the only reason it's hated is because Atlus milked it for so long, because of this people got tired of seeing this game everywhere and tried to phase it out by acting like the game was always shit, and the fact that the enhanced version of the game was on the VITA made people even more upset since nobody bought a fucking VITA and would've rather had it on PS3 or 3DS.

It's my least favorite simply because I don't like the plot or characters as much as P3 or P5. I also think the gameplay is really poorly paced. It's the easiest of the three for the first half of the game to the point that you are barely playing a game in those first 2-3 dungeons. Then in the video game dungeon it spikes the difficulty to where it probably should have been but you aren't prepared because the game has been so easy up until that point. It doesn't have the quality of life changes P5 has but it also removed things from P3 like arcana getting reversed (i think it can happen in P4 but it's WAY less likely) or characters ebing too tired to dungeon crawl. The time management is also the easiest. It's the only one out of the three that I actually almost got every social link maxed out on my first play-through. I didn't come close in P5 or P3.
There are things I like about it like how it actually made all your party members social links but anything like this that P4 does P5 also does.

the first real boss is enough of a challenge to get you used to the basics of combat, but i'll agree it's pretty easy (although p5 is even easier than golden) and better played in hard
the stamina system was replaced by something less restrictive and that allows for more strategic depth despite being simplistic in execution, which was just making mp healing items incredibly rare and barely worth using to save a day or two of dungeon crawling
time management was also definitely and undoubtedly way easier in p5, the only reason you'd think it's harder is because the game literally restricts you until you can get a certain s link to a certain level, making you waste entire months if you didn't read a walkthrough or stumbled upon it early by luck
p4 is undeniably better than both 3 and 5 in almost every aspect, the story not being to your liking is understandable but that doesn't necessarily make it bad (and for its purpose it does have a far more efficient pacing and better written scenes than those two)

Now that 5 is out and is ""darker"" and also babby's first persona, people see no reason to go back to 4 and actively shit on it.

My problem with the change is is contributes to why time management was difficult in 3. It was one less thing to have to take into consideration.

Maybe that's why I had the experience I did but I also felt like another reason was P5 gave you more to do. There was only fishing in P4 in terms of mingames right? There were a lot more in P5. I might be completely off on this it's been awhile since I played P4.

Couldn't disagree more, P5 has by far the best gameplay. I really don't know how you can say for example that RNG dungeons are better than hand designed one. P5 is my favorite for this reason, I care most about gameplay. Like I said P5 is the only one with a very hard that I actually find hard.

This is the other reason i disagree that P4 is definitively the best, a lot of it comes down to preference and what you value in the game. I am a good example of that, I have seen people say the DLC difficulty in P5 was unfair but I didn't agree because I have played like every Atlus game and I need that kind of challenge now. Also I never said P4 is bad certainly not, it's a very good game.

Yes it is free, some people don't like it because the main thing it does is lower the exp you get however I like this because Persona already provides a mechanic to get bonus exp. It makes social links matter a lot more.
That's pretty ridiculous logic considering how many bosses and other hard fights that won't work on. Maybe a fraction of situations are and most of those are already easy.
