzles and pretty easy solo fights.

It never gets more interesting. You should have played Dragon Age 2, it's unironically a fun game. DA:O is boring and was the last Bioware game I bought after being a huge fan in the early 2000's.

Dragon Age: Origins is a boring RPG that is far below the levels of any of the Infinity Engine games.

Deep Roads are good if you enjoy the combat. And good luck finding a build with a fun gameplay.

Dragon Age as a series has beenndry, creatively senile and just not that inviting for players. Aside from Kingdoms of Amalur I cant think of a game that I knew I wasn't going to finish immediately after making a character.

At least when you unlock more characters and more skills you can combine shit, and fight more dynamic enemies. I don't remember how long the game is, but I'm guessing you'll get a good idea of how all of it is at around 10-12 hours or so. Do what you want, ultimately. Just don't produce posts like , being a bitter jaded fuck, and taking pride in it, looking down on people able to enjoy things.
