I actually got a decent surprise in the end because I had accidentally seen something about a second ape showing up, so I had assumed that was the big twist.

I had an adrenaline rush from finally killing him and took a screencap of the victory message, then he got up and I NOPE'd the fuck out. Stuck it out for a while but ended up dying.

I was the opposite, 1ape is easy and did him in a couple tries. 2ape was hell. Couldn't get any hits in without the ape i wasn't fighting clipping his arms/sword through the body of the one I was fighting and fucking me up

I had a hard time with headless phase. The first phase was easy and only took a few tries but godamn phase 2 fucked me up. I couldn't figure his moveset out.

I'm now at 2ape but having a way easier time, probably gonna beat it soon.

This was the high point of the entire game. Wish it had more cool monsters, really squandered the supernatural stuff.

I lucked out big time. Heard talks about an ape and things like second fight and revisited. So when I got to him and saw only one life I figured he either appeared again later on like others or something other like that. The moment his head came off and the fucking Shinobi execution prompt came on, I thought 'oh, guess he appears in a memory later o maybe it's another ape. Then I freaked out the moment his body started flailing.

I got suspicious when the body wasn't despawning, then i saw the twiching

took him out that same try though, but yeah it was sweaty.

These unironically are harder than some bosses simply because they have ridiculous posture and damage.

I was genuinely taken by surprise. I expected a phase two because the boss only had one health bar, but I completely let my guard down once I decapitated him and saw the ''shibobi execution'' text.
Then the monkey got up and I got a panic attack.

I had a big ''OH THAT'S WHY THE FIRST PHASE WAS SO QUICK'' moment.

I had that with Lady Butterfly and Genichiro, too, but after three times I learned to expect it.

Beat Ape Escape first try. A very tense first phase that took over half my sips because I kept eating new moves I hadn't seen before (the jumping shit throw hit me 3 times before I figured out you dodge towards him).

My relief at beating the boss immediately turned to dread when I realized he was getting back up. Very suspenseful. Great fight.
