But we already have niche characters in the series and niche characters that were sold as DLC. Bayonetta isn't exactly in the same league as Cloud in terms of being known by the general public but she was DLC for Smash 4. So we already have precedence for characters (both 3rd Party & First Party, both in the base game, and DLC) that aren't exactly the most known that Nintendo is willing to put in. Also Atlus just has to keep it up Persona has become bigger and bigger since Persona 3. Persona 3 was the start, Persona 4 elevated it, and Persona 5 was the breakout hit. And I'm sure the Royal version of Persona 5 is going to sell well too.

I hope P5S is exclusive for the switch just rub it against you ps4 losers

I disagree. People pay for characters they don't know all the time for Smash DLC in the past. Corrin is probably the biggest example as his game was Japan only when he was announced for Smash 4 DLC. And I know there are people I've seen who were more willing to actually check out Persona 5 after Joker's inclusion in Smash. For the people who don't own a PS3/PS4, there are still Persona games on the 3DS as well.

Metal Gear and Final Fantasy still both had long histories with Nintendo even though their modern entries never made it to Nintendo consoles. In Persona's two decade-long history, there's been a grand total of one (now recently two) game released on Nintendo hardware, and it was a spin-off at that. Snake and Cloud are also two of the biggest characters in gaming from two of the biggest franchises; Joker and Persona are popular, sure, but it's not even remotely comparable.

I agree that Joker being in Smash by no means guarantees P5 coming to Switch, but comparing his inclusion to Snake or Cloud is fucking retarded.
