Its not the moonlight greatsword that makes the ludwig fight kino. Its the fact he fights you as a ravenous monster, gets fukken wrekt, then the sight of his sword inspires him to fight you with the vigor of a noble swordsman.

This. He is mentioned and talked about in the main game, you get a sense of how crucial he was then you finally meet him as a horrific beast. So you fight him and suddenly we get to fight him as he used to be, the only beast to regain some og his humanity. Now that intro speech, the moonlight sword, a trademark in the series on top of it, just amounts to one of the greatest moments ever.
