My biggest complaint is that the moveset feels too utilitarian. It's not, dare I say, stylish.
It doesn't have stuff like Real Impact, Omen, Mega Cascade. It doesn't have gimmick weapons like Nevan or Lucifer. The weapons are just flaccid in comparison.
And there's not even a taunt system either.
Pros:

>Enemies. AI is shit. This is not something new in the franchise tho, but the game is piss easy.

Oh also too many filler segments in levels where you're just doing mindless platforming or unskippable walk-and-talk story segments, which makes replaying certain levels annoying

DMC1 is unironically the best in the series - quick to play, responsive, and never loses its fun value on replays. DMC3 is a slog to tread through over & over and everything is too damn dark, while 4 is noted to have its problems with backtracking. Didn’t play 5 yet, so I can’t tell how that stacks up, but 1 still seems better at glance.

They absolutely did fix the framerate in DE, though I dunno if that’s true for the whole game or only in turbo mode, and a bunch of the bugs got unfucked in DE too. Couple this with the secret mission changes, and DE is absolutely a totally different game, it’s a definite improvement over the original and should at least be played once. DMC2 should be forgotten forever.

Yeah, that's still a flaw. I know what you say later does explain that the gameplay is flaw, but I'd never consider a pro saying "it could be worse".

My biggest problem with 5 is the level design being mostly composed of corridors. Also, Dante is still locked to 7 or 8 missions. Enemy architecture is other thing that I hate. But they will never fix it at this point.
