It's piles upon piles of retarded, inconsequential crimes where you sit on your ass and calculate dates and numbers for every single fucking thing, all mired in a sprawling hierarchical structure filled with power-tripping douchebags, their sycophants and rampant nepotism.

One thing Phoenix Wright does get correct is the Jaspanese view of defense attorneys and prosecutors.
Prosecutors are seen as the good and just individuals who are subsequently rolling in cash because they've taken on the burden of putting away criminals.
Defense attorneys are seen as lowly scum because they defend criminal dirt bags and try to get them off the hook, and they make almost nothing compared to prosecutors of similar age and experience.
