Is WoW worth getting into...

Is WoW worth getting into? I'm a complete noob but the game looks so jammed full of content and the community seems so cool. Is it too late to hop on? I'm also worried about micro transactions. Like I want to be able to get mounts, pets, gear, and all the cool stuff without constantly shilling out.

Do I buy?

nice bait

No

private servers
there's no reason anyone should be shilling out money for any game
let the whales fund the diminishing returns of this hobby

Wow Classic is coming out soon, you can hop in with everybody then

Just play Ragnarok M on your phone :^)

The concept of mmos sounds fun. The actual games are not.

This isn't bait I'm being serious. I've always been interested in the game. I want actual reasons on why I should or shouldn't buy it.

>so jammed full of content
99% of which is absolutely irrelevant, enjoy your azerite grind.

If you're seriously asking and this isn't a bait thread then consider suicide.

wait for classic and play that instead

micro transaction? Barely any of it besides some random shit you don't need unless you're talking about subscription.
If you're serious and not baiting, the answer is yes.
I will never deprive anyone from not experiencing Azeroth. It is a great game.
However you already missed out on the golden age of MMO's and the game is hollow in comparison to the past glory days.
It is worth experiencing once over but not worth staying subscribed long term at the moment.
This never dying game is worth checking out every expansion as long as you think it's worth your time and price.

Why? I have absolutely no knowledge on the game
I'm completely going off of first impressions.

There is an expanding cash shop but the 95% majority of mounts/pets/etc is just locked behind grinds of varrying lengths. Most things are not that big of a hassle.

Most players and ex players would tell you to avoid the game because its not in a good shape right now. IMO a totally new player can definitely a few months worth of entertainment, but you will also definitely feel like you missed the boat on a lot of things while you level past dead content.

It's absolute dogshit, don't bother
Try out Classic when it drops, retail is for paypigs who've invested 10+ years into the game and fell for the sunk cost meme

Wait for WoW classic, everyone on twitch will jump on the bandwagon for at least the first week

Is the community still active and fun? I'm not sure but I remember people talking about open world PVP and that sounds really cool. I've also watched videos of open world PVP raids like that funeral or some shit. Looked insane and I've never seen anything like it in an MMO

Soulless, mindless, and pointless time gated grinding is the only thing waiting for you with retail WoW.

Theres is no sense of accomplishement

There is no fun to be had

It's just a vapid shallow time waster that might as well belong on a phone.

>world PVP raids like that funeral or some shit
You're like 10 years too late. None of that shit happens anymore. There is no community. World PVP is a fucking joke. Seriously don't bother, I played off and on through every expansion and BFA is the worst, WoD a close second for worst.

Wow has been changed so much it's no longer a good game. It's a shell of what it has been. You are 10 to 15 years late. Just forget it.

to be honest the game isn't catering to fun interactive stuff like that any more.
However there are some RP servers that keep a tight knit server community where you will find yourself very immersed.
This is a once in a lifetime game, there's a reason it was the king of video games for the longest time.
You should do yourself a favour and at least experience it once yourself instead of listening to others.
I'm not telling you to stay subbed, but trying the game is FREE up to lvl 20.

Well that's disheartening. I thought this was gonna be my next addiction. Is Classic worth all the hype?

Classic appeals to nostalgia. I honestly don't know if someone who has never played it can get into it in 2019.

I will though.

Your mog looks like shit, just like opinion.

If you’re asking seriously just check out the free trial up to level 20. I think it’ll give you a basic idea at least of what it’s like.

OP here.

Since the general consensus seems to be no what games should I check out? Final Fantasy 14 is getting a lot of praise. Anyone know if it's worth checking out?

leveling up to 20 is not at all what the game is going to be like.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no

I barely played vanilla as a kid and I had a great time on Nostalrius. The game really is something special with perhaps even a bit of SOUL even when experienced today. The servers will likely dwindle over time as people get there fill of it but I have no doubt there will be tens of thousands of people enjoying it at the start.

go outside you fucking child

user there are no good MMOs.

>Anyone know if it's worth checking out?
only if you're a tranny

nice try, i know i look good thanks.

>Is WoW worth getting into?
Absolutely no
>I want to be able to get mounts, pets, gear, and all the cool stuff without constantly shilling out.
Enjoy spending stupid amounts of time grinding to get meaningless rewards instead. You won't pay in cash but with time instead

Don't do that to yourself

Wait for Classic. Not joking.

>implying classic isn't going to be 15$/m like retail

jokes on you im on a laptop outside rn

>Tfw I'm playing retail right now and am sitting in Goldshire with a bunch of others defending the people egg farming from constant attacks by groups of Horde including raid drops and rooting out rogue bands
I dunno, seems pretty fun to me.

I kinda like it... just barely

feelsgood getting mad whispers ingame when I dress like an NPC

Attached: aef79da467a32ce2397f10de073683f3.png (600x577, 768K)

The twist is that you're actually an NPC

Attached: 1537117226891.jpg (230x368, 7K)

is it gonna be with updated graphics?

yep, all the legendary heroes are non player characters.

Attached: durotan young.jpg (1920x1080, 468K)

I think they added the option to have the new graphics.

The difference is that you're a no name character in an MMO, not Thrall. Ypu're like one of those flavour npcs that walks around orgrimmar but has no quests and doesn't serve any purpose besides making the city look populated.

The only people who hate it are the ones playing for years, newcomers mostly enjoy it

How many heroes does Azeroth needs to save the world?
Too many

Nice headcanon.

Attached: wei-wang-durotan-face-002-small-size.jpg (1413x1843, 558K)

transmog runs aren't content

Wow you mixed 2 slightly matching sets and have THE WRONG BELT, where is it dude invisible belt is definitely not the right choice for that mog.

The best canon

>no shoes

gonna give an actual response and say just play FFXIV, you can still get the base game on twitch prime right now which should give you enough time to get up to level 50 and decide if you want to stick with it. just know that the early levels are pretty terrible

a hollow shell of its former self. If you still aren't convinced by all the feedback, then go ahead and waste your time

nah those herb pouches are awesome.
if you're a stylin' orcish shaman you dont need shoes

Attached: 300px-Nerzhul.jpg (300x360, 31K)

if you've never played before, absolutely yes. the game isn't in the best state at the moment but a newcomer won't have anything to compare it to.

i'm not trying to be creative here btw, it's literally an Rehgar Earthfury set dummy.

Attached: rehgar_earthfury_world_of_warcraft_action_figure_1488743779_74d15b05.jpg (640x640, 59K)

Rehgar's wearing an alliance warfront plate belt BAKA no wonder you have the wrong belt.

This. The idea of a huge virtual world with millions of other people just sounds so cool on paper. Then you play these games and it's just watered down jrpg combat, monotonous fetch quests, and the only real gameplay hook is finding better gear to make you a tenth of a percent more efficient at your boring fetch quests. I just don't get it.

I will cause a drama fuss and call my guild leader a faggot over 1% crit rating on a pair of boots

The whole point of MMOs is supposed to be providing context to social interaction. The entire genre plays off the term "Anything is fun with friends", except unlike other games where social interaction happens as a result of the game, MMOs are the exact opposite.

Or at least that's how it's supposed to be.

funny enough i actually do have the wolf head belt "Warsong Cord" but the tasels clip through the kilt and it doesn't match well.
Besides that, ingame he uses the generic Dark Korkron belt which doesnt match the concept art.
wowhead.com/item=113813/warsong-cord

Uhhmm no, sweetie. MMOs are for dressup with your character and ERP.

ERP is social interaction, and the best part of dressup is showing off to others.

Coming to Yea Forums and asking for serious advice on a game? Big yikes friend.
FFXIV is good after the initial investment period where you get past the vanilla main story questing and have a bunch of features unlocked.

Always seemed like it would be a lot of fun to do stuff like this, but I think the concept was lost when it went from 4-6 man parties to 40+ member parties. You don't know those people, and you don't care t know those people.

classic

You missed the boat on that one. Game went to shit well over a decade ago.
>game looks so jammed full of content
99% of which is completely irrelevant(and trivial), only the latest patch of the latest expansion being in any way relevant.

>XIV
only if you're a tranny.

Wait for Classic if you want to play WoW. It's gonna be filled with boomers and nostalgiafags but that's still way better than the communities of retail or XIV. Just don't pick a server with any big streamers.

yeah, blizzard have a shitty habit of gutting any relevance from previous expansions

>99% of which is completely irrelevant(and trivial), only the latest patch of the latest expansion being in any way relevant.
wrong, a fresh newbie would still enjoy one playthrough throughout the old questing and dungeon content at the very least once through

If you never played it, dont. It's a mess.

How? You two-tap mobs, no one will ever be at risk of dying while you're AoE grinding entire dungeons, and any of the guys in heirloom could clear it on their own. It's completely trivial, an utter chore, and it's dead. There's a reason they let you pay to skip it now. If you level a character in nuWoW, it's your own damn fault.

starting playing wow is like starting to smoke crack.

is it fun? yeah bud it's crack it's a good time.

is it worth your time and money? no.

If your plan is to get cosmetics, i'd say go for it. Theres tons of it to collect from every expansion.
Dont listen to naysayers, most of them are literall autists that care if new item gives them 0,5% or 0,6% of "very important stat". And if youre one of them well yikes then.

I leveled zandalari lately and had a great fun.

right

It's pretty fun for a while because the gameplay feels so nice.
I would recommend trying the free trial to level 20.

However, others itt are correct in saying that retail wow is lacking soul compared to vanilla. Retail has a lot of QOL things that make the game really nice for casual players, but they ultimately destroyed what probably made the game so great during vanilla and tbc. Back then, servers were self contained, there was no dungeon finder, no quest markers etc. If you wanted to do a dungeon, you had to manually gather a group of people, and at least 2 of you had to manually travel to the dungeon to summon the others. It requires communication and was always a journey. Leveling felt challenging and everyone was equipped like shit. It was an adventure.
If you buy retail, you get a free boost to instantly make one character level 110. That's great for richfags like me who already know the game and quickly want another character for their arena lineup. But for new people it's stupid because they will miss a lot of the magic.
Don't want to use the boost? Have fun leveling with no gear while everyone else is fully equipped in heirlooms (account wide item sets that level up with your character and have insane stats and give more exp) and one or two shots everything and kills 30 mobs at once.
But the worst part is the dungeon finder. You can just queue for a dungeon via a menu and once a group has been assembled, everyone gets teleported into the easy as fuck dungeon where nobody will say a word because everyone knows the content and its piss easy. And most people will be sharded in from other servers.

I'd suggest waiting for classic and playing that. You might actually get the chance to experience what Wow used to be for the first time. Then, once you have a better understanding of the game, you can still try retail and see if you like QOL and casual playing over soul and the original experience.

since the scaling heirlooms don't be shit really.
The only thing is that it scales with your levels. It doesn't make you too OP.

don't do shit*

no, you'll just one-shot anything you run across instead of it taking two hits
it's not even a fucking game anymore, you just walk around and win by default

You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.
That was before heirloom nerf and scaling patch.

>Is WoW worth getting into?
Ahahahahhah
ahahahahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahah
ahahahahahahahahaha

I playe FFXIV

Do NOT sub to this game, it gets worse every fucking xpac and i only stay to play with friends at this point because they're addicts. The director, Yoshi p, is a fucking incompetent shithead, he is leaving after the shadoebringers expansion, so come check it out after 2 or 3 years

I've tried this turd. Arms warrior, insta-killed mobs in fucking whites with an auto and mortal strike. The "game" is fucking pathetic.

what you said made no sense, thank you user from 2015.
