How did Sekiro beat a household name like DMC worldwide, despite coming out much later in the same month and being much less casual friendly?
How did Sekiro beat a household name like DMC worldwide...
Because its better.
But Yea Forums said DMC5 would be the best selling game of the month
Because it came packaged in the household knowledge of being 'from the guy who made Dark Souls', which is an extremely important detail to miss out.
Because devil may cry is a shit button spamming game where the only appeal is to "style" on braindead healthsponge AI and that's it. Sekiro at least tries to challenge at you, even though is also a shit game
New game, a game with 5 on the title is extremely off-putting to people out of the loop with DMC, and that's a shitton of people considering DMC4 came out 12 years ago or something.
Also what he said
>taste gets more and more shit the higher up the list you go
The Souls games built a huge fan-following (including a lot of mainstream gamers) while DMC was on indefinite hiatus since the terrible reboot. It's really no surprise.
>those PC games
Yikes.
>those console games
Yikes.
>DMC5 above CoD
>It actually did CoD numbers
Whoa
DMC features one of the most recognizable characters in gaming though, Dante.
Seething mobafag.
pc gaming is a joke
Who's Dante?
>The Division 2 flopped on PC
Oof, guess going with the chink store didn't work out too well for them.
because fags like me have played through sekiro more than once , but couldnt stay interested in dmc5 enough to even get halfway through it
Literally me except I've played through DMC5 once and played the shit out of Bloody Palace while I stopped playing Sekiro at Headless.
DMC has always been a smaller niche series. None of the titles in the series have breached past 3.5 million, and the series has also been pretty much dead for about 10 years. Sekiro has the bonus of being associated with Souls. I don't get why it has to be a competition though. Based on Capcom's numbers DMC5 is the fastest selling game in the series, and both of those games are fantastic anyway.
That's true, I think it's because Dark Souls has more weight in the modern world. To me Dante is more important than Dark Souls, but to a what I suppose is the majority of video game players nowadays, Dark Souls is a bigger deal.
>Headless
Which one of the five optional mini bosses by that name do you mean?
>DFO on the top
That's the most surprising. I thought it was dying again.
>WoW still in top 10
Yikes, it will never die, and not counting China
chinks fuck the numbers on pc and mobile
I didn't know that DFO got so much money, I stopped playing after I didn't know what to do with so much shit they tossed at me to trade or collect with a fucking tiny inventory
The faggot in Ashina Depths.
How is he a mini-boss, you literally can't avoid him.
It's really popular in Korea and China. The Chinese are literally pumping so much money into the game that it's literally the only reason why it's still up.
An action adventure game reaches a larger audience in terms of interest compared to a mission mode action game
Apex below dota after only a month and a half, holy shit.
Sekiro is trash, this game released in like the 90s is superior in all objective aspects,
youtube.com
League of Legends makes $30,000,000 a month bruh
>DFO
>Crossfire
How in the fuck
>before DMCV is released
>"DMCV will sell billions, make everyone forget about DmC, and rejuvenate the stylish action genre
>after DMCV is released
>DMCV fails to sell, makes people reappreciate DmC, and shows that the stylish action genre is as good as dead
And people actually wonder why Team Ninja doesn't make a new Ninja Gaiden.
Cool, and how much of that do you get for shilling?
Yea Forums isnt one person
>DMCV fails to sell, makes people reappreciate DmC, and shows that the stylish action genre is as good as dead
It sold faster than every other game in the series, how did it fail to sell?
From the Devil May Cry series
All Headless are optional, look for a way around.
they’re all optional, none are in the main path
DFO is pretty big in Korea I hear along with Lineage. It's their version of WoW.
citation needed, I’m sure it didn’t sell as well as DMC2 (yes, DMC2 sold really well despite being crap) and DMC4 (the best selling title of the series)
That PC list is making me sick
It sold really well on Steam.
Not enough
>DFO on top
Goddamn, Chinese players really do love mom.
>willingly adding a second layer of drm to a game you buy for no reason
epic
how the fuck is dungeon fighter online the top grossing pc game
i thought the game died years ago
FPBP
DMC is a worse action game than games like Sekiro/NG/Nioh and a worse combo game than SSX (new game when)
Only in the west. Its never lost popularity in Korea that much, and China loves it to death. There's a global version out now too that you can play if you're interested. yes it still has fatigue and that will never change.
Sekiro's combat is designed like a puzzle that requires the player to input the correct button combination like a rhythm game.
It's restrictive as fuck.
How is GTAV still selling that well?
From Software has a reputation for creating "hard" games, and it has become a highlight watching Twitch streamers fail and get mad.
Scrub quote. You can tell someone is bad at the game when this is their perspective.
Tards spending money in online mode.
didn’t even make top 10 on PC
Well, I guess we wont see DMC VI until PS6.
I don’t know what happened, but it has surpassed 100 million sales, Jesus Christ
DMC5 sold very well though, division 2 and delito just sold more
>sekiro
fix'd
>being much less casual friendly
Hey, that's bull...
>remembers the gold orbs system
>remembers the super easy SoS difficulty
>remembers Sin Trigger
Oh my god, DMC5 IS more casual friendly
Crossfire? Fucking really?
>much less casual friendly?
anyone can breeze through the game on devil hunter without dying at all
half of who played sekiro have been filtered by genchiro very early in the game
DMC5 is still the better game. Fromsoftware is normie core now.
Capcom claimed it sold 2 million copies in 2 weeks. That makes it the fastest seller in the series. Google it, the articles came out a month ago.
desu this is normal. DMC5 just has no real meat to it. Sekiro stays satisfying and has insane replayability, especially when you throw the bell and charm and all the endings into the mix
i mean, it was a reasonable guess. i would have said DMC would have sold more, too
It’s the easiest DMC game after DMC2. Not even joking, DmC had less casual friendly options, it certainly didn’t hand Gold Orbs like 5.
a ton of kids buying it multiple times to play the online
it's in the same bracket as games like fortnite
how did they do it
that’s why I’m saying Sekiro is less casual friendly
jesus PC has shit fucking taste
This guy from that game, you know
Im assuming its because DMC just came out of a 10 years hiatus and Sekiro has the hardcore gamerz status buff that soulsborne gams have
