Except it didn't. It was outright inferior in every way from level design, world variety, power up variety, aesthetics, and music. The one thing SMW does well is the alternate exit thing but your reward for finding them is yet another mediocre stage that was slightly better hidden than the one you could've gone to if you completed that previous level normally.
