What are the best indie games?
starts easy gets real fucking hard
solid puzzle game
literally ruins lives by being too addicting/autism-inducing
genuinely one of the best games ever created. Mechanically dense and interesting & beautiful throughout
Actually excellent 2d action/puzzle game
Idk if it’s indie, but I fucking love Chroma Squad.
Blood pressure stimulator 2017
Very good atmosphere and mechanics
Seconding. It is like crack if you have even the smallest sliver of logistics interest.
Nope, reaccessing memories over the 4 decks is cumbersome and it does not punish trial and error, I have guessed a few fates. Lastly, the game can be ambiguous, for example a victim getting clawed when it looked like a strangulation to me, and also beast vs foreign enemy. How was I to know that a particular humanoid enemy was classified as a beast instead of a foreign enemy? Trial and error, that's how.
mandatory zachtronics game recommendation. This one is hacker-esque.
it relies a tad too much on esoteric information that you need to know outside of the game i.e. reliance on non-diegetic knowledge
Short but fun puzzle game
Yes it's an indie game
/thread
The game has some leeway on accepting fates exacly because it can be ambiguous
my favorite indie of all time is Hollow Knight. Close second is Furi
No one has ever heard of this game. It's a galactic conquest game, but it's make to look like flowers. So it's both super tense and super relaxing. The HD version has a better UI and more levels.
Not the best but pretty competent at what it does.
Best Sci-Fi game of the decade and it came from a team no one has heard of with no marketing or advertising.
Seriously? How is this forgotten?
Alright user i'll bite. Tell me more about this game.
>still no new platformers that can compete with it
play the first 15 minutes of the game. It gets trippier and trippier after that.
heres the trailer: youtu.be
>Furi and Hollow Knight
my nigga
Just got Katana Zero, its alright
Genuinely the best game I've ever played
I don't get the appeal of this guy's games. On one you get to play as a paper pusher doing repetitive shit as quick as possible. On another you use magic to view the past, making the the mystery solving aspect of the game moot.
most of the outside information is stuff that should be obvious. like what asian people look like, or what country a man wearing a turban might be from.
the only one i could kind of maybe seeing trip people up is not knowing where morocco is.
hotline miami, hollow knight, cave story, deadbolt, risk of rain, 140, thoth, the binding of isaac, undertale
>making the the mystery solving aspect of the game moot.
It's the only way you can solve the mystery part user
Only thing I don't like is the devs but that's besides
I love detective/mystery games, mostly weeb ones like DR, zero escape or umineko, but Obra Dinn was the only time I played a game like that where it actually made me feel like I had to solve shit myself instead of getting railroaded into the right answer. I doubt the dev is ever gonna make more, so I hope to see its gameplay style copied in the future.
I like most of the games in here
If you like detectives/mystery games, I recommend Ace Attorney. If you want a more western/indie type go for Aviary Attorney. Hotel Dusk is also very nice, nip game but western setting
The End is Nigh, World of Goo, Castle Crashers, Skullgirls, and pic related
plus pretty much everything this guy said
Seems like a stupid mechanic, I'd like a mistery that relies on you getting clues without fucking magic to piece it together. Also care either way about why a bunch of morons killed themselves, and less even about the specifics of which moron died in which spot. At least not enough to do it 50 times.
oh shit, also Spelunky
Sounds like you're retarded. Try actually playing the game.
downwell, terarria
All great games, even played stuff like the touhou clone of ace attorney. Haven't played Hotel Dusk 2 yet though, been meaning to one of these days.
>top-tier black&white Mac game aesthetic
>fag it up with 60fps cel-shaded 3d grafx
I did for an hour and a half and it was hot garbage. Hence why I'm bashing your overrated dev, little fanboy.
Probably my favorite indie of all time, as an indiefag.
I fucking HATE how short this game is. Love the atmosphere, the mechanics, everything, except for the fact that it quickly falls into a samey loop with only a few enemies and drone upgrades.
antichamber is an FPS puzzle game. It plays lots of tricks on you, but its fair and fun.
It's always a good time to put in the word for Cloudbuilt.
I'm at the point where most of the puzzles seem literally impossible, but I know it's just going to get harder.
I've only played Opus Magnum, but it was super fun. These other games kind of scare me.
This was cool, but some of the logic was kind of bullshit.
Hard to think of a game that has made me angrier. Why do I love it so much?
This game is just flat out fantastic. Great puzzles, great mechanic, great atmosphere, great story.
Any good 2019 indies? Worried all the big releases this year will overshadow some good stuff. Already aware of Baba and Rain.
>dozens of untouched games in steam library
>play nothing but free roguelikes
posting Saban's xcom because i love it
And why would you think anyone cares about your dumb opinions?
Best Game coming through
I'm a scrub, I couldn't get past the leg on Survivor
I should try replaying this, though I remember it being a bit easy.
You seem to care a lot lmao. Next time you get butthurt enough to reply more than a time dont play the who cares card, retard. You would have seen that one coming if you relied on logic instead of magic for your mystery solving :^)
Cave Story
Knytt Underground
La Mulana
I loved every minute of Obra Dinn, it was mysterious, comfy, and brutal at the same time.
If there is one indie game that I recommend everybody to play, it's Cave Story. It's freeware. There is a steam version, pirate it if you want, but I strongly recommend against supporting Nicalis.
What are the best roguelikes, Yea Forums?
Why would viewing the past make the mystery part of it moot if the gameplay goal is to figure out who's who rather than what happened.
>umad xd
Literal 12 year old detected.
If I cared I would try to argue with you, instead I'm just going to call you a retard again, retard.
I've been playing Cultist Simulator, it's a surprisingly rich game that uses decks of cards to play through forming and running a cultist dedicated to fictional deities. It's gorgeous in its art and very intriguing on both gameplay and fluff.
>hurr durr not enough explosions
I'm sure you wouldn't have figured it out anyway user
Kero Blaster is one my all time faves
Made by the guy who made Cave Story but doesn't get talked about as much
Game progresses level by level instead of an open world to explore but the level design is tight and the music is great
youtube.com
youtube.com
the game also has a "hard" mode but is essentially a complete redesign of the first few levels and then a completely new final level and final few bosses
>cel-shaded
You don't know what cel shading is
My Lithuanian.
Cave Story
Spelunky
Kero
but you all know about these
a total underrated gem that everyone should play
Within a Deep Forest
What's so bad about Nicalis?
lot of heart and charm, but at it's core there's not much going for it in the story department.
Who?
lucas pope. dev of OP game and paper's please
Caves of Qud and One Way Heroics are both fun.
I also like Tower of Guns and Dead Cells, but those aren't really roguelikes.
>Within a Deep Forest
that was really good
Gets repetitive after a very long time, but still a fun game.
I played this game a long time ago when it was free and called something else. Was kind of cute but just felt like a super blobby and simple RTS. Maybe they improved it since then (probably like a decade ago)
SOMEONE
Based, these games are all great. Obra Dinn didn't really click with me personally. I could tell it had a ton of quality put into it but I found it too tedious and confusing to enjoy. Maybe it's because I'm a zoomer that never played the games it's inspired by.
that's a pretty fancy tome UI
The best, but by now everyone who was going to play it has already played it, beaten the boss on normal and hard, and unlocked every ship save for maybe Crystal since it's now impossible in AE.
Actually just reinstalled that the other day after playing Katana ZERO.
i got a free copy of this when i bought into the breach, and i realized i actually couldn't give it away since literally everyone on my friends list owns it.
What changed that made it impossible to get?
>confusing
It's because you're a brainlet. That's the only actual reason.
Has anyone tried Forager? On the fence about spending $20 on it
