Made a Neptunia stage at the end of last thread. I just really wanted a Nep stage and the only ones by other people were just Nep sprites and art, but doing anything based on locations would require some hardcore perspective and art skills I don't have, so I went for something more "concept"-y using the series visual stylings. The stage itself is jank and the AI sucks ass at it since it moves, but oh well.
Added it to my list of stages I made, pic related. My goal with these is to try and represent games I like relatively faithfully, while maintaining designs that work for Smash gameplay.

It isn't touching the station. I turned off the grid and very carefully moved it like one pixel away from it. I wish you could just manually set things as grouped together instead of it automatically doing it, it really restricts what you can do.

My levels aren't great, but I'd appreciate it if anyone wanted to take a look. Oldest is the bottom. Meant to resemble the Metroid hatchling canister breaking and it floating around. Middle is styled after the Impact Crater with lava for red Phazon and another flying Metroid. Top is a simple little level with wind like you're fighting on a missile or super missile that Samus just fired.

I'm always torn on whether to use lava or bumpers for hazardous objects, I'm starting to like bumpers more, the lava usually looks really weird when it starts to merge with things, which would look really terrible on his knife especially since it's shrunken so much, to the point it probably wouldn't resemble a knife anymore

Gotcha, true that. Btw, I noticed you have some nice decorations in both the foreground and background, which add life to the map. How do you do that without running out? Do you receive more development space due to the stage being normal size rather than large?
I wanted to add so much more to my L4D stage but ran out after making the red H on the helipad, the Mercy Hospital logo, and the Tank with its rail movement.
I'm assuming the builder's limitation could be based on initial shape sizes as well?

Good question, for now the only dynamic element is parakarry flying by, which happens on repeat (but there's around a 30 second gap as it loops around out of sight. I should be able to add a bumper into them I think but I'm not sure a warp can fit comfortably into the stage. It's quite a small play area.

I honestly still can't fully figure out what determines the total weight of assets used in a Stage. I think it has to do with polygon and angle counts since the circle tool by far takes up the most weight of anything else which would definitely have the most polygons, but I can't say for sure
I also can't tell if the bigger size stages are allowed more weight or not, but I strangely feel like I've been able to actually make my small / normal sized ones have more going on in them than the big ones so it might be the case. One thing I can advise is try to always use as few pieces as you can, if you want to make a building for example, don't make it out of multiple rectangles / square tools, make it with the free hand so it is just one big piece. I think that's what's helped me the most with cutting down weight and having room to still decorate stuff
I think it's actually my most fun stage to play on by far now, Bub's mouth opens and closes fully so if you're really high on damage it's fun to try to hide inside his mouth and defend yourself from attacks when he opens it and leaves you vulnerable

I figured the bumper would be better because otherwise he's just a platform you can escape to whenever he comes by, I'm a fan of some more gimmicks and hazards to make it interesting
I like that the stage is small because huge stages are a drag but for the same reason I just mentioned I think having the pipe actually warp you or at least be interactable would be more interesting than just having it in the background, but again it depends on how exactly the stage is laid out

The steepness of the slopes are to ensure that none of the marbles ever get stuck/stay in place. It might make for not-so-great platforming but it helps the performance of the stage.

Can soft confirm size doesn't matter towards the builder's limits. Assuming I counted correctly, I have about 36 assets in a big stage. We all may want to garner some analytics to test the functionality of the Builder, each time we all create a stage. Eventually, we should be able to find a way to properly use the Builder to it's fullest. A Yea Forums guidebook, if you will.

I've been fucking around and I think this'll do the trick; create a save backup, disable auto backups. Delete the maps you don't want shown, then redownload your backup when you want your creeper maps back. I just experimented with this so not sure if any other wrinkles about it, but seems to work. pic for visibility
