When did everyone on Yea Forums start disliking this game

I never really liked it, but I'm not about to be a contrarian and constantly shit up threads for the game

A friend gifted it to me because I'm really into management games, nature stuff and farming/fishing. I played for a full hour and just didn't have any fun

I know there are some mod fixes for some of these problems but I like my first runs to always be vanilla. I feel a little bit guilty about not liking it since it's a gift so I'll play a bit more but as of yet I'm just not having fun at all. A final complaint that I really can't describe well is that all the movement, getting around and talking just feels "awkward", it's extremely off but I can't describe why

farming sims at the time had gone to shit so this mediocre game somewhat filled that gap for a lot of people, it's nothing compared to Friends of Mineral Town/Back to Nature

It was made by one dude, the "SJW company" was just the one who published it. They literally did nothing else at launch.

Even if you hate the game, you should at least have some appreciation for the developer. He made everything from the sprites to the music to the gameplay. He opted for beta testers over early access bullshit. He charged a reasonable price, and thus far he made good on all the promises he made concerning the game's future.

The game does grow stale and it does appeal to a certain audience, not everyone is gonna like it, but if more indie developers were like Eric Barone we'd have some damn good games.

I hated it at the start since I had already played multiple rune factory games. Any point you bring up about how rune factory is better people respond with "It's not about x, it's focused on farming" but stardews farming only includes watering your plants and placing a scarecrow while rune factory has soil maintenance making crop cycling and fertilizing a huge benefit. Aside from multiplayer (which is implemented very poorly) I don't think there is a single aspect of stardew that compares.

Also as a small gripe, a game so heavily focused on farming shouldn't waste my time with winter. Always have to spend first year Winter with a thumb up my ass feeling guilty that I'm going to bed at 3pm.

I married Emily and for the Feast of the Winter Star you are supposed to be a secret santa to random characters.

Sounds awful yes. I'd probably not have as much of an issue with the walking rate if the farm had a more central position.

Since we got news that Rune Factory is not dead. SV is pretty okay, but still inferior to worst of the HM/SoS/RF games.

All I do is never really automate. That way I have more stuff to do.

I haven't really played since the initial release, but I thought it was decent.
I liked it more than every Harvest Moon game.
I'd say my biggest gripe was that the purple-hair was the only real romance option he worked on by giving her more lines and such.
Craft Master is my 3rd rarest achievement on my Steam profile as less than 1% of players have got it, but I understand because it really requires dealing with just horseshit random drops.

I like it a lot but it's easy to run out of things to do, and you get to the point where you;re just waiting for the day to go by so you can get to tomorrows harvest so you can get the money fro whatever expensive thing you wanna get
and after that whats left? Go cave divin in the desert mine? Combat isn't fun enough to justify that.
Im glad the guy broke it off with chucklefish so he could work on updates for this himself, really needs more content.

The dev himself has literally said he’s handing the game off to Chucklefuck devs for most of the updates from now on. Hell, they were the ones who were in charge of multiplayer already. This isn’t his game anymore.

Honestly I just HATE the art style. It's the most uninspired, boring and blandest look you can get. Say what you want about a game being a clone original but at lest TRY to make your game look like it's own thing. Half of what makes Harvest Moon and Rune Factory so great is that it actually looks homely and cute.

it's comfy but it has no meaningful end content

family content is non existent, after the marriage theres no development to the LI characters, which is hugely disappointing
crops are so much more manageable and easier and profitable than animals that makes trying to run an animal farm stupid, theres no advantage in the animal route, you lose way too much time in it
no fun content to do after you finish your farm, the cassino and the magic items doesnt add much to the experience

the game doesnt need to be a service, but more content to the town and the characters would add a lot to the game
