MW2 was a clusterfuck but playing multiplayer and custom games all night with my friends from high school are some of my fondest memories. I haven't spoken with any of them in almost a decade.

I don't know how Modern Wafer 2 did it, but it's the only game to have brought all my friends together. Most are hipsters, stuck in the 90's, weebs or play racing games / sims only.

this game caters to a specific audience that most likely doesn't post here.
if you owned a console when this game first came out and chances are you played it everyday with your friends after school/work.it was the sort of game you play religiously like halo or cs. i know i might be a console fag but its where most of my friends play.i waited for every dlc to come out and it was amazing.

I want to go back because I've come to terms with the fact that I was in a top tier class in that game and probably my peak "skill" as far as games are concerned. On top of how addicting it was to unlock all the shit the game had to offer for you.

Has any game offered "showing off" better than that game? Those player card titles and were one of a kind and almost always worth showing off with an equally as impressive emblem. My very first goal in that game was to get all of the moving killstreak emblems.

You have to realize that COD represented a particular zeitgeist, and the two MWs especially. COD4 was all about killing terrorists in Arab land while the worst part of that war was going on. And MW2 was practically my only form of entertainment during the recession.
