Is this the perfect team?

full 6 man party or bust
>haer'dalis
>barbarian MC (chaotic evil)
>korgan
>viconia
>jan jensen
>edwin

THIS is the best party...

For me, it's Aerie.

I like these games but holy fuck equipping every single spellcaster with Slings because most of the staves are so useless and you need them to do SOMETHING during downtime always seemed so janky and stupid in my eyes.

you can equip them with returning darts and daggers

>no arcane caster
of course not

>MC fighter/thief/cleric specializing in 2h swords, damage dealer, can become tanky if needed, helps your main caster breaching and shit and gets carsomyr late game. Don't bother with hide and move silently until your picklocking and find traps is good enough
>Anomen dual wielding whatever you fancy
>Edwin as your main caster
Plus something else, you'll probably need more muscle so jaheira is a good choice since she can help Edwin summoning shit and fucks up casters with creeping doom

You can do better if your willing to change everyone classes

Slings are shit, go for darts/throwing daggers so you get more chances interrupt casters. Also IRC there a a couple staffs that cast summons or spells

forgot to mention that you should also invest into quarterstaffs for backstabbing with the staff of the ram later on

>ranged in 2

No.

If your MC isn't a Cleric or Cleric/Fighter you done fucked up.

you obivously do not play with Ascension and SCS,if you do not have atleast one frontliner that can use protective spells (ironskins/stoneskins/blur/mirror image etc), you're fucked
divine spells are pretty shit, you should not have more than one divine spellcaster in your party and even that guy should be multi-classed

Cleric/thief is more fun and cleric/ranger for iron skins if you want cleric/fighter.

lol

Cleric/Ranger is too OP to still be fun thanks to that bug that gives you all spells.

Mazzy with Gensen's shortbow and improved haste is a fucking minigun

>lol
unbased retard
pure clerics are shit, the only reason why you'd want one is because Viconia is awesome

It's not even that OP desu. There's only a handful of druid spells that you really want anyway, with iron skins being the best one.

Clerics were always known as one of the strongest classes (even OP) in 2-3.5E silly.

clerics are essential, but you do not need more than one in your party, Aerie can be the party cleric with 0 problems

>no mage
yikes
This is the dream team.

Theyre nowhere near as OP in Baldur's Gate as they are in 3-3.5. in Baldur's Gate 2 Viconia gets away with being a pure cleric because of her natural 19 in wisdom and spell resistance.

Perfect team is charname paladin and paladin waifu

I never said to have more than one. I was really just proclaiming my love of Clerics, DnD helped me fall in love with divine casting/melee classes in RPGs.

No, they definitely aren't. We all know Kensai/Mage is the penultimate character in BG (or arguably normal Fighter/Mage with ToB for HLA's).

For me it's
>Fighter/Thief CE Half-Orc
>Korgan
>Sarevok
>Viconia
>Edwin
>Haer'Dalis

berserker/mages are better tbqh

>Paladin MC
>Jaheira
>Minsc
>Jan Jensen
>Imoen
>Viconia/Aerie or whoever you want really

If you go Paladin MC you need to go full RIGHTEOUSNESS with Keldorn, Mazzy, Minsc, Anomen to rescue your damsel in distress.

its useless to have 2 pallies, you only need one to use Carsomyr

It's roleplaying user. You can beat the game without being optimal. I could take that setup through SCS.

hmm yeah, but i don't think its a good idea to have keldorn and anomen in the same party, you can only give the bracers of dexterity to one of them, unless you have anomen slinging in the back, but i would rather have aerie do that

I still think we can make it work. Minsc is the one I'm not entirely sold on gameplay wise and he's probably the weak link here. But you can't go full righteous party without him from a roleplaying standpoint

>no thief
>no mage
I've literally never playing Baldur's Gate without those, is it even possible?

I should pick back up my IWD2 HoF mode playthrough.

>Keldorn
>Mazzy
>Aerie or Anomen
>Nalia
>Minsc or Anomen
this works out if you play a mage/thief or a mage/sorcerer and just give nalia a potion of thievery when she can't pick a lock

Your last spot is going to be Jan and then Imoen. The party lacks in arcane power but you can get through the game without a thief if you wanted to bring Aerie until you save Imoen.

Pure thief is pretty garbo in gb2, it really needs to multiclass into an actual useful class

Imoen is for mating press

no.

kensai
korgan
viconia
amnoen

i guess you can thief > kensai for stealths

Nope, it's shit.
