I'm guessing this is your first game?
never understood the hate for this one
it was awesome all the way through, and the last fight was hype overload
Zero was my first. Never touched the series before.
New combat system sucks.
You should have seen it worse than 0 at least.
Kiwami isn't the worst Yakuza. Just people were underwhelmed by it because it was a step down from 0.
How did Nishiki betray Kazama with Terada's help if Terada was on Kazama's side all along?
0 is literally the only good game in the series
Oh boy, I sure do love fighting bosses that stagger and knock you down every 5 seconds and then regenerate their health. That's so fun. It's even more fun when there are two of them, and they have guns that can stagger and knock you down from across the room. You know what else I love? I love fighting wacky meme Japanese Joker man 4000 times on the street, each time with progressively more health, and a knife that takes half your health. That's so great
Yakuza Kiwami is such a fucking blast
Tiger
Drop
>just grind the best skill in the game locked behind a billion gimmicky arena fights to make the fights easier bro :^)
What's up with Haruka and her addiction to gambling? Does Sunflower have a secret underground casino?
TIGER
DROP
>not posting 24 Hour Cinderella or Heartbreak Mermaid
Yeah, fuck off dude
When does 0 get good?
Just play on fucking easy if it's so hard. Christ.
I preferred the Majima everywhere system to the Shakedowns, but otherwise I agree.
Why does falling to the ground and getting up takes so much time? Why does everything knocks you down right away?
Why does the game force me to have a dozen taurins at any given time so the bosses won't regenerate on my ass?
At least it has autosave, and style switching.
Once you clear Majima's tutorials.
You cant be fucking serious. Its tedious yes but othervise game is piss easy even on extreme
There's a difference between being difficult and being fucking boring
I might be underleveled or something but I'm on Kiwami and the Majima batting cage fight was just awful.
back in the day yeah yakuza 1 was the my first game
then i only played the second one a little bit and only started REALY enjoying the series after i bought 4
Did you trade in your Cheese Pizza to the clown for the Yakuza Training gear? Also don't even think of using the DoD style prior to the Tiger Drop.
>Tatsuya actually got to meet Kiryu and it was a main story mission too.
Yes, I know it's the fake Kiryu, I wasn't expecting this at all. Absolutely hilarious. The entire start of chapter 4 is you and Ginji (?) running around chasing him too.
It wasnt difficult, just tedious
That was a real pain in the ass
Ignore the faggots all Yakuza games are GREAT GREAT GREATTTTTTTTTTTT
Terada is Omi scum and changes allegiance like shoes
Didn't 0 come out after kiwami?
OG Yakuza 1 was way better in this sense
No, Kiwami came later. Which you can see, since some things are more polished.
Except for the plot, and the lack of Majima.
fighting Jingu was one of the worst experiences of my life
Oh and the god awful kiwami system.
Kiwami is Yakuza 1 in the 0 engine. Its basically an old ass game that looks pretty and plays nicer. Has alot less features and a less refined story in people's eyes, due to it being over a decade old in those terms. Since 0 was alot of people's first entry into the series, alot of them played Kiwami when it released and obviously riding off the hype of 0 many were "disappointed".
1 is better than Kiwami, it's not 0fags complaining about the technical garbage that the game introduced, they complain that Majima acts different.
>Majima not playable
No way fag
What's the worst Yakuza
*gets up*
>niggas having trouble with jingu
protip: buy a couple of photon blades and have the katana training
stun-locks for life
FUCKYOUFUCKYOUFUCKYOU
Turns out the obatarians are also some sort of group that hunts down young people to annoy to do their bidding and buy them stuff by the looks of things. There's even a hierarchy where the King Panther obatarian oversees everyone, the Little Panther answers to her, and everyone else does their own thing. Sotenbori is a strange place. I have no clue if the Y0 obatarian is any of these women though, none of the women so far have had purple hair, it's like this dark black/brown. They do have different color outfits though, there's ones with grey, green, purple, and regular leopard shirts.
King Panther hands Tatsuya a leopard outfit but you can't wear it. I'm mad.
>Being so loyal to jingu that even after kiryu beats your ass, you still get back up.
What about the "homeless hunters" is that really a thing?
>1 is better than Kiwami
>stiff, slow movement around Kamurocho
>very easy to get stuck into street fights one after another
>substories are mostly, if not always not much more than fetch quests
No.
>beat him and Nishiki in a row without Tiger Drop
Am I the only one who knows this pain?
There was a homeless hunter in BP2, they're attacking some of the bums that run the gambling ring in Sotenbori. BP1 had them around in the substories but I can't recall seeing any in the main story.
Nope. I beat all the bosses regularly because I was rushing through the story to unlock Legend. Nishiki felt like he took longer and Jingu felt a bit easier than in the original somehow. Maybe because I was expecting it though.
lotta loyalty for a hired gun
I did that too, Tiger Drop is a post game unlock as far as I'm concerned.
The first boss was bullshit. He had way too much stagger resistance, health regen and offense power. I did manage to beat him but it was no fun. Are all Yakuza games like this?
Tiger Drop trivializes combat, so yeah, barely used the thing, except on accident once or twice.
Or when max health Majima bumps into me, while I've finished everything with him.
Shimano in Kiwami is just Shakedown from 0 1:1 including the super armor, they just dropped the damage from 90% of your health to like 10% when he hits you. In the original 1 he had his own unique moveset which they didn't use for some reason. Most of the bosses are just the same as they are from 1, but Majima, Shimano, and the Breaker brother reuse stuff from 0 instead of what they had in 1.
How did you do it? I had to cheese around with Rush for a few hits just to avoid all the gunshots and the fight still took up a filled inventory of recovery items.
>seeing all the shit Shimano did in 0, want to kick his ass
>just gets dropped on you at the beginning but he's incredibly unsatisfying to fight
>downgraded cutscenes and model animation
>absolutely pants on head retarded kiwami mechanic that you need to buy for some reason to actually use
>many bosses changed for the worse
>certain story sections were expanded (read: butchered) like the pre-time skip
>stupidly out of place Majima shit everywhere to pander to 0fags
Yes, I bet you think Kiwami 2 was better than 2 as well
Probably Dead Souls.
It's a complete departure from Yakuza as a whole.
>why did Yea Forums lie to me
>YK2 wins an award in the 2018 Yea Forumsgas
Sounds like you weren't listening hard enough, my dude.
Never did like how the game felt too easy or too hard with some bosses while the normal mob becomes trivial once you level up a little. Every Yakuza game seems horribly balanced. Though I mostly play it for fun minigames now
at least it gives you a lot of options to cheese it
shotguns + tiger drop + sunburst katana really made that fight a lot easier
Why is it called yakuza when kiryu spends the vast majority of the series not in the yakuza?
He's only in it at the beginning and end of 0 and shortly at the beginning of 1.
Because it's called like a dragon in Japan
Because it's an English localization name. The series is called "Like a Dragon"
What like a dragon?
>>downgraded cutscenes and model animation
How exactly?
>>absolutely pants on head retarded kiwami mechanic that you need to buy for some reason to actually use
What are you talking about?
>>many bosses changed for the worse
The bosses were similar enough for the most part and it was well worth the superior combat system.
>>certain story sections were expanded (read: butchered) like the pre-time skip
The only part like this I can actually think of is Majima healing from the knife wound faster and then getting shot.
>>stupidly out of place Majima shit everywhere to pander to 0fags
It was fine, especially considering he isn't that hard to avoid if you don't want to fight him.
I haven't played Kiwami 2 yet, but it will probably be better than the original as well if they just make exploration less of a chore like with Kiwami.
Brawler and get to their backs. Rush gets knocked down too much and while it can dodge quickly Jingu shooting you knocks you down constantly. Beast is worthless for the fight. It is an act of attrition though.
Marketability. "Like a Dragon" sounds very generic and this was a time where they were trying to compete with GTA if I remember right. "Yakuza" isn't a lie though since the games all involve the Tojo Clan or the Omi.
>majima tries to save your life from hitmen
>literally takes a fucking bullet for you and falls into the ocean
>"yeah nah fuck him I've gotta get back to look after Haruka's dog I'm sure he'll be fine"
Absolutely amazing how you not only made Kiryu completely out of character in that one sequence but it also shattered my immersion and pissed me off enough to just stop playing. What the FUCK were they thinking with that?
>using items
Like a Dragon, that's the name.
Kiwanis sort of a pain in the arse. Not difficult but it pulls some obnoxious shit off.
Only game aside from dead souls I don't feel like replaying.
>>>absolutely pants on head retarded kiwami mechanic that you need to buy for some reason to actually use
>What are you talking about?
He's referring to the heat moves you use on bosses to stop them regenerating health. The game doesn't tell you that you have to reunlock them to use them despite having them in the tutorial, and their usage is just
>boss enters regen mode
>open menu, pop a Tauriner
>press triangle
I was fully what the fuck on that too. It's uncharacteristically cold of Kiryu.
>Made the fight piss easy in Kiwami
It's either or with you, ain't it, Nagoshi? God damn, man.
I wish Kiwami 1 was made like Kiwami 2.
Kiwami 1 isn't good. Weird boss regeneration abilities, obvious visual shortcuts, the story is silly and the first hour of the game is the absolute worst shit.
I've only played 0, Kiwami 1 and 2 and many are saying that 0 and 2 are the peak but the series is so inconsistent it's probably not worth going back to the early ps3 games.
Probably because Majima literally came back from worse before. They made Majima way too invincible in the series. He is far tougher than even Kiryu
It would be a fair complaint if it actually made that much of a difference in fighting overall. The worst it does is break the pace.
It was fine in the original, since you never saw majima till shangrila after he got stabbed
Kazuma Kiryu has never killed a man.
Considering how many times you have to fight Majima, and the regen triggers two or three times per battle, it annoyed me quite a bit.
It doesn't actually get that bad until he's at 2+ health bars and you shouldn't need the abilities or exp from him at that point. It's a definite flaw, but not all that big of one.
Look at any cutscene in 1 compared to Kiwami, characters universally emote less
You can't be this delusional
Bosses that had unique and fitting movesets we're butchered for Kiwami using 0s assets
You obviously haven't even compared the tutorial sections
The Majima shit isn't fine
I don't even know why I'm replying anymore, it's obvious that you haven't even played 1 if this is the shit you can come up with
Just started Yakuza 0 as my first game. It's the perfect example of a 7/10, stopped just short of achieving greatness. I can say 100 good things about the game but also 100 bad things.
The mini-games are fun but not fun enough to keep doing. The side missions are mildly amusing but not very satisfying. Every time the plot makes you do something exciting the momentum gets killed by some boring shit like buying alcohol for homeless people. The cutscenes are great but bogged down by so much pointless unskippable shitty conversation that's a chore to sit through. The action gameplay is sort of fun but doesn't have any depth like a real action game like Devil May Cry, so fighting the same shitty fodder a thousand times and "press triangle for cool!" becomes a chore.
I really want to like this game but it's just a constant mix of fun and frustrating. There's so much content but the content is just average, there's less fun-per-hour compared to playing a short but polished game like DMC or Ace Combat.
That being said I'm only on Chapter 5 so I'll give it a few more chapters to decide if I should drop it.
Ishin when?
The real question is when are we getting 3 - 5 remastered in the west?
>That being said I'm only on Chapter 5 so I'll give it a few more chapters to decide if I should drop it.
So it's not a 7/10 for you at all, then. Who the fuck drops a 7?
Probably after judgment.
Kiryu told me himself.
it's made on fucking shoestring budget, animations are recycled from Yakuza 1 with new models slaped on, also story rewrite is fucking horrible
she's using the gayman grading scale, on which anything below a 9 is garbage
>Look at any cutscene in 1 compared to Kiwami, characters universally emote less
I did to jog my memory, there's a definite difference in their faces, but the voicing carries it enough for it not to matter as more than a nitpick.
>Bosses that had unique and fitting movesets we're butchered for Kiwami using 0s assets
Just off the top of my head, Majima and the assassin fought extremely similarly to the original. A lot of them were kept in tact for the most part.
>The Majima shit isn't fine
There's nothing wrong with it and none of it is mandatory.
>it's obvious that you haven't even played 1 if this is the shit you can come up with
I played 1 over a year ago, I played Kiwami a few weeks ago. How the fuck do you expect me to remember such small differences?
>she
>she
The Jap name is Like a Dragon as Kiryu has a dragon tattoo and rises to the top of the Tojo clan in the original like a dragon. So Amon's dialogue in 0 spells this out for you.
>she
user...
>Bosses that had unique and fitting movesets we're butchered for Kiwami using 0s assets
Who? The only case of this I really remember was Mr. Shakedown's moveset being used for Shimano? I believe there was more I just don't remember and was curious which ones it was.
I recommend people to play 0 > 1 > 2 > K2 > rest. I don't like the majima everywhere, it was a pretty dumb idea desu.
...
I don't see anything because I filter trip fags like you probably should too
You should mention that hayashi uses babas move set for some reason, and shindo using a moveset from ishin just because he has a sword.
I honestly didn't notice Baba's Hayashi and forgot Tennin Rishin Shindo. You're definitely right. Some of the mooks are also using Tennin Rishin like in 0 just because. The three I mentioned are just the ones that popped to mind instantly. I guess I could also mention Amon just being Brawler + Mad Dog but Amon is usually just boss or player movesets anyway. The original was Arase + his own unique moveset (The grenades) + DoD from what I remember. Did Yuya have a different moveset? To me it felt different but I'm not 100% sure on him.
why did she have to retire
That's rad.
She has a kid now. Would you want to grow up knowing your mother gets fucked by random men and records it to the world to watch?
I thought that was funny though, Majima is in the game for funnies and giggles literally.
I think yuya just had a regular mook moveset
The problem is that feels much inferior compared to 0, be content wise, the regen mechanic(which can be annoying with Majima sometimes) and the soundtrack.
The soundtrack really drove me off the moment I changed styles and there was no unique for each style. The content was lacking so much for no reason, which they got right with K2 and added a lot of shit to do
Story is meh and shows how it was the first game in the series.
Like she can erase what she did before
yakuza combat is honestly fucking dogshit but that's par for the course for brawlers
Kiryu feels like dogshit to play after Majima
How?
Kiwami is good apart from the car chase and some bosses which are just too long (Shimano on first playthrough) and the Matrix rejects (last boss before nishiki and the guy that kills two certain people relevant to Kiryu), but in story it's a lot weaker since it's the same story as the game from 2005.
forgot pic for attention
same I didn't get tiger drop until premium adventure
who the hell is amon
reminder that majima is canonically stronger than kiryu
secret boss you unlock after beating all sidequests
Clan of Assassin's who act as the recurring ultimate boss's once you finish all the sub-stories.
After you beat Kuzuru
He loses all the damn time though
>Not going for the secret boss in every Yakuza game.
They're a clan of assassins who have never been beaten for with an autistic man who wants to kill Kiryu yet hasn't done so in close to two decades despite a ridiculous amount of things at his disposal.
Majima and Komeki have a discussion in Kiwami where both say that Kiryu is stronger though which is why the only fight Majima ever one is when Kiryu was fresh out of prison.
>Komeki
It's Komaki, you arrogant motherfucker
Because he doesnt break dance enough
>Komeki
>Kiwami
Komeki is Komaki's fake name in 0, it's never used outside of 0.
And just what the fuck family are you from?
when you start playing as majima
