Even then they're basically best friends and Majima respects Kiryu a lot to the point of begrudgingly going back to the Tojo in 2 and risking his neck with Daigo to keep Kiryu and the orphanage safe in 3. Dude's got a good heart.

To be fair, Saejima was ultimately Majima's life goal at that point and Daigo was screwing up all on his own as well with the money problems.

Most of what he's done wrong isn't his fault.

Literally gets thrown into the lion's den having never lead anyone in his life, even the people following him in Kamurocho were just following him, he wasn't ordering them around or anything. He also ends up saving Kamurocho anyway.
>Yakuza 3
The Tojo Clan was doing fine until a bunch of people were working with Black Monday and Wesker behind his back. He even did his best with Majima to keep the orphanage safe from any Yakuza business until that mess happened which was out of their control considering it was an international conspiracy.
>Yakuza 4
This is totally his fault, not even gonna argue. He was an idiot and threw everyone under the bus, but again I'll say that he's only been leading for two years by this point and both years had criminal conspiracies and his own men plotting against him so it makes some sense why he panicked.
>Yakuza 5
Dude actually had the best keikaku out of any Yakuza character at that point. Daigo was basically playing 6D chess with everyone. He literally outmaneuvered the people looking to betray him, got the families that the traitors were trying to get on his side even after the entire mess anyway, he managed to shoot the Omi chairman, he saved Katsuya, he got Kiryu involved in helping him oust the traitors since he wasn't really doing anything and knew it would affect his family, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's insane how competent he was here, and blaming Aizawa on him isn't really fair since that was totally unforseen.
>Yakuza 6
This wasn't his fault, he was already going to jail because of 5's events so everyone else decided to betray him while he was put away.
>Ishin
Yeah, this is totally on him. The only thing he did right was agree to the terms to save Japan, everything else was the biggest mistake he's ever made.
